Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa

I’ve been coming here for massages, waxing, and facials for about a year now, and can honestly say that the quality of the services and the pricing can’t be beat! I joined their lifestyle program which is super convenient because it’s super cheap, and also month to month (which is nice because a spa I used to go to had me sign up for at least a year before it went month to month).
I’ve seen several of the Estheticians, and regularly see Alicia for all of my waxing– she is fabulous! You can’t go wrong with the Estheticians for the facials. They are all pros, and seem to know exactly what facial to do and what products to use. I never worry if I don’t see my regular esthetician, they all truly know what they are doing :)
As for the massage therapists, you really can’t go wrong! I’ve seen Katrina, Tim, and Damisha and they never fail to impress me! I’m hoping to try out the other estheticians and massage therapists and will update my review as I continue to come here. But in a nutshell, this is my go-​to place and couldn’t be happier with it :)

Worst place ever!!! I never want to come back here due to the miscommunication of my appointment.

BUYER BEWARE. They hook you into a good deal and then you find they continue charging your account without your knowledge. I let them know the first time that I was no longer a local resident so a membership was ridiculous. They convinced me that I would not be charged going forward… yet I was! This is a sleazy operation. Don’t fall for it. AND watch your charge statements.

Staff has gone way down hill. Canceled membership.

If I could add minus 5 stars on this I would. My mom bought my sister and I each a 3 month membership as gifts for Christmas 2015. They billed her for the first month and when we went in for our first massages, the front desk staff was unable to find record of her payment. We spent almost a HALF an HOUR explaining to the staff that is was already purchased and paid for in full. After speaking to the manager and two office staff members they finally found our membership.
After they charged us for the second payments we went back and they claimed that my sister had forfeited her second session — which took another HALF HOUR explaining to their staff that they clearly have some billing issues going on.
After our second session when we went to leave we had to spend another 45 minutes to discover that they had double billed my mom and instead of speaking to us they made us stay there until they figured out that they had made a mistake. This was so incredibly rude and made us feel so incredibly uncomfortable. As if we were going to try and not pay for something. Wow!
Then we went to make our third appointments — we both called several times, multiple days in a row and nobody answered the phone and nobody returned our voice mails. So we walked in to schedule out third and final appointments. When we got there they claimed we had both already used our third appointments even though we had only used two. They had to call our mom (who works very hard for her money and was at work) to verify and realize that she had in fact paid for us to have the third service and nobody even called us back. My mom called and demanded a refund for the third service they charged her for as we were not able to redeem it.
Although we never had a bad experience with the massage therapists themselves — the front desk staff is SO RUDE.
On top of it all — my truck was broken into in their parking lot and when I told them about it to file a police report their response was «oh, yeah — that happens from time to time…»
We will never go back.

I forgot my masseuse’s name. She was a Latina woman & I’m not lying when I say she gave me one of the best massages I’ve ever had! I booked a couple’s hot stone massage. Front desk was friendly when I booked the appointment & when I arrived. My masseuse was terrific. She used a mixture of hot stone & hand massages to deal with the areas I needed the most attention on.
I gave this 4 stars only because unfortunately my boyfriend got a newbie masseuse and she accidentally hit his head & didn’t give him a full leg massage. She massaged the back of his legs but not the front.
5 stars from me, 3 stars from him. So between that is a 4.
The price here is really good. Cheap for the area. I am definitely going back but will request the masseuse I had and for my boyfriend to have a seasoned masseuse so his experience can be just as good as mine.

Being new to this area, I thought: Try it, you might like it.
I have been treating myself to facials for years & know what I like
Pros:
Got a facial appointment with 48hrs notice. (Availability)
They were sensitive to my allergy (peppermint).
Everything was clean.
They were friendly.
Scalp massage was a lovely treat. (At only $ 15 more, worth every penny)
Cons:
The room was blisteringly hot (I was sweating in only my undies & a tank-​top!)
The esthetician spent more time fiddling around with the machines/​products than she did providing the service.
I don’t think she knew how to use the steam, as it never actually made it to my face. (Felt some on one of my shoulders occasionally when she moved it.)
60minute facial, added on scalp massage & hand massage. The hand massage lasted about 1minute per hand (additional $ 20? Guess that’s the price I pay for learning better.)
I mentioned that my neck was getting sore & asked for a bolster: Never got it.
All told, based on the other reviews, I suppose it all falls to who is providing your service.
I won’t be back & I won’t recommend it to my friends.

Had a fantastic massage yesterday with Tim. He is terrific! Asks good questions, is responsive to my needs, and gives great suggestions to alleviate back pain.
Chloe is the best at the front desk! She is warm, friendly and helpful. I come early just to chat with her and relax before my massage.
Joining the once a month massage/​facial ensures that I always have a treat waiting for me in a few weeks.

Paula is far and away the best aesthetician I have ever been to and I have been getting facials for over 15 years. Her attention to detail, the care she took and continues to take in understanding my skin, her knowledge of skin care products and, most importantly, her skills are exceptional. Paula’s vast experience and clinical knowledge makes her one of the best paramedical aestheticians in Northern California. Also, I’m sort of picky about cleanliness and hygiene when I get treatments and her treatment room is always immaculate. I highly recommend Paula and feel really grateful that I found her.

My 1^st time here and I’m having a facial…1^st off the front desk young lady is a sweetie! And then met the Manger?? (Holy??) Hughh so bad at names but very friendly.
Paula did my facial and wow talk about gentle :-) she even showed me the difference between before and after on me… she knows what she’s doing

I’ve just had a facial with Karen. She is incredible! I usually go to extremely high end salons, but I am so glad that this spa lured me in with their introductory offer.
Karen is like a skin shaman; both knowledgeable and intuitive. She was both the most thorough and most gentle esthetician ever. She went way above and beyond the call of duty with extra treatments, and even plucked some stray eyebrows, and did not charge me extra for anything.
The whole experience was more like a massage than a facial, but my skin is SO clear now, and absolutely glowing.
Thank you Karen, I shall return!!! And thank you, hand and stone, for being so reasonably priced and not at all pushy with extra products or services.

I searched for a place that was open on Sunday to have a facial. I didn’t expect much but what I received was one of the best facials I’ve ever had-​and I travel and have experienced many. Paula was amazing-​attention to serial, customized to me-​and staff so welcoming and warm. The price is a bargain for what I received. A great find, I will be back!

My 1^st facial ever… took a LOT to convince me to do it, I have never been one to care much about my looks etc, and when I brought up my itchy face and breakouts while I had Paula do a lip wax one day, we chatted, I loved her attitude and knowledge, found out she has been in this field for many years and even trained others, and so I made the leap of faith! Tough start with a receptionist to get scheduled at first (someone new maybe?), but the second I told Paula she was ON it with the manager! They scheduled me in, created an unexpected day of the week (who knew I could get facials on a Sunday, how totally awesome!), and my 1^st facial was not so scary as I had worried… fear not people, Paula is your go-​to! Tremendous talent at her craft, listens to your requests and concerns, makes you feel smart about it (even when I wasn’t making good skin care choices before), completely removes the stress and worries about whether you will end up red or puffy… she GETS it, and she prevents reactive skin issues (my skin is a challenge truly, I am amazed at how it feels today), and she knows what to use on your skin to do the best job (not just what everyone is trending etc), she is an excellent PR person too! Bonus: I get to listen to her lovely quiet voice telling me what she is doing as she works on my skin (I LOVE that!) in her fabulous English accent, that simply cannot be topped… she stopped my face from itching in two days, and this was so hard for me but I actually went to work the last two days without makeup AND got compliments that my skin looked really good! I am a person who once I find the best I stick with them come heck or high water… I drive two hours to follow my hairdresser after she moved to another city 2-​hrs away, I travel an hour for my nails… and now with Paula an hour for my facials, and yes I joined the monthly membership now, a great deal! Once you find professionals who provide excellence, you shouldn’t mess around, Paula is stuck with me for as long as she works in this field! Hand and Stone, you need to work hard to make her happy, she is talent and grace from beyond!

I was a bit hesitant to give Hand & Stone a try only due to the fact that they are a chain and was unsure of the quality and experience of the staff. After my first visit for a massage and a facial, I became a member. Ariel’s facial made me a believer! She’s fantastic. I had my second massage today with Katrina and I would rank her among the best I have had — simply terrific. To have Hand & Stone right her in Terra Linda is a godsend! In addition, the staff that greets you is truly professional, friendly and inviting. I am VP of client relations and they impressed me. If you have doubts, give them a try and you’ll be convinced, as I was!

Had an amazing facial with Ariel!!! Nice clean facility, convenient location and good prices! Go!
