Established in 1982.

Founded in 1986, Fontana Construction Inc. started as a small, home-​based business in West Marin. The goals set by Michael and Bonnie Fontana were simple: provide a customer service focused team committed to professionalism, integrity and a superior product. As our business has grown, a new generation of Fontanas educated in Construction Management has joined our team. Our commitment to these core values remains and will continue to drive our company philosophy.

Conveniently located in central San Rafael, Fontana Construction Inc. offers a staff of over 20 employees including experienced estimators, project managers, job-​site superintendents and skilled carpenters.

Our projects extend from San Francisco to Sonoma Counties and we have completed jobs ranging in size from $ 6,500,000 down to basic handwork. Our services include new homes, complete interior and exterior renovations, additions, foundations, structural retrofits, kitchen & bathroom remodels and light commercial projects.

Business Owner

Mike has worked in the construction industry for 35+ years, with the past 24 years as President of Fontana Construction. He maintains ongoing involvement with every project and meets with his accomplished team of superintendents, estimators and project managers on a regular basis to review budgets, schedules and any issues that may arise. Mike’s direct participation is one aspect that sets Fontana Construction apart from our competitors.

Mike’s background could have landed him in the medical profession. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Microbiology after obtaining as Associates Degree in both Science and Mathematics from College of Marin. He chose to pursue is passion instead — Building. Prior to founding Fontana Construction Inc. in 1986, he worked as a Carpenter, Field Foreman and Estimator for a local construction company. Through his many roles, Mike gained hands-​on skills and a broad understanding of project management on a strategic level.
