Cain’s Tire

Called them up to arrange an upgraded suspension for a lightweight camper on my truck, and they had the integrity to talk me into getting the camper on there first, and seeing how it feels.

Before heading out on a 2000 mile road trip, I bought a used car. Needed a spare and front end had some serious squeaks. Barry at Cain’s took control. He inspected the front end, said one of the tie rod mounts was bad. And the squeaks were due to the age of the car (1999 Toyota Camry) but they’d lube what they could. It wasn’t dangerous. He got me a brand new tire and rim, put it on the car, used old tire for spare and rotated the tires. Fixed the tie rod mount. Had all that done in just a few hours. BEST service ever! Kinda sad I’m moving and won’t be able to use them in the future. But if YOU need service, head to Cain’s. You won’t regret it!

I’ve been using Cain’s Tire and have been working with Barry, for nearly 15 years. Almost every member of my family, friends and my clients I’ve referred have also worked with him and had nothing but exceptional customer service experiences! Today was another example of Cain’s Tire exceeding my expectations, when I had 3 new tires installed on my Volvo XC90. Thank you Barry for always following through on your promises and to Richie for coming through in a big way!

So I bought 4 tires from Cain’s when mine were going bald. They had great prices and friendly phone service so I thought why not. I gave this 2 stars because the customer service was pretty good. A couple weeks after I bought them I started getting a leak from the drivers side tire. So I took it back and asked them to take a look and see what was going on since they are supposed to be guaranteed. They said they couldn’t find a problem and they charged me for labor. I thoughts that was weird but I paid it. A month goes by and I’m filling the tire weekly so I take it back. They still can’t find the problem. They tell me they don’t have a tank to submerge the tire. A tire place without a tank is like a hair stylist without a pair of scissors. They again charge me labor and basically tell me it is my problem to deal with unless I want to buy a new tire. So I took my car to Brandon Tires today because I got another flat and they took two of the tires off to find Cain’s had not told me how corroded my rims were AND they left the tire stickers on which can sometimes allow air to seep out. Nice work Cain’s. You can poop in a box and mark it guaranteed but it is still just a guaranteed piece of poop. Never will I spend money here again. Brandon’s Tire is way better and their work is guaranteed too!

2016 started out with a bang (literally a nail to the tire)! My dad recommended I try Cain’s Tire in San Rafael as he heard great things about it.
Driving into Cain’s is a bit surreal but a memorable experience. The bustling place made me feel welcomed as I was immediately greeted by Pat McAlonan, the spunky 85 year old man (former owner) that has worked at this place for 60 plus years.
After talking tires, and feeling at ease since I wasn’t pressured into buying a single tire, I soon discovered Pat is also a scuba diver (the dive flag on his jacket drew my attention). I marveled in awe at his stories of dive trips around the world and I could tell that I’ve just met an extraordinary, genuine human being. While we didn’t share a love of cars or tires, we shared a love of something much more profound; the ocean and all of its beauty. We bonded over our thrill of scuba diving, sea creature encounters and exploring God’s most beautiful creation. Pat thoroughly explained ‘tire tred’ to me and helped me to understand this whole concept and later gave me an excellent deal on 4 brand new tires. We agreed that safety is the priority, however the takeaway is that my dealership not only wanted a lot more money but they were not being entirely honest. Cain’s Tire was extremely upfront and honest.
Pat and the entire McAlonan family operate their business in the way that Nordstrom does; it’s the old philosophy that, ‘if you put customer service first your business will succeed,’ and in result, Cain’s is still thriving and is simply the best shop in the bay area! The family run business runs on integrity with the belief being «telling the truth is easy to do.» I wholeheartedly recommend this tire shop and will certainly return for any car problems that arise in the future.
The true spirit of Cain’s is very much filled with the Aloha spirit which the mainland so desperately needs. Genuine, loyal, authentic businesses like Cain’s do exist.

I needed tires for my 42 year old VW Bug. I waited less than an hour, they were installed, highly recommended by my mechanic. Friendly, excellent customer service, long time family business. Couldn’t be better. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I had a near perfect experience with Cains. Responded quickly to my email inquiry and followed up when I had some questions. Got my new tires on in 30 minutes and the price is very competitive. That’s really all you need with a Tire company.

Once again Cain’s Tires came through for me! I had two bad front tires — I was expecting to have to spend at least $ 300 (which I really don’t have to spend). They replaced the two front tires for a grand total of only $ 100! They’re the best! (Also, I really like the family atmosphere)

This place is fine with one exception. And I’m not talking about their commercials that can scare small children. Their customers are constantly parked on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is not part of your business, Cain’s Tires. Stop pretending it is. Sooner or later someone is going to be injured or killed walking in the street instead of the sidewalk your customers constantly block.
I still walk by here nearly every day and the sidewalk is constantly blocked. One has to walk in the street to get by. It’s surprising the city allows it to go on. Lol, even your Unilocal home page has pic of the crosswalk blocked by a customer!

Rooney was super helpful today. It was a busy Saturday with a lot of customers but they were able to process everyone in first-​come, first-​serve order. The advice was honest and the price was totally fair for the product and service. They’re straight shooters at Cain’s.

These guys are the best. Every time I’ve needed anything, they’ve provided the best service and price of anyone else around. Last night I arrived at 4:35 with a leaking tire (lodged screw) and they whisked me in, were done in half hour, and charged me far less than anyone else I called.

This place is always on point with great service, very fast, friendly, convenient and have the best prices around.

Nice folks inside. Fair prices. Only gripe (which was worth 2 stars to me) was that they didn’t check alignment. When I asked about it at checkout, the guy said they didn’t find any unusual wear on my old tires so there was no need. Well, that wasn’t true. I needed an alignment.

This place is so cool, I know some of the shop swindle and hassle, but they are very straight with the price, and I think I got a fairly great deal. I recommend CAIN’S tire !

Do not believe their commercial, they do not help out women in any way shape or form. Not great service, their prices are NOT competitive. I had to take my car to the dealership to fix the work they did and yes, I got to pay again for the work and no they would not refund what they charged me even though I had a licensed mechanic saying the work they did was inferior and was not correct. Actually the dealership mechanic suspects that they drove my car around the block a few times just to put miles on the car so they could say they did the work and «checked» out the problem.

Yes there guys are he best in town and the know their tire business. Not sure if they are the cheapest but I feel like I was treated very well and was happy with my service.

Cain’s Tire is doing a lot better this time. They gave me new tires lower than their competition. They gave me pretty good customer service too. Definitely a reccomendation.

I bought tires here about a year ago. They are very, very loud– we are so unhappy with the tires! Cains says that just the way the tires wear down. I’ve purchased a lot of tires and never had this issue.
I’ve also had four punctures since I bought them– had to pay $ 30 for each repair… Some places offer this service for free.

Don’t let the sometimes chaotic atmosphere fool you when you get there. The staff here knows what they are doing and they try to do their best to figure out your needs. I came here looking for a discontinued Toyo tire and they were able to find me one in their warehouse.
A week later, my mechanic noticed that another tire has a bubble and also needed replacing. Unfortunately, since I apparently purchased the last one, so the guy working there searched for the best Japanese match to the tires I had. I think they could have found some way for me to get the same one, but I had very limited time, got there at about 1pm, and had to be out of town in the same car the next day. Somehow by 5pm, my car is all good. I highly recommend them for panicked, illogical customers like I was. :)
