This place was recommended to my by a lifelong friend. When I called for availability and price I was greeted with prompt courteous attention. Marianne and John have to be some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
I was moving and not knowing my next step in life they set me up with a great introduction price on my unit. They gave me exactly what I needed. Always took care me. I always felt my belongings were well protected and safe. They have alarms on each unit. And a truck to help you get your things there.
When it came time to leave they were very accommodating and as nice as when I came. I would tell anyone wanting or needing a storage unit come here and you won’t be disappointed !!!

This place sucks. Honestly. It’s cheap, which is great. But the service is crummy and they don’t appreciate loyal business. But it’s cheap. Did I mention that it’s cheap?

Consistent great service. John and Mary Ann are always friendly and willing to work with you. I’ve looked at all other units in the area and this is by far the best facility in the area. Great access hours. Gladly recommend them to anyone.

My apartments offer storage and they just broke into them recently but I am glad I have security public storage because is secure, great prices and very friendly. The managers had change since I go this unite but they all have been really nice to me! Please if you are looking for a place to keep your things save come here!

I want to start off with saying the interim Manager Desiree is awesome! Always very helpful, informative and friendly. This place has gone through a series of new managers over the last few years. My first complaint was when my first unit was getting crowded and the next unit became available, the old manager took down the wall and I was able to get a discount for renting a larger unit. When it happened again and I wanted to rent the next unit next to me the new manager said they didn’t do that, but I could upgrade to a larger unit. When I talked to Desiree she told me they can do that and she’s not sure why the Manager told me otherwise. The new management moved in about a week ago, and as I was leaving they approached me and said I needed to be sure to be out by 8 o’clock or I would be locked in. It was close to 8. Although, it may have sounded like they were being courteous, it came across a little rude an accusing. I came by 2 days after Memorial Day and the office was closed 6 minutes before 6 o’clock. The paper signs saying they would be closed for the holiday were still up throughout the facility. A few other cons; the facilities are not climate controlled so it can get rather hot when the temperature rises. I have seen mouse droppings, probably because some folks have unwittingly stored food even though they aren’t supposed to. I have smelled smoke in the facility as someone smokes there, even though it isn’t allowed. The tops of the unit are all open, so it is possible for someone to take a ladder and pull small stuff out of other people’s storage units.

— I went to my storage space on the weekend only to learn that the elevator to the entire half of the building was not working. Very frustrating. (They only have two elevators). They should have offered a discount to the customers to make up for the inconvenience. No, instead I received a note saying that they were hiking up the rent.
— They often close on holidays. While I understand that some holidays are more important than others, and that employees need days off, I think for this industry of storage… having access to your things on these holiday weekends is very important.
In other words, if you have a storage business, you should have a plan to give access to your existing customers, so they can access their belongings.

I used Security Public Storage recently when I had to put most of my belongings in storage for a few weeks between residences. I was highly impressed by the friendly staff, the smooth procedures, the tight security and the spotless premises. The monthly rental was also about 30% less than the quote I got for the same-​sized unit from the other «public storage» facility around the corner. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed after paying a premium compared to a nearby competitor. Problems: 1) was told that I could use truck for BOTH move-​in AND move-​out. Yet when wanting to reserve if for move-​out Manager just hid behind company policy and used the lame excuse that «Bob who told you that is no longer with the company and was inexperienced». Same with 2) Was told how much better and more convenient their more expensive drive-​up units are — so rented one of them instead of significantly cheaper internal unit. Was NEVER told that they are INCREDIBLY DUSTY and that dust blows in through top of rollup door. So did not use anything to cover belongings. Again excuse was used that Bob is no longer with company. No attempt was made to rectify either of those 2 problems. Apathy was shown when I said I am extremely disappointed by this and would post about my negative experience on Unilocal and never rent from them again due to this attitude.

I have been a tenant with them for 2 yrs. Initially I was attracted to being able to get a free moving truck by mentioning the Unilocal ad. They have gone under new management in the middle of my stay but even with each management I have not had a bad experience.
One experience was when one of the temporary personnel tipped me off. I believe he was just making rounds in the hall while I was in my storage & noticed it was half empty. He polked his head in & said «Would you like to down size & save money?» Well that was a no brainer!
2^nd time I down sized, I came in to make my monthly payment. When I came in Desiree was there & she asked how I was & while looking up my account she simply asked «How’s your weekend?» I told her going well, & Im pooped! Then I brought up how I just had a yard sale with ½ of the stuff in my unit. Then like a Lightbulb she said Really? If you like before you make a payment I can walk with you to your unit & see if you are eligible for a downsize. Again I was happy to hear I was saving more money :)

I move a lot. I’m getting pretty good at knowing storage companies and this one is one of the good ones. When we went in a few months ago, we met with Desiree, who is totally kick-​ass and knows her way around the system. We got a nice interior unit on the first floor at a good price, and we took advantage of the moving truck to haul all of the stuff from my most recent move.
Pluses:
Good prices
Super friendly
Carts are handy
Plenty of parking
Interior units are nice and cool
Truck is a huge help
Alarmed units with interior lights
Elevator to get onto upper floors
Minuses:
Getting out of the driveway to turn onto 25^th Ave is pretty gnarly
Units aren’t climate controlled
Not enough carts on a busy weekend
Honestly, they deserve 5 stars, but I was pretty damn spoiled by my last storage in San Diego (they had a bunch of guys on-​site to help you move stuff, plus bottled water and coffee every time you visited!). So, not best in California, but maybe best in the Bay Area?

I recently had to reevaluate my storage situation and possible move into a smaller one. I went in and met with Desiree, she was very nice and accomodating. Walked me to an available storage space that would fit my needs — only a couple doors down from mine! She made it painless and was there to help and answer any questions. Good job security storage, Desiree is GREAT!

Been using this place to store my stuff for a couple of months and the definitely had the best prices around town. The units are very clean and super secure. The staff are really helpful and great customer services!

Contacted them base on Unilocal reviews and my need to store some items long term. Spoke with Joan and she was very nice. Said she would email me some info. Sounds great. Asked her if I could come by and check out some of the units. She said yes. Went by that same day at 4:30, stood around for 15 – 20 minutes. Where is everybody? No one was there… for 20 minutes! Ok, whatever. Went home to check my email, um, nothing came. Called again, Joan said she will re-​send. Um, nothing came and yes, I checked my spam folder too. Gave her a week or so then called and spoke to Mike, he apologized, took my name and number and said he will find out what happened and will email me. Each time I provided my email address, the same one I’ve had for ages. And again, no call no email. I give up. How does it go? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice…
So shame on me for trying 3 times to rent a unit and give these folks money on a monthly basis for the next year or two. I think I may do better a public storage. Can’t be worse than being ignored 3 times. Boo! Boo!

Miiiike Jones! Really though, the management couple Mike and Joan Jones are so fantastic. If I had more stuff to store I would totally rent more space from this place. It’s clean, quiet, and very well maintained. The prices are great and worth every penny. I feel safe coming here, and safe knowing that my stuff is going to be a-​okay.
Even though the office is currently in a metal box due to the construction all my paper work and information was organized and they were on it like white on rice.
For being such a broke bitch all the time if I can afford this level of quality storage I’m way impressed. Thanks guys!

We stored items here for over a year. I was extremely impressed with this place. First of all, the people in the office are great – friendly and helpful. Secondly, the facilities are excellent – every unit has an individualized code for the front gate. If you fail to enter with the right code, then an alarm will go off when you open your unit. Lastly, the place was always kept clean.
My only wish (but I knew this going in) was that the place was a little more temperature controlled. It’s not as if it gets overly hot or cold in the peninsula, but a bit of heat and humidity control wouldn’t hurt for storing nicer items.
Still, for the price, convenience and staff, I give this five stars.

I’m impressed. Reasonably priced plus the coupon — this is the best deal for storage.
The added extras are what really are the seller — and show they are customer service oriented:

I’ve been using Security Public Storage for four months and must say that everyone I have dealt with is profession and very service-​oriented. Couldn’t be happier with the place. Everything is clean and orderly and the staff if super courteous and go out of their way to help out whenever possible.
Basically the experience you expect out of a top notch business.

I found this place because I was looking for the closest storage facility to my house. It turns out that they are the cheapest and friendliest storage place in San Mateo. Every time I call or go into the office to make a payment, they are really nice and helpful.
The only reason it gets 4 stars is that there is no bathroom, which makes if inconvenient if you have to go. There is a bar/​restaurant next door though. They also don’t provide garbage cans, but I can understand that they don’t want people to dump things and have to get rid of it for you.

Security Public Storage is located between Prince of Wales Pub and the Dollar Wherehouse across the train tracks from the San Mateo County Expo Center.
The prices are really reasonable here, especially when there’s a sale. My 5’x10’ unit was half price ($ 56) for the first two months. It’s quite a steal considering that a 5’x5’ unit is $ 84. I called around to find out prices at other storage facilities in San Mateo, and SPS’ were the best.
The overall security at Security Public Storage is very good. If someone opens your storage unit without your pin code upon entry of the premises, an employee will walk over to monitor the area.
All of the employees with whom I’ve spoken with have been very nice and helpful.
There are usually 2 – 3 dollies/​carts under the stairs by each freight elevator. My advice is to use the smallest one, because the green metal carts are VERY DIFFICULT to maneuver. Also, please take note that in the elevator, there’s a switch that holds the door open.
