A 1 Factory Direct Flooring

I am writing this review as my carpet is installed. The installers are Martin and Pedro. They couldn’t be any nicer. Working as fast as they can and diligently. They informed me they did not know the size of my house, wasn’t informed of the timeline, or the agreement to move furniture… but were happy to do it for me.
A1 was referred to me by my realtor. They offer two options when you are selling your home and need new carpet. You can either pay through escrow or pay upfront for a 10% discount. I opted for the 10% discount.
The salesperson I was dealing with was Zack. When Zack came over to survey the carpet, the sizes, etc. he was very personable and thorough. We discussed options, timing, and how important it was to get new carpet installed ASAP. He understood and I felt comfortable with his knowledge of the timeline and carpet options.
After this meeting, things quickly declined. Quotes were never sent on time, communication was lacking (with the infamous– ‘you’ll hear from me tomorrow’), money was never picked up as promised, timeline was confirmed at the last moment. I had to initiate every single communication with Zack. For a $ 4,500 installation, this is poor customer service.
After discussing this with Zack (he arrived to make sure the installers were doing what they were suppose to do), I discussed the lack of communication with him, my disappointment with him, and how I initiated every contact with him regarding deposit to be picked up, dates, timeline. His response was he ordered the carpet immediately and it was being installed now. Oh, and yes, he did blame it on me that I wasn’t available when he wanted to come over to pick up the deposit. That is untrue as I am within a 5 mile radius on my house every single day. Never blame the customer. Poor service again.
While I am confident in the quality of the carpet (and I really don’t care as long as it looks nice when the house goes on the market), I am so unhappy with the service I received from Zack. I wouldn’t recommend this company and will inform my realtor of my experience.

My experience of installing flooring from this company was unpleasant and scary. The rep was a fast talker and aggressive and because I was in a rush to finish the job in 1.5 weeks I agreed with his verbal quote. Once the job started, they began charging for other items we had not discussed. They had promised to deliver detailed pricing by areas and material but never made good on it. So this made it impossible to figure out what items has been added and how things changed. Throughout the job, the rep was loud and abusive whenever I tried to question the charges, and never answered my questions. He would repeat how great their business is, and how people rated them highly, and never had questions from other customers. But in the end they left several holes in my wall and claimed this was the way it always is and they are not going to fix them.
I was afraid at one point to talk with him because he was so loud and threatening on the phone and in person. I paid them what they asked for to avoid any trouble but I would not recommend them.

Bob and Robert are amazing! Love my new floors! Their knowledge and customer service were above and beyond in handling our restoration and flooring. I appreciated that they were there at every step making sure the project was going smoothly, on time and on budget. A1’s flooring crew, «Fred’s Crew», went the extra mile to help with my elderly dog who was confused by all the changes. I can’t thank them enough for their patience and understanding. They even offered to walk him when I wasn’t home! I will definitely be recommending A1 to family and friends.

Just completed the flooring at our home last month after countless hours of planning and I gotta say, they did an amazing job. We had looked around Unilocal and several other places to get quotes and finally decided to go with A1.
When we arrived, Robert began by educating us on how the process works, and offered a few recommendations. He allowed us to take a few sample pieces home to compare and contrast which really helped us finalize our color choice.
A1 offered us very reasonable pricing. We had the carpet ripped out for laminate flooring in the family room, living room and the stairs. They were able to complete the project within the time crunch we were in as well, which really helped.
I gotta say though… a very important reason why we finally decided to go with A1 in the first place is that they didn’t cut corners. I’m not saying others necessarily cut corners, but here’s an example: We walked into a few flooring stores knowing nothing more than the pure basics of the process. Yes we did research, but we definitely relied on the employee’s recommendations for many options. One thing A1 told us about was that when the flooring connects to the base molding of the home, they could do it properly in a way where it looks original. For comparison, another place told us they would have to put a T-​molding in between the laminate and the molding, which would’ve absolutely (in my opinion) not made it look like it was original. That was our goal. Our goal was to exchange the carpet with the laminate flooring, but at the same time make it look natural as if we purchased the home that way. A1 really scored with this one.
We set up and installation date, and the man who was there, Tony, was phenomenal. He was absolutely excellent. He was clear, concise, VERY nice, and advised us of certain on the spot decisions to be made. He gave us recommendations and even changed a couple laminate boards for us that looked a bit weird (we’re very picky). I couldn’t have asked for a better installer. Unrelated, he even drove me to the ER because I had gotten stung by a bee and I’m allergic. Back on the topic, he was great.
All-​in-​all, I’d recommend these guys. We’re pretty picky if you haven’t noticed, and we did a decent amount of research picking the right flooring and the company to install it for us.

We had our 1^st floor + spiral staircase carpet removed, and replaced with a wonderful hickory hardwood. Mike and Adam (installers) were fantastic to work with! They explained every step and worked with and around our family. We were so pleased with the service, install and price. Thank you so much!

They re-​floored my entire house. They worked with me to get the products, price and look I wanted. They moved my furniture and replaced it when done. Their wood floor installer installer Mike was a true craftsman. I am very happy with the work. It totally changes the look of the house.

This review is about customer service as I haven’t seen their work. I set up an appt. on their website appt. setter form and received my email confirmation. Never received a call to confirm the appt. and they didn’t show up. They could’ve called and made an excuse or said «hey we need to reschedule» or «hey we can’t service your area». I would’ve been able to look past that with a simple phone call. Thanks but no thanks.

We are so pleased with our flooring and installation! Our home is beautiful and we are getting rave reviews from our neighbors and friends. They say it looks like a whole new house! First, Bob Chamberlain came to our house and measured the rooms, discussing various types of solutions and what would work best for us. Then, we met with the team at A1 Factory Direct Flooring and they were very patient with us, explaining the differences between each type of flooring. They allowed us to take home several samples to see how it looked in our house. We decided on the African Rosewood laminate with pillowed edges, which looks very high end. Our installation was scheduled for the next week and only took a few days for Mike and his team to install. They did EXCELLENT detail work, and their craftsmanship is the highest quality. They also installed a custom baseboard that we ordered, and it really makes the floor pop. The installation crew used drop cloths to keep the area neat, and cleaned up at the end of each day. They were kind enough to work around our schedule and we really appreciate their hard work. We highly recommend A1 Flooring in San Marcos, California!

After a flood during Christmas week, Rich and the team at A1 went out of their way to get a replacement floor lined up to be installed in just a couple days before Christmas. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get things dried out in time, but couldn’t believe how quickly they were able to make things happen. The floor ended up being so beautiful, that we were almost thankful for the flood! Thanks for a job well done!

Manager Rich Cripe was very helpful in choosing our carpet and floor tile. The installation went very smoothly and the workmanship was excellent. At the end of each workday, our house was always left neat and clean. The job was completed on schedule and budget.

I am extremely happy and satisfied with the entire process of having A1 put hard wood floors in my condo. I was referred to A1 from a friend, and I can now say I would do the same. Within the first few minutes of being in the shop, Rich was able to show me exactly what I was looking for, and had a wide selection of patterns to choose from, some of which I was allowed to take to see which would work best in my place. The appointment for an assessment of the project was quick and easy to schedule, the estimate came extremely close to my estimated budget, which was able to be matched, for which I am extremely grateful for. The project was easily scheduled to accommodate the availability I had, and the project itself was done in an extremely quick, efficient, and professional manner. Fred and his flooring team Fernando and Jose worked extremely fast, had things done quicker and nicer than I ever could have imagined, and were extremely pleasant to meet and be around. The new floors look excellent, and I can not express how excited I am to have had this done. It feels like I just moved into a brand new home! Loved the service and the work provided, and would recommend this company to anyone!

Bob’s the Best! We had A1 install new carpet in our entire house, tile all of our bathrooms, and install hardwood flooring, and they nailed it! Each job was done beyond our satisfaction! We bought a house that needed new paint and new flooring and Bob and A1 came highly recommended, and they delivered. They coordinated with our painters to make sure the flooring was installed on time and that they wouldn’t be in the way of the painters… such a relief that we didn’t have to coordinate the timing of the two jobs. We will definitely be using A1 again in the future.

Bob and Pam provide top-​notch customer service! We recently had a flood that required us to replace all the laminate flooring on our first floor. Not only did Pam get us a great price on some really nice flooring and baseboards, but Bob also worked directly with our insurance company to make sure we got an accurate amount back for our loss. We will definitely be using their services again if we need new flooring/​carpet/​tile in the future.

A1 recently finished installing my beautiful wood flooring. Bob, the owner, worked tiredlessly and patiently with me during the estimate period when I kept changing my mind about where I wanted to do wood flooring in my home. A1’s prices are hard to beat and believe me, I did a lot of shopping around. In the end, I did the entire house with the exception of 2 bedrooms and baths. I am so happy I did! Mike, the installer, and Bernard, who worked along side Mike, did an outstanding job. They showed up on time every day and finished the job on schedule as promised. They left my home clean and placed all my furniture back where it belonged. Bob checked in several times during the week-​long install to ensure I was satisfied with the progress.
