Was at this«classy» bar last night. I am a male, was wearing a tank top shirt, and was asked by the bouncer to put on a shirt… I gestured to a girl wearing far less clothing than I was, and was promptly told that«she didn’t need a shirt» I would never return to a venue with such ridiculously sexist views on men. Outraged is an understatement. The venue itself was very overcrowded, dirty, and the DJ was playing music from over five years ago… All things I could forgive from a bar if they didn’t have such lopsided dress standards. Don’t waste your time with this close minded establishment.

Why do people continue to give this place business? The bouncers are the WORST in town as are the«bartenders» who like to drink as they’re working and I don’t care if you work at a bar or not but being s***faced is such bad business and people should be wary before handing over money/cards. Plus the blatant racist tones that this place seems to think is appropriate that I’ve heard about from NUMEROUS people is also unsettling. Go to f&p, McCarthy’s, Buffalo or SLO Brew.

This is the worst bar/club in San Luis Obispo. Everyone’s creepy or shouldn’t be the type of person going to downtown. I’ve never understood why there’s ever a line out in front.

Weirdest place of SLO, that is the reason why this club rocks!

The Library is my favorite late night bar to go to, as long as they have a good crowd. They’ve got great music, lots of lights, and a small dance floor at the front — it’s definitely a younger crowd. They have a lot of drink specials, especially 2-for-ones. The bartenders are nice also. Not much more you can say about a solid bar with a dance floor.

The library has definitely been a lot better since he remodel as far as atmosphere but it honestly had a lot to do with Brutha C doing karaōke/djing there on certain nights. He always brings a positive attitude and it changes the vibe in the room from good to really fun, it’s contagious. Not to forget the awesome bartenders and the professional cohesiveness of the workers as a team in general. Keep rockin the 1’s &2’s Brutha C!

The Library is so much fun especially on Wednesday nights! Every time I go I get nothing but amazing service from the staff. The bartenders are amazing and make great drinks! On Wednesday nights there is always so much fun on karaōke night with Brotha C he is amazing! He always makes sure that everyone that is there is happy whether they are there to dance or sing. My friends and I always have an amazing time singing and having fun when Brotha C is DJ, Thank you so much for being such an amazing DJ and the best Karaōke DJ I’ve ever met!

This is my absolutel favorite bar in all of Slo! The music isn’t all electronica… like every single other bar in town. They have a very friendly staff and awesome bartenders who are knowledgeable and make amazing drinks! My favorite night to go is karaōke night on Wed nights, the KJ is awesome, he does a really good job reading the crowd and balancing when to have people sing, and when to play music for those who came to dance. Thank you Brotha C for being the best karaōke dj in the county!!!

Aye. Had the shittiest experience with the douche bouncer tonight. I was a weekly customer but never again. Money much better spent at slo brew!

Had to write an update. Now that all my girls are 21, this is our go-to spot for obvi reasons. I’m not trying to hate but really how can you drop down and get your eagle on to live folk music at Frog & Peach? Are you really trying to hit the Bernie to T. Swift at SLO Brew? And I mean fist pumping is cool and all at Motav but if you’re really really reaaaally trying to flex… the Library is your spot.

Came here after ATV riding in the oceano dunes and we were still allowed inside, which means dress code is not enforced. Small venue, but the variety of music and drinks make up for it.

If you love hip-hop music, this is definitely the club to be! Even though the place is small, the DJ’s, alcohol & music make up for it. Definitely a college crowd/scene, so dance with caution. For those that are complaining, just make the best of it or get some drinks to loosen up. ;)

After coming from Mother’s Tavern I was a bit disappointed. It was so cramped and the flow of everything was just terrible. Once you make your way to the bar to get a drink, it’s impossible to go anywhere else. The building is extremely narrow so you really can’t move around. Pros: Good music.(at least the night we went) and no cover. Cons: Crowded with a really poor design.

Stopped here a few years ago on our way back from San Francisco(…to San Diego). I remember driving through this town ’round 10’oclock and thinking about how dead the town was. I mean there was NOBODY on the streets. Looked like a ghost town. The only place that was open was The Library so we gave it a whirl and it wasn’t bad. We had a few appetizers they had on special along with some drinks. I think it was karaōke night also. I probably wouldn’t stop here again, but it was okay.

They have actually really stepped their game up from how this place was. My friends and I usually don’t go not this bar. But one of our friends told us that they remodeled the place, so we had to check it out. The set up is still the same(bar in the middle/back part, DJ still right at the front door, bathrooms in the way back… etc), but the walls are different now. Theres no booth in the front window for dancing… Even the bathroom got a remodel. The music is a little more different too. Still not a complete fan of this place, but the improvements that they made do make it a bit better!

Oh Library, it’s been way too long. The place sounds like our DTLA«Library bar» however, it’s totally different atmosphere and everything else. I do not remember this place having music on repeat so many times. Possibly new DJ or a bad night? The music and the crowd used to be poppin where all the students and adults would have a great time. It’s one of the closest club/dance bars like the ones they would have in SF and LA, not sure no more. I had no complains with their drinks because they were good pours, however, the DJ was horrible that Saturday night. It’s still a bit small inside, and if you’re there on a crowded night, prepare for some squeezing between people and have drinks poured on you. Try to claim the tables on the side between anyone does. At least you and your friends will have a place to leave your jacket and a place to sit while someone goes getting drinks. If you want to dance and don’t mind the squeezing into the dance floor, feel free to. You cannot miss the dance floor when you walk in, because it’s just RIGHT there. Overall, this place is okay. I’ve bumped into mostly Bay area people and LA people saying that this is the closest club/bar they have in SLO. It’s a hit or miss kind of deal here. Best part would be, there’s no cover charge.

Well it’s a crappy bar but if you catch it on the right night it’s a fun time! But if you catch it on a bad night it’s really really terrible! On a good night, Djs are great, music is lively and it’s jam packed. On a bad night, music is horrible, crowd is sleezy, and there is a cover charge. If you come here for nothing else though, come for their drink specials ! 2 for 1 will start off any good night.

This place is no frills, strong drinks at reasonable prices. Get there early so you can snag one of the few tables, which is great for people watching and having some personal space. The Bacardi girls came by with some Bacardi and coke shots in cute little mugs. The music was loud and the dance floor was packed. It was a great mix of people of all ages. I had some delicious shots — Chocolate Cake and Spiced Apple, and unfortunately, the biggest tequila shot I’ve ever seen — I think it was 8oz. I had a lot of fun, but will never drink tequila again!

I spent a good deal of my summer 2011 here. Yes, it’s small. Yes, it’s somewhat ghetto. It also gets dirty really fast. Once it’s packed, it gets really, really hot. The only windows of the place, the front windows, get so fogged up that you can’t even see inside when you’re waiting in line. But for reason, this place has its own charm. It was probably one of my favorite places in DTSLO. I always get AMFs here, and they are gross. But honestly, they do the trick. Sometimes they might be a little strong on the tequila side, but I still get them anyway. When I lost my license and some other cards here, I went back a few times, constantly asking for them to check again and again and again to see if anyone turned it in. I never found my stuff, but they were nice. This place will always be memorable for me.
