I loved my cut and color with Megan! Megan made sure I was comfortable and I got to enjoy a complimentary beverage ;) such a great start to my weekend. The overall energy of the salon gave off good vibes — everyone was happy to be there! The little patio out back is awesome! Definitely recommend!

I have been a loyal fan on Chantal’s hair skills for 5 years. Chantal always pours her heart into each cut and will not finish until I am completely happy. I love Gypsy and Oak Salon. Its quaint, comfortable, intimate, and I feel like I get full salon service. Megan is awesome with color and always knows how to cut and style my thick, full head of hair. She is very personable, along with the other stylists, and she always listens to my needs and concerns. I also love how the salon features a local artist every month or so. Many of the pieces are mixed media and fun to look at as I’m getting a blowout. I highly recommend this little gem of a salon.

I followed her from a previous salon and couldn’t be happier! She does a fabulous job and has a great personality! She truly wants you to LOVE YOUR HAIR! She makes sure you don’t leave unless you’re absolutely thrilled with the new do! My hair is very long and dark but now I’m a blonde. She always takes the time to get it all done and we are able to chat the whole time! So happy to have somebody so knowledgeable, friendly and professional do my hair! If you’re looking for a simple cut, a whole new style, a fancy new hair color or just something new and fun SHES YOUR GIRL! This salon is also super cute and small and feels very comfortable! They have cute art and the simplicity of it makes you feel like you’re with friends rather than a loud and chatty salon! (: love my hair!

My experience here was great!
Paige is a great stylist, she is bubbly all the time! She’s not a new stylist but new to this salon I followed her from another salon and she just keeps getting better. Sitting in her chair is always fun! She is great with color knowledge and cuts! Would always trust her with my hair! I am actually a stylist so I know the do’s and dont’s of hair and so does Paige!
This salon is super cute and trendy! It’s small but that is something I personally enjoy because I am able to really connect with my stylist!
I also love that it’s easy to park! The salon itself uses davines which smells absolutely amazing!
Being in slo this couldn’t be a better location!
When it comes to my hair I don’t enjoy a lot of upkeep. I like to come to the salon when I feel like it not cause I really need my hair done.
My Balayage (hand painting) is seemless! If you are interested in a natural look Paige is the stylist you want! She also does melted high lights which is something you don’t see too often and its a great way to make your hair look really natural.
I would highly recommend this salon to everyone!

Unfortunately Jessica has left her business to others except one day a week. I found Jessica to be very kind and friendly and communicative.
I have thick long hair and up to the last visit paid a 20% tip at each appointment. My hair is a lot of work and I really appreciate good stylists and their hard work. The last horrible appointment was the exception though.
First 3 appointments were w owner and last three w Megan. Owner referred me to Megan until she returned. The owner told me she trusted her w all her clients, so I thought I could too. Megan does not greet you with a big smile like Jessica does, which is my first clue to start looking somewhere else. Why give money to someone who isn’t happy to see you? My fault for sticking it out 3 appointments w Megan (I actually thought the first appt went ok), hoping Jessica would come back.
Rude awakening: Just got the haircut AND color by Megan from 5 weeks ago corrected yesterday by another salon, NOT this one. Tried to get an appt w Jessica but Sunday morning is just not convenient for me. Had an appt January 3 2016 where I hoped to settle all this, but owner canceled. Several texts I sent to try to clarify reschedule did not get returned. I was driving 50 miles round trip to get to this salon and would have continued if I had not been so disappointed w all of this.
This new stylist/​owner pointed out that there is a «hole» in my cut on right side of head that doesn’t match the rest of the cut. I could see it! Wow. Also Megan cut a piece of my bangs on the side where the temple is which «should never be cut». It’s the piece that blends down and long into longer hair. But now it is short as bangs and will take a long time to grow out and correct. Was this a bad day…
Also Megan splashed water all the way down my back, soaking my shirt to the shoulder blades, while rinsing from my color. I told her that I wasn’t comfortable and she somehow did not know how to fix the connection of my neck and the chair and the basin. ?? She kept washing and voila… Soaked!!! That’s never happened before there or other places. No comment or apology for the incident either. Yuck!
Confusing disappointment: Jessica told me she was going to use a ASH COPPER color from Davines when I first arrived at her salon. Davines is THE ONLY company that has this color! When I left this salon 5 weeks ago I was shocked to find that this whole time (6 visits only) she has used a NUETRAL WARM instead. I asked for the color history. The owner had sold me on how fabulous this ASH COPPER color was, and I have a copy of her work memo/​color card that says nothing about the ASH COPPER. Do people think we as customers won’t find out?
My new stylist has explained why my hair turned so GOLDEN (yuck faded bland color) using the NW color. And how the color was not as rich and deep as the ASH COPPER would have been. She asked «did she not have any in the cupboard and just picked something else?». I do not know …
Good thing: Jessica sits at the beginning of every appt to consult w you, nice touch, you feel listened to by her.
I wish the best to Jessica and I get that I came into her life when she was pregnant and everything changing and exciting…
But her name is on the business and if she refers someone in her business and they are not as experienced as she explains… It lands back on her. Also people remember when they have been sold on something and then it turns out to be IN WRITING totally different.
The good news: From a Davines «color educator» (shorter drive, too) at a different salon… today I have gorgeous ASH COPPER color and it will take awhile to fix the bangs. The uneven part on the right side is not so obvious since the trim… But nonetheless I am glad I changed to another salon when I did.
Bottom line: DO MORE RESEARCH WHEN YOU GET REFERRED, ask better questions, it’s your money and hair!

Jessica aka Luckie is awesome. She is kind, patient, and and thorough. Her top priorities are to have you leave the salon feeling happy (and sexy), and also to make sure that she keeps the integrity of your hair intact throughout any kind of coloring process. I was nervous about getting my virgin hair colored, but she put me at ease and I couldn’t be happier. Thanks Luckie!

Luckie is thee best there is. I came in with a really bad head of blonde hair. It was really yellow, orange, and brassy; I hated it. I heard of great reviews about Luckie so I gave her a try. She took her time to walk me through what was wrong with my hair and how to help achieve what I wanted and needed. She took the time to get to know my hair and how it processes with bleach, she didn’t just slap it on and send me under a dryer. She let it process naturally and watched it every step of the way. She also put on an amazing mask that made my hair super healthy and beautiful again. By the time she was done with my hair, I was in shock. It’s no longer yellow or brassy. It’s a super sexy sandy blonde. I look like a Victoria secret model with this hair! She also recommended cutting it since I had no style to my hair, and she worked her magic again! I highly recommend Luckie, she takes her time to get to know you and realy does hair the right way.

Ok, so I’m a brunette (dark brunette) who has been dying my hair blonde for 10 years. Needless to say, this is a task in itself and I’m super picky about how my hair comes out. With that in mind, you need to know Luckie is incredible! Seriously, she’s a hair genius or whisperer. She took my color to the next level. After a thorough consult she got started on my hair. I have A LOT of hair so this was not a quick process. Luckie explained what she was doing with the two tones of color, how the processing worked, how little damage would be done to the integrity of my hair (and when you go blonde repeatedly lots of damage can ensue). She took the time to perfect the color to be the tone that I wanted and really cared about my thoughts/​feelings. I will 100% be coming back to see Luckie, if you want amazing hair you’ll see her too.

I have been seeing Jessica for almost two years and every single time walk away with a perfect experience. She knows exactly how to color my hair (even going from naturally light blonde hair to dark red). Also the hair care products they use are really high quality, and definitely worth it!

Jess, also known as Luckie is amazing! She does super fun cuts and is great with color. She listens to what you are asking for and explains why it would or would not work. She learns what you are after and advises you the right path. I’ve also worked with her on a professional level doing events, fashion shows and model shoots and have seen her wide range of work. The salon has a great and friendly vibe and not only does Jess rock at what she does, she’s super fun to hang out with while you get your hair did too! I recommend her all the time, not only to strangers that compliment but to colleagues and clients of my own.

Cute little salon! Jessica was awesome. She’s so friendly & easy to talk to, plus she did a great job with my hair. Finding a hairstylist I like enough has been a loonngg journey for me, so I don’t mind making the 45min drive for my hair if this is where my hair wants to go (my hair said yes).

I came in needing help with some fake looking highlights. Luckie took her time explaining what she was going to do and it turned out fantastic. I am very happy with how it turned out and left feeling great. Luckie did a flawless job warming up my color and minimizing the harsh lines that I came in with at my roots. I will most definitely be booking with her next time I need my hair done!

I followed Jessica over here form Bluebird salon. I live in Santa Barbara, but I drive all the way up to SLO to have her do my hair! I’ve never had anyone do as great a job as she does. She listens but also makes suggestions, and is very professional. I never leave disappointed.

This was my second visit and it was a nightmare! Everything and beyond went wrong. I went to Stefani and I had my 14 yr old daughter and 2 ½ yr old son. They were quiet and well behaved. Apparently that wasn’t good enough. After consulting with me on what I wanted Stefani started putting foils in my hair and kept looking back atmy kids who were still quietly looking at the I pad. She huffed and indirectly told my son to turn down what he was watching. Which was Curious George and wasn’t bothering anyone but herself. I explained to her that my sitter was unavailable due to death in family and she coldly said I could have rescheduled. I said I was unaware that children were unwelcome especially ones that are well behaved. She said it was unspoken rule in all salons in SLO that no kids are allowed and said that there was an area in the back outside they could go. I could not see them so I didn’t send them outside. She scoffed because two people came in and they had to share a chair and said «of course it has to be busy»
I said I wish you would have told me before you started my hair because now it’s just awkward
She said she obviously has no problem with kids and she pointed to her own in a photo she had at her station and said she was going to hear it from the owner when I left.
At that point I still had foil in my hair. 2hrs later she was washing my hair and all that was on my mind is I want to leave and never come back. You can be rude to me all you want but when it comes to my kids you have awoken the mama bear from hibernation.
I left with my hair wet and when I got home and dried it, was not what I asked for! I had asked her to leave my root color as is but to cover the grey, and to highlight pieces throughout that seemed warm and to remove a yellow piece that was underneath. What I got was orange roots, and a purple and yellow piece that had not been removed.
Upon calling the salon the next morning the owner called me back. I told her the story and although she apologized that’s all I got. She said she’d talk to the hair dresser.
Now I have to go and pay someone else to fix this mistake

I had Jessica cut my hair for the first time and I was impressed. Not only was my hair cut exactly the way I wanted it, she went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy.
I will be going back and I would definitely refer friends and family.

I went to see Megan a few weeks back and was thrilled with her haircut, she made time for me early in the day to accommodate me and I am very happy, if you are looking for a new salon to try give them a shot. you will not be disappointed.

Jessica made me feel from the get go that she was capable and confident. She is funny and sweet, straightforward and talented. The head massage that came along with my cut was BOSS, worth the visit.
I was happy with my haircut. It was a nice combo of my ideas and hers.
$ 60 for a basic cut. $ 70 with a tip. This wasn’t cheap but I appreciate the quality of the products they use and I will go back.
