I actually came here for my friends baby shower, which they had out on the back patio. It’s a beautiful location, even though it was a bit breezy, it was still a nice venue for it. I have to admit, most of our wineries here are on gorgeous grounds. I only gave it 3 stars though because I didn’t really do any wine tasting, just had a glass of the Chardonnay they had served for the party, and it was a nice white wine. I didn’t even go check out the inside of the winery because they had the private party closed for out back. Like I said, beautiful location and I would have never thought for an event such as a baby shower. but it worked!

Fabulous Edna Valley Pinot Noir. Lovely tasting experience. Must not miss this when in the San Luis Obispo area.

A cool looking barn with an inviting back patio for tasting. The crew does a professional job of describing their lineup and the wines held their own. Yes, the tasting fee would be waived with a purchase of two bottles. I acquiesced with a Califa Chardonnay and the Stainless Steel Pinot Noir which IMO was the best value. The Edna Valley seems to be developing that Napa attitude but Chamisal is understated in their approach.

We wine tasted at Chamisal and it was pleasant. My wife and I did the Estate Tasting, which allowed us to sit on the back patio overlooking the vineyards. If you choose the less expensive tasting, you get a front patio that is small and closed off, next to the parking lot. If you buy 2 bottles of wine, you get to waive 1 tasting fee. Kind of pricey, actually, considering their cheapest bottle on the wine-tasting menu is $ 28 dollars. We ended up tasting 5 wines within the Estate Flight, and they were all pretty good. The Pinot was a little warm for my taste, but good nonetheless. We looked around and a variety of people were there. Families were there with their kids just enjoying the views with a glass, while their kids played. There were young adults there 25 – 30 year olds, who you could tell liked to showoff how their latest fashion and blingage, and even some older folks who were just enjoying some wine and the views, with no agenda. We met an older couple and chatted a bit, and they were really nice. The patio has a limited number of seats, so if it is busy you make new friends quite easily. :) The wine-tasting experience was pretty good. The host came over and explained the tasting selections and the wine club. All in all, it was pleasant. I would recommend that you skip the tasting, buy a single bottle, and go share it with simeone on the back patio. Its less expensive and more enjoyable that way in my opinion. Thats what a lot of others did while we were there. The Estate Chardonnay is really good. The Estate tasting comes with 5 wine tastes, and our host threw in one more sample. $ 25 each for 6 tastes each = awesome.

We had a delightful meal where pasta and wine were superb! Caleb was our waiter and was very knowledgeable about local wines and the menu. We had the linguine with shrimp, scallops and vodka pancetta sauce. Awesome! The fish was perfectly cooked. The bread was maybe the best we’ve ever tasted. Crusty on the outside but soft on the inside served with a wonderful dipping sauce. My pappardelle was tasty with thick ribbon pasta. The pastry chef Michella produced the BEST gelato. We were lucky enough to have an opportunity to visit with her. How wonderful to meet someone passionate about her work!

Everything we wanted in a winery. Coming from Wolff, which had a tiny tasting room and was packed, we stopped at this cute little red tasting house. The staff was AMAZING. We were served by the French gentleman(did not get his name). He is part of the winemaking team and is extremely knowledgeable about everything he pours. And friendly. We decided to get a glass after the tasting because we were enjoying the environment so much. STOPHEREYOUWILLNOTREGRETIT!

Great wine and left with a case of wine between the two of us. Several great wines but the Pinot Noir’s were superb. Jake was a great host and is a great asset to the tasting room

I will just say… the manger needs a bit more training in customer service. If a guest has a problem, the manager should have the skills to take care of the guest and not argue with them, if they would like them to return or recommend their establishment.

A top event of the year here on the central coast – lobster games, Morro Bay oyster company, Haute Catering with many amazing Peruvian infused appetizers, a great dinner, music by DJ Danny Steil, and of course, the lovely wines of Chamisal Vineyards. You have to sign up on January 1st and its not a cheap dinner but IS a totally fun and well worth the splurge! Consider this as a top wine related event here on the central coast.

Great little tasting room with a pretty awesome patio, very large with shade or sun depending on your fancy. Wine is superior to most in the region. The Califa chardonnay and Califa pinot noir are stunning. Service on the patio got off to a rocky start, especially since we were told to go outside and relax and they would bring us the wines. That didn’t happen for quite some time, had to go back inside ourselves a few times. But Brittany(Britney?) got us back on track and made the experience very enjoyable. A definite must hit if you are tasting in the Edna Valley.

Snobbish attitude if your not the appropriate race, sad to say. Never been more uncomfortable. Constant looks to see if we have left yet. Instead of asking if we are doing ok or need anything. We bought a bottle, and watched others get the royal treatment. Never coming back!

What a beautiful place to be at on a Saturday day! Chamisal is located off the beaten road as I was recommend this place by a fellow co-worker. There are vineyards for miles and as far as the eye can go. For a while, my friends and I thought we were lost since we drove for a good 10 – 15 minutes through the vineyards just looking for this place. It may have helped they had better signage so you have an idea on where you’re going as there are a number of other vineyards to Chamisal. They have an indoor and outdoor area, but the latter is definitely their brochure moment, as I like to say. The indoor area has no seating but more of a stand only«bar». The outside patio area is absolutely amazing as you get a beautiful view of the vineyards. The only problem was that it was quite windy that day(as expected of central coast CA). I would’ve like to seen seating inside as it almost go so unbearable that we had to leave. We opted for the basic wine flight which is $ 15 for 4 types of wine — their pours are TINY. I’ve been to tastings before, and they are always so much more generous. We also ended up ordering a bottle of their famous white wine(the name is escaping me, but something ‘silver’). That was probably one of the better tasting ones as it was a Chardonnay but it didn’t have that sharp taste to it.

Service was great, scenery was beautiful and wines were delicious. It was a bit expensive, but luckily our group received a discount because we knew the server. Fun times!

We love this place. Great wines, and excellent staff and service. I love that they remember us and recognize us when we walk in the door, even though we had only been once before and a couple of months had passed. We love their Pinot’s and even their whites. Highly recommend bringing a picnic lunch and taking your time eating while tasting on the patio. A beautiful place with lovely wines.

Hard to a winery this rating. Did three estate tastings at $ 25 each. Walked out without buying a single bottle. Does that say something. Chardonnay was too cold. Servers, though cordial, didn’t really any detailed information about the wine. $ 75 minimum purchase to wave your $ 25 tasting fee is a big turn off! They said they do that to discourage calpoly students from hanging around. What? I didn’t see and goofy college kids there…

We used to come here to get a bottle of wine and sit out on the main patio overlooking the vineyard. However they have changed their policy and now only allow wine club members, and those doing the $ 25 per person«estate tasting», out on the patio. They relegate everyone else, including those doing the basic tasting and buying bottles, to inside, or on the tiny side patio, which is clearly not as nice and only has views of some weeds, their dumpsters, and a tiny sliver of the vineyard. The woman who told us about this new policy was rude and essentially kicked us off the main patio. This place has become way too pretentious for SLO, no other winery in the area does this kind of stuff. We actually were considering becoming wine club members prior to this, however I will not give my money to a business who segregates their customers.

SPITTOONINGTRIP8÷24÷13 Well since this was after the great wolff wine experience, it was anti-climactic! sucky whiney stuff included: 1) the exponential increase of tourist pests (hey, after a year… i am a local and can say that… it is also in my «backyard» of shell beach …so stay the hell out of my back yard!). 2) the big increase in the price of my spittooning a whole $ 15 to spit fermented grape juice into a spittoon. see the fat idiot, me, spit for $ 15! what, am i in the friggin circus! if so, they should pay me!!! 3) the big increase in bottle prices, even with spittooning, the wines were starting to all taste like… well…wine…ha ha ha… anyway the cheapest good pinot was $ 48(i got the pinot noir for $ 48& pinot gris for $ 24), while some that were not available for tasting were $ 100. i would have loved to taste those, but apparently i was part of the ignorant tourist masses & was not worthy! well, i will show them & not join their dumb wine club… at least one of the other wine clubs have an astronomy night… now that is so cool, snooty but cool!(@ claibourne & churchill) 4) my server was quite cool & nice, but the general feeling of this place was kind of hectic, chaotic, impersonal, and not relaxed. damned tourists! 5) now i had to buy two bottles not to pay the dumb spittooning fee! arg! 6) view was no-where near as nice as wolff’s! good stuff included: 1) good but generally pricey wines… the next pinot up was like $ 68! whaaaaat! then $ 100! hey, i am happy with fat cat at $ 10 a bottle… non-vintage, from god-knows where… found at whole foods and then at safeway in modesto of all places… but after 2 cases &2 years, i think sadly it is no more… got to love these generic treasures! 2) great flavored unaffiliated vingar & olive oil tasting in the back, which most seemed not to notice. the girl stated that they roved from vineyard to vineyard each weekend. very yummy flavored balsamic vinegars… such as lemon or blackberry. got both for $ 40… oh…just add it too my tab… lol!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ the aftermath or the saga of post-spittooning: anyway… buying a bottle or two at each stop was finally taking both a financial toll & was giving me a great big headache! the big headache: was due to: either/or/both: 1– not eating all day and it was like 4pm 2– sloppy spittooning & not rinsing with water between or after tastes… 3– absorption of fermentation congeners(or other wicked stuff) via the mucosal mouth tissue(e.g. formaldehyde, secondary & tertiary alcohols, acetone, sulfites, etc. dozens of tastes= ¼ glass of wine? who knows… but i was done tasting and on my merry way to test red dirt coffee café’s(in grover beach, on grand ave.) great hawaiiian plate lunch & banish my headache & hunger games… oppss, pangs!!! (it turned out to be amazing & just as good as the better ones in hawaii, and best of all you do not have to go thru a scanner & expose your fat rumpled rump to some tsa lady !!!)

Really cool tasting room and very friendly staff. We tasted at the bar inside but they have 2 big outdoor patios where you can do the tasting as well. Maybe one of the nicest wineries to spend a leisurely hour or two outside at on a summer afternoon. Wines were good too!
