I have been coming here since it has opened and it has always been great. I have even converted people from hating/never trying Indian food to loving it. The food is always good and service is great, the lunch buffet has got to be one of the best deals in the whole bay area. $ 10 for buffet and soda, and the food is always delicious and plenty to choose from. The only problem I have had was when I ordered delivery once and it did take around an hour and 20 minutes but that was around the time they told me to begin with, I thought it was a long time but at least I wasn’t surprised by it.

I’ve only gotten take-out from them but I’ve been very pleased so far! I’m not adventurous when it comes to Indian food(Southern Asians help ya girl out!) so I’ve only had their butter chicken, tikka masala, and aloo gobi(special request for no cilantro!). Their portions are HUGE — I had enough for 3 meals myself and one other person. Prices are fantastical for the amount of food you get($ 25 to qualify for delivery). The only issue I’ve had was the wait of the delivery from my first time ordering, but it was really moreso with Eat24 guestimating the ETA(they said 10 minutes, actually took over 90 minutes because of the weekend dinner rush). The second time it only took 20 minutes. I don’t mind waiting but if you tell me 10 minutes while I’m starving, and then food not showing up til almost 2 hours later, YEAH I’m going to be a smidge annoyed. Howevever, I love the food and I’ll definitely keep ordering from them!

Now, I’m telling you right off the T-O-P, it’s not Shalimar. And of course, I bring my bias and palate as one; I ate lunch at Shalimar on yesterday, so trying out a new spot is simply for convenience, not comfort. Handsome delivery gent; brought after closing and right on time as I delve into E2 of «Roots.» Not a fan of chicken breast, ever, so the mixed grill shrimp and need kabob was preferable over the chicken. Decent favors and decent prices. Presented piping hot and remained 45min contained after delivery. The kids are happy we received an abundance of c breasts so money is not lost. Would order again in a pinch and the variety of naan at $ 5 is worth alternative choice. Time to grub.

First time here and we really enjoyed the lunch buffet. We were a large group of 12 ppl and were accommodated rather easily. We’re regular Shalimar’s customers so we consider ourselves a little snobby when it comes to Indian food. The buffet offered plenty of vegetarian and vegan options which makes lunch easier when the rest of the group prefers meat dishes and you’re the only one with dietary restrictions. I’m picky about raita and this spot had a good one. For $ 10 per person with a fruit lineup and drinks included, this place is a great deal.

We wanted to leave an updated review for the lunch buffet. For $ 8(I think it was? I don’t remember now) the food and options were gr WA the. Omg, the butter chicken was divine! The channa tikka masala was spicy but good. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. They have signs that say«don’t leave food on your plate,» etc, wanting you to only take what you can eat, which is totally understandable. I overheard a customer asking for a box to take food home, I don’t know if they gave her one or not. She said she didn’t want to waste her food, and they said she shouldn’t have taken so much… for all-you-can-eat buffets, I don’t think you should be allowed to take a box home, especially when the price is this low. They’re meant to be eaten at the restaurant! Anyway, thoroughly happy. We are sad we moved out of the area!

We just went there for our 24th Wedding Anniversary Lunch. The food are delicious and clean. We can see who are preparing for the food and they’re friendly and motivated. I recommend everyone to try once in a reasonable rate of $ 9.95 for buffet for a person.

I’ve been going out of my way to find good, quality chicken vindaloo. I used to go to H.O.C.(the chain) but the flavor for some reason has been evolving to something different. The other chain, F.O.I.(the other chain), doesn’t give enough of a generous portion. This spot delivers for all of the above.

Their food is delicious, delivery is on time and customer service is pleasant. So far I’ve had the chicken tikka masala, the butter chicken and the lamb curry, all flavorful and has the right amount of spices. The garlic naan is also delicious, I prefer this over the plain one. Will definitely come again!

The Chicken Tika Massala was tasty. And the Samosas were good as well. One of the better Indian places in the area

I like this place so much. I come here once a week to eat and it is so worth it. The butter chicken masala is to die for and their naan is made fresh and delicious. Yum yum yum. Enough for two meals in one order. Their lunch buffet is great!!! Their selection is super good and they keep it stocked and hot. They also have chai tea in the buffet and it’s great and authentic like everything else in this Resturant. Come here and be happy. :)

It’s pretty good food, tho I don’t know how the quality is since its smothered in seasoning. They have lunch buffet, of course, with quite a bit to choose from. The place is an okay size but can fill up quickly. They always always always have parking. Service is pretty good. Do not order Togo through Unilocal, they will not receive it.

A decent variety of food that was authentic and tasty. My favorite was a tie between the Egg Curry and the Cauliflower. Maybe I’m biased since I can’t resist eggs and cauliflower on any given day. Seeing these 2 items together made me squeal w/joy. The veggies weren’t overcooked and still retained a bite. Other notable items were the rice and the crispy fish pieces. There’s plenty of parking and the service was good. They kept refilling our cups and the water was ice cold. Only complaint is that the cups for the milk tea were dirty. Several of them.

Lunch buffet was very good. Lots of variety and the dishes for the buffet were freshly cooked. Butter chicken was exceptional. Only minus would be the tandoori chicken did not have much taste and was a bit cold. Service was good. The waiter will take requests free of charge. One person in our group wanted garlic naan and they made it without extra charge. Also refillable soda from the machine is part of the buffet price. Nice. Very filling lunch!

$ 9.95 lunch buffet. Curries tasted slightly watery and bland. Hot naan at your table and pretty decent chai. The meats were tough and dry. The fish was salty. I would say the vegetarian items were much better. There are about 10 – 12 main food options and another stand with salad and fresh fruit. They open at 11 am on weekdays but didn’t unlock doors until 11:20 am when we went.

I used to live in this area and was so surprised to see alll the changes since I haven’t been here in so long. It’s a bit depressing to see all the shops that have closed nearby. My friends chose this Indian restaurant to meet up for dinner since it was in the middle of us, and we wanted to avoid a bunch of traffic. We got here around 7:30, and they had alot of seating inside, this is a decently large restaurant. They give a crispy sesame seed chip like cracker for appetizer with a green sauce, and a spicy red sauce. We ordered chicken saag, extra spicy paneer, and chicken tikka masala. The chicken saag was freaking delicious, it looked so unappealing but the taste was so savory and the chicken was super moist. The extra spicy here made my mouth burn so hard, I had to eat quite a bit before I could taste the sauce itself. It ended up being pretty tasty, and I think I will order extra spicy again next time but be sure to have some yogurt sauce or something on the side. The chicken tikka masala was so creamy, and had nice large chunks of tender chicken. The basmati rice that came with our meal was a bit oily, luckily we ordered garlic naan as well. $ 39 for three ppl, which is a decent price since we had food leftover and were pretty stuffed.

Ten dollars for unlimited naan, garlic naan chicken tikka Marsala, fish pakoras, vegetable pakoras, goat curry, hard boiled egg curry and like 20 other options is a STEAL. I like flavors of India because I never have to wait for naan here. They check on the naan frequently and there had not been a time where I came to get food and the naan wasn’t empty. Naan naan naan naan naan. That’s what I sound like. I’ve been to other Indian buffets and some places you have to request for more naan. Naant here … Get it? . Service was okay, they run around like they were super busy I guess because they get a lot of to go orders. BOTTOMLINE India buffets are a steal and I am definitely be back here, especially after a good work out… GAINS

Really delicious food and great pricing! I stopped by here on my way back from the outlets in Livermore and WOW! Excellent saag paneer… I requested less paneer, less salt, less oil and no extra cream(yes, I’m a health nut) and it seemed like they followed through. The roti was great, too. I didn’t feel sick after eating after, so I’m hoping that’s cuz they put less butter/cream(which usually does the trick). Will definitely return if I am back in the area. YAY!

Ordered delivery from Unilocal and not only did everything come 4 minutes early, it was all piping hot! The Naan was fresh and too hot to eat(oh darn lol). The chicken Tikka masala was GLORIOUS. I asked for mild and it was just the right amount of kick. This place also has the BEST raita. Fresh carrot and cucumber pieces and bold flavor = also glorious. I’ve never tried chicken biryani before but I did tonight and it was a great purchase. Tasty, hot, and a huge portion(lunch tomorrow anyone?). Basmati rice was awesome as well. I’ve only been to a handful of Indian restaurants in my life, but I love the food and this is now my new favorite place.

About $ 10 for the lunch buffet! It includes all different kinds of curry, including lamb curry which was my fav! This is place is pretty worth it considering all the kinds of food they serve. Theres also a pretty extensive salad/dessert buffet. and of course unlimited naan included!
