Vic is the real deal! Very dedicated to his work, very respectful, great service and friendly. Tune up is definitely affordable. Every time I need a quick fix, tune up or parts, Vic’s always the first place I come to. I rather go to a pop shop/​local shop instead of those big, fancy, I’m going to overcharge you bike shops. I’ve been coming to Vic’s for 3 – 4 years now and NEVER once I have been disappointed. I always appreciate his work and would bring donuts to show that I really do. Tip also but who doesn’t appreciate donuts?! Anyway, to any of you bicyclist looking for a fix, Vic’s is the deal.
Quick first time story: One day I came into the shop and got a tune up for my hybrid road bike. Dropped it off, came back 2 – 3 hours later and Vic asks me «are you a student?» I said yea, I go to Chabot College and he gave me a deal! $ 20 for a tune up! I was not expecting that at all. Such a sweet dude and very supportive because at that time being a college student meant you’re always broke! So he understands what being a student meant! Lmao. Anyway, ever since then I’ve been coming back and recommended all my friends and broke college student friends to try Vic’s and they haven’t been disappointed at all.

This is thee best bike shop in town, trust, don’t go anywhere else or you’ll be ripped off! I tried to fix my own freewheel and found out that bikes’ have small ball bearings that fall out and are hard to put back in. Vic handled this issue in no time and charged me minimally compared to other shops in the area (*cough* Hayward Cyclepath *cough*). Plus he stayed late at the shop until I had time after work to pick it up, I mean c’mon that’s customer service! I’ll go here for any further issues with my bike. Thanks Vic!

I have been bringing all of my families and friends bikes here for years, and have given up completely on all other bike shops.
I have come to the conclusion that Vic is secretly an independently wealthy philanthropist, whose passion in life is to fix bikes for other people.
That’s the only way to explain how honest, generous, and reasonably priced his services are. In fact they are always under charging you. Once I thought I was in for a major repair: when I came back, he’s like, «I just replaced the thingamajig. It’s $ 25.»
There’s no upsell, nothing like the relentless sales talk you get from other places, where you always feel they’d rather sell you something then just fix the bike. Or, that they intend to do more than your bike really needs, and add expensive services. None of that.
You won’t find a fancy computerized data driven system here: in fact, he’ll write your name and number down in a three ring spiral notebook, and he remembers you from the last time you were there. And you like that, because you know he’s not making expensive payments on that system, and he already owns all his tools.
If you wish you had an older brother or uncle, who would just fix your bike and tell you the truth, that’s Vic.
He often seems to be mentoring young guys who are as excited and as enthusiastic about fixing your bike as he is. The kid finished up my bike under Vic’s watchful eye, took it for a quick test drive, he’s like, «try it!», Like the waiter at Ruth Chris steakhouse, hovering over you to make sure your steak is perfectly done.
Bring all your bikes here with confidence, he will get them up and running in the best shape ever, and not charge you an arm and a leg.

Vic is legit. He heard everything I wanted, sent me pictures of options prior to completion. And gave me a break on the price. If your in the area and need some bike repairs, start here.

If I can’t repair it, I come to Vic’s. He always takes care of my 24″ BMX. Most repairs are same day. Great prices!

Took our bikes here to get a tune up after not using them for a couple of years. Quick service and the price is decent. Definitely recommend!

Vic is the best and took the time to make a spoke for me. Threaded before my eyes. A real life saver. This
shop is set up and very friendly. If you need air or want to look at new or older and vintage cool stuff.

The prices are very fair and reasonable. They got what you need from your road bike to the kids bike.

Honest, fast, reasonable fees, and I feel good since I am supporting a small businesses — repaired a flat tire that Archer bike did not find and no water bath needed as it was a obvious hole if one took the tire off and looked at the tube, fixed my gear shifter and replaced my handle bar pads. Will be back. Thanks Vic — I am back biking.

Great service, very nice guy. Prices are reasonable. Total time to change tires took about 15 – 20 min. He even offered to buy ice cream when the vendor passed by.

Excellent quick service Victor help me out got me taken care of in 15 – 20 minutes and throw in an extra plastic to put around the tire to stop it from going flat highly recommended

Vic is a very friendly guy. When we needed bikes for cruising around San Leandro, we came here. It took as a while to decide, since Vic has a lot of (Frankenstein — or so we like to call them, since they are different bikes assembled together) bikes inside and in front of the store, but can also get you something of your own choosing (you tell him, what exactly you want on a bike, and he’ll assemble it for you).
My used bike was not all that cheap, but the service outweighed the high (er) price. He is also my to-​go place if I get a flat tire or any other bike problem.

Started commuting by bike to work everyday and this place is on my way home. Found it out of necessity after getting a flat and they had me repaired and on my way home within 15 minutes. Costs are reasonable and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely be back for future maintenance needs.

My front tire was wobbly so I came to Vic’s bikes, seen this plenty of times in the past but never went in til today. He trued my rim, and did a great job. Also I bought tubes and a tire and he didn’t charge me much… I’m a happy customer, I’ll be back! ^_​_​^

I recently brought a bike here that needed some TLC before I could give it to my friend. At Robinson Wheel Works I got quoted $ 300+ bucks after they tried to upsell me on other things that the bike didn’t really need, and all I was asking for was for a basic tune and a part replacement. So, I decided to bring the bike here for a quote.
Vic is a very honest and generous dude. He quoted me $ 65 bucks for exactly what I was asking, plus he advised that I purchase a part that I needed off of Ebay to save some money instead of having him order it for me. $ 65 bucks later and the bike was rideable again.
Bring your bikes here if you want a fair price. For a dh fork rebuild or something technical I would probably take it to a different shop that specializes in those types of things, but for anything else, like a simple tune or repair, you should totally bring your bike to Vic’s.

Go to Vic’s Bikes quite often. He is a very honest and generous business owner. I would see him help EVERYONE. He does his best to help you in a timely manner. He was very truthful with a sale of a bike for my lady telling her it’s not what she was looking for. He told her she had a great bike already. His prices are very fair and at times even less then most big brand stores.
Do definitely tell everyone to go here.

Service was excellent, fast turnaround time for what I thought was going to be a time consuming repair. Well done and for a good price at that! It’s a shame that the whole experience wasn’t this great — they were distant and unfriendly despite my smiles and politeness, to the point that I just felt uncomfortable to be there. I would go again because they obviously know their stuff tho.

I’m riding my bike again! Since moving to the area, I’ve been wanting to get around on bike, but there were some issues with my bike — the wheels and chain kept falling off & one of the wheels wasn’t aligned right. Thanks to the other Unilocal reviews, I decided on Vic’s Bikes and I’m glad I did.
Victor is a great guy and the bike shop is a real asset to the community. He fixed my bike at a totally affordable price and had it ready in less than 24 hours. Based on the number of bikes that were in for repair I bet he is keeping half of San Leandro on their bikes!
This is exactly the kind of small business that any town would be grateful to have.

I was looking for a bike to purchase and decided to visit Vic’s after reading all the good reviews on Unilocal.
First impression: A small shop with a true «neighborhood» bike shop feel to it, like ones I grew up seeing around my child neighborhood (in Brazil).
Vic, the owner, was in another corner of the shop behind the counter working on a bike and immediately greeted me when I walked in. I told him I was looking for a bike and asked me if I knew what type. My two options were road or commuter, and he happened to have a used road bike in excellent condition for sale. He let me take it out for a spin, and based on the great reviews I had the confidence of purchasing it right then! He took it for a ride to make sure it rode smoothly, then took it behind the counter to check the gears, among other things. He was polite and even gave me my first tune up for free!
The price was very low for that bike (I looked it up online and saw that it usually sells for 3 times the price he quoted me).
Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and I’ve found THE shop to go to when I need parts or repairs. It is, it seems, more of a shop than a store, though they do sell parts there.
The only reason I’m giving Vic’s BIkes 4 stars is because I’m not all that familiar with the shop and its services. I hope to write another review later on.

I first heard about when I asked a guy on bart about his cool frame and tires. I asked him where he got it and he told me from Vic. I was like who???
Come to find out, he pulls out his phone and checks on Unilocal and I saw who Vic was.
Prior to coming over, I had call him over the phone to make sure I could stop by since my time is very limited due to my schedule. He informed me that he is flexible and we set up a time.
When I came by, he had a few customers there and he def took me into consideration knowing he was dividing his time equally. Once he free up, he made some suggestions on bikes. Now keep in mind, I havent rode since my early childhood but now need it since my son wants to ride as well.
I chose a bike which was good for my height, I didnt have the money up front and Vic was able to work with me.
He demostrates what a true business man is, I truly hope once his business blossomed, he will not change.
