Clayton B.

Business Owner

Clayton is a second generation cleaner with a life time of experience in this industry. His father, Joseph Alymer (Al) Barry owned and operated one of Canada’s largest area rug and upholstery cleaning plants. The company was located in Vancouver, British Columbia.

As a youngster, Clayton would hang out at his Dads shop. By age six, he was cleaning the fringes on area rugs. On Saturdays he would accompany his father on estimates and service visits at customers homes.

This early experience with old fashioned service has served him well. Clayton is quick to say, «The best way to build a thriving cleaning and restoration business is to provide unparalleled service».

After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, in the late 1960s, the Barry family owned and operated a prestigious carpet and upholstery cleaning business, serving upscale homes and a clientele that included: Bing Crosby, Shirley Temple Black and other celebrities. I have worked in Disaster Restoration for a lot of years. I worked with several different companies. I’ve seen many more at job sites.
While Servpro of San Leandro may not be perfect, they strive to be. In my experience, they do the job right. It’s almost always a stressful environment, as water, mold, sewage, and smoke damage tend to get a home or business owner more than a little upset. Servpro of San Leandro has helped me, my family, and a friend at times, and in every case, we have been more than satisfied with their response time, their professionalism, and their work.
I will call them next time!

I’m sorry Clayton, but I don’t know where you’re coming from. «Satisfaction» is not a word myself or insurance will use.
So what about this is a miscommunication? Aside from your foreman routinely replying late to our messages? We needed the units cleared, there’s no grey area in that request. Everything but the frame was burnt to a crisp. Simply remove all debris and waste. Your company was not asked to restore anything. We ourselves took care of permits, hazardous waste (which your company was supposed to do), rebuilding and «personal property».
What you say was «5 distinct services» in the quote ended up being a breakdown with fancy words for; facemask, vacuum cleaners, and fans. It was broken down per room with what «$ 10 face mask» along with a «HEPA cleaner» would be used. If anything it was a poorly written way to trick the insurance for more money.
What makes this funny is that the contractor (Mark Scott Construction) your tech told us about quoted us $ 25K less for the exact same job. How do you reconcile that difference? We asked them exactly what we asked of your company, clean up.
And I need to stress that it was not insurance that made us go to you, it was my supervisor who also realized the mistake too late. Insurance had no «requirement» as you put it. Their ONLY thing is that the property goes back to the way it was, no more no less. Guess how does that start? With a clean up. It was the combined effort of my coworker AND the adjuster that lowered it to $ 12.5k.

Their service is crap, they’ll over charge, at the end, you will be kicking yourself for hiring them because you will be cleaning up their mess. Before you even hire them, they will keep asking you whether or not it’s a insurance job. They will always reply until you give them the job. Very unprofessional. Didn’t start the job the day the said they would without any notification that they will be a week late, contacted the project manager Manny without an response. Told the insurance adjuster the site will be construction ready. I’m guessing just to get their bid approved then as a meditation company, left a bunch of contaminated items behind and gave me some bs that it was not included on the bid. He’s told me that insurance will not cover personal property do he attacked everything in the units. Even the stuff they had demo like bathtubs, wall heaters, doors, sinks, smoke damaged furniture, metal security gates, and many more items. They did refer a good contractor and he gave a rough estimate of the demo work would of been roughly half of what was charged. I can honestly say 1. I will never use them again. 2. I will never in my life refer this company to anyone, in fact I will do the opposite. 3. I have emails and pictures backing everything I said.

We had 2 major floods in our home in late February and Servpro was simply amazing in response time and their professionalism. They had to demolish about 2/​3s of our home due to water damage. Their entire team showed empathy and care in all they did. We are now ending up our re-​construction and they are cleaning the house and putting our personal items back in place. Their customer service was by far the best I have ever experienced

Last week, we had an oven fire that filled my 2 story townhouse with smoke and burned my 2 ovens and my laminated floor. State Farm Insurance sent ServPro from San Leandro to clean the mess. Tomorrow will be the last day that this fabulous crew has been at my house cleaning. I had no idea how much work was involved in cleaning smoke damage. Lizette and her crew were so tremendous that I really can’t put it into words. They cleaned every square inch of my kitchen including every dish, glass, knife, spoon and fork. They washed windows, cleaned my candelabra, washed walls. My house is like new! Carol, their supervisor I assume came to inspect the house and ordered a contractor to pull the oven out and haul it away. My insurance has been A+ through all of this but I want to personally thank the 5 or 6 professionals who came to restore my home and left it in better condition than it was in to begin with!
