dr. rubenstein has the worst office staff very rude and disrespectful was fitted for hearing aids they go bad but had a warranty, they want to charge me to see the women thats fix them said they don’t take my insurance no more medicare she said they drop them because they dont pay if you have a hearing problem dont go to this office and they call their self a Professional Corporation everyone of them from the front desk to the hearing test were just awful this is just mild saying… there the worst

I have been to Dr. Rubi for over 20 Years. He continually diagnoses my upper respiratory ailments correctly. Dr. Rubi has taught me how to manage my allergies. Years ago, Dr. Rubi was referred to my by a nurse as many nurses in the OR where he practiced would go to him as they liked his professionalism and accuracy. He is kind and listens to his patients. I trust Dr. Rubenstein and now travel miles to see him when I have an ENT issue.

If you are in a wheelchair and can’t get out to sit in their exam chair, DO NOT GO HERE. They will not accommodate you. We had to leave without the doctor seeing my dad, after the huge effort it took to get him from his convalescent home to this doctor. I have taken dad there before; once I was able to get him into the exam chair but he fell getting him back into his wheelchair. The next time I paid someone $ 85 an hour to go with us and help get him in the exam chair and back into his wheelchair. I can’t afford this every time. Also, dad’s health has gotten worse and he’s had several falls recently even with close supervision. As a result, I no longer want anyone to take him out of his wheelchair when we are there. Even though both of the other doctors in that office have cleaned out the wax in wheelchair bound patients before (including my dad), the entire office staff refused to treat my dad this time.
So I will need to find another doctor for him.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Rubenstein for close to 10 years now (and mind you I am only 21). I have chronic sinusitis, bronchitis issues and tonsil problems. I will say, especially when I was younger, that his demeanor and the way he words stuff might come off as rude, but he really knows what he is doing. He’s always fixed every problem I’ve had including ones that other doctors were not able to. I just had my tonsils removed a few days ago by Dr. Rubenstein and my whole experience has been wonderful so far. He made me feel so comfortable/​not worried before the surgery and my recovery has been smooth and easy so far. His front desk and the wait time is not always the best but when it comes down to it, Dr. Rubenstein knows what he is doing and is really good at his job. I would definitely recommend him if you want a good ENT doctor, but just prepare yourself for the way he words things sometimes.

2 stars for my overall experience in the office one for the lady who does the hearing test and for one for the doctor.
First off, I call the office and they tell me that they are 4 – 5 weeks out. Its harder to get an appointment here than the DMV! Anyway when I told them that I was in pain and that I had a PPO, the lady who made my appointment was able to get me sooner as long as I printed out the paperwork online and fax it to her. So, I did as told and I was able to get in within the next couple of days. I get there and there were people out the door! I was in shock! So as I was signing in, the lady at the front was telling me I had no appointment and that I missed it, She was RUDE as RUDE can be! I told her to check it again because I had everything filled out and that I was told to be there. She insisted I did not have an appointment and then someone talked to her and then she told me to have a seat. I waited for 30 mints for my appointment then greeted by the doctor. He did his thing, I got a hearing test. The technician who was doing it was so nice. Headphones hurt my ear but I’m glad I could still hear. Anyway, I was told to come back in a couple of weeks just for a check up but I think I’ll pass on it. I am feeling much better. I must warn you of that rude Mexican lady in the front but once you pass her, you’re fine. Good luck to trying to schedule an appointment with them!

This review is for the front office staff. Specifically one woman named «Celia.»
My husband and I have been going to both Dr. Rubenstein and Dr. Wu for a few years now. However, today, my husband had to go by himself because I had to go to work unexpectedly. Mind you he is not a new patent. When he got there, this woman named Celia refused to let him see the doctor because he didn’t have his Medicare card. He also has another insurance, covered with my plan at work, and Medicare. He already had the ppo insurance on file and he just wanted to update them with his Medicare plan. He has a copy of the card with him, but this terrible woman was very disrespectful and rude to him. He asked her directly, «Are you telling me to leave? «And she said if you don’t have your Medicare card, which he did, we can’t see you. HE IS NOT A NEW PATIENT! He has a primary insurance, not just Medicare.
He left. He was livid.
I called back and talked to the office manager, Judy. She was apologetic, and told me to call my husband and tell him to go back and she would take care of it. Of course he was already home and he didn’t want to see that stupid Celia anyway, so he said no.
I called Judy back and told her he was so angry and humiliated that he would not go back at all.
I told her I would be writing a letter to the doctors about what happened. I told her although my husband does like seeing Dr. Wu and Dr. Rubenstein, he will not go back because of how that Celia treated him.
I found another ent in Castro Valley. Also good reviews on Unilocal,so I made an appointment.
To be fair, the doctors are very good. Dr. Rubenstein doesn’t have a warm and fuzzy bedside manner, but he’s good. Dr. Wu is warmer, of course, but no matter who you choose, maybe you won’t get nasty Celia.

Very strange experience overall. Two stars because of the quick diagnosis, x-​ray technician, and one person in front office who was very friendly and efficient.
I called this office to schedule with Dr. Wu (found on my insurance provider list), was told I had an appt with Dr. Wu, confirmed the day before appt that I was seeing Dr. Wu. When I arrived at the office, the waiting room was a madhouse with people looking very unhappy and spilling out in to the hallway area. When I signed in at 10:45, EVERY person there — about 11 — had also signed in on the sheet indicating they, too, were seeing Dr. Wu! Red flag! Weird! All 12 of us were scheduled to see Dr. Wu, before 10:45am?! Anywho, provided insurance etc to front desk and even she CONFIRMED I WAS THERE TO SEE DR. WU. Get the picture?
After an incredibly short wait, considering the crowds, I was called and put in an exam room. Two minutes later, Dr. Rubenstein blasts into the room. He started reading my file rather aggressively, but I was persistent in bringing this up: «Uh​.My appointment is with Dr. Wu». Oooohhhhhh boy, clearly this was a familiar scene, and he was ready to handle it with the delicacy and manners of a freight train, basically hustling to strong arm me, not without condescension and awkwardly rude manipulation, into seeing HIM, as if my statement was the most outrageous thing he had ever heard. At one point he stood up and put his hand on the doorknob, «threatening» to leave. So I thought «Oh Jesus Christ, FINE!» since I have good insurance and didn’t want to wait.
In the end, amazingly, I did get a good diagnosis from Dr. Rubenstein (skipped the follow-​up appt), but clearly the whole Dr. Wu thing is weird, like some kind of doctor front. Very unprofessional of the whole office and Dr. Wu to let patients think they are seeing him, them routed to Dr. R. Plus, Dr. R. does have terrible bedside manner. Although during the exam he was technically polite, it really seemed like he was straining at it.

I read the previous reviews and yes, he’s definitely now the sweetest guy in town, but I guess that should only matter if you’re looking to date the guy right? I actually like his straight-​forwardness. But if you think he’s rude, wait until you meet the lady at the front. ha! I couldn’t believe how rude she was to the poor lady who was 20 minutes late for her appointment. All that being said, he’s great at what he does. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Rubenstein to my friends and family… I’d just warn them about the lady in the front! :)

I went to him 2 years ago. My wife went this week. Yes, he can be brusque. But he is a diagnostician of rare skill. If you have an ear nose or throat problem, and you want to get better, this is THE GUY.

I have been a patient of Dr Rubenstein since 1983. He is, without doubt, one of the finest doctors I have had in my life. I have always had good results with him. I would put my life in his hands. In 1991 I had sinus surgery, and I would let him do it again today in 2014. He is currently treating me for a severe case of sinusitis. He has rescued me many times over the years from throat and sinus issues. I’m glad we live in a world with doctors, and I’m glad he is one of those doctors.

HORRIBLE! This guy doesn’t deserve 1 Star* but you have to give him that just to get your review listed! Rude and doesn’t want listen to my very old grandmother (over 100 years old) or myself! If referred to this doctor ask for his partner Dr. Wu! I really don’t understand how someone with this poor history stays in business! Avoid Like the Plague!!!

I just had my first consultation with Dr Rubenstein, and I found the office staff very pleasant and Dr Rubenstein was very helpful with my on going sinus issues. I would recommend his office without a doubt!

I don’t want to go into too much detail about my health on the internet but I can tell you today I was very disappointed in Rubenstein’s bed side manner and I think he needs to retire. It appears he is burnt out with his patients. He didn’t look down my throat properly in fact it was the wrong side. I can’t go back to him and I will definitely get a second opinion. I hate posting this on the internet about him but he just does not listen and tries to get you out of there asap. The practice of this office is to give you to someone else when you make an appointment. I guess Wu would have been a better choice. I will go elsewhere for my second opinion.

I was in extreme ear pain and after going to my primary care physician and having no luck… he decided to refer me to Dr. Reubenstein’s office. I called and the receptionist said «Hello» (that’s it) I asked if I had the correct number and she said «Yes»…(crickets) I then proceeded to fill her in on my situation and asked for an appointment the next morning. She said «No, we don’t have any Dr.‘s tomorrow and for new patients we don’t have openings for 2 weeks.» I said thank you and hung up. As far as I am concerned they will never have me as a new patient. How rude! First impressions can kill a private practitioner and his staff is doing just that!!!

On my 1^st visit I waited a total of 1 hour and 50 minutes to be by Dr. Rubenstein for about 10 mins. Today, I had an appointment at 4:15 pm and was told that there are 4 patients ahead of me. This doctor’s office tends to overbook patients and have them wait for a very long wait in a small waiting area. The wait area overflowed outside the office. I was furious and voiced my opinion to the receptionist and let everyone waiting that this office tends to overbook appointments. I informed the receptionist and office manager that I will be calling Healthnet and Affinity Med. Group to complain. I called my primary doctor to change to another ear, nose and throat specialist. Also, I will be calling Infinity Medical Group to complaint and I will definitely fill out a «Patient Survey» questionaire about this doctor’s office. Also, their office staff is not very friendly and treats you like you without respect and a nobody…

I was referred to Dr. Wu in this office, but was passed off, without any consent of mine, to Dr. Rubenstein instead.
Although Dr. Rubenstein performed his task effectively, he was rude to me, curt in his behavior, ignored me when I displayed pain, and mocked me by laughing at my questions. I even witnessed him being a jerk to members his staff. I can’t think of a worse experience I’ve had with a doctor in recent years.
I wish I had gotten the doctor I was actually referred to!
