Ohlone Archery

That boutique Archery Range /​Shop is all I need in every way. It is the opposite of my office. It clean, quiet, well lit and there is no clutter. There are rules and procedures but that’s good.
I just picked this sport/​hobby and it helps me empty my mind and I can mentally rest. I am a different person when I go to Ohlone Archery even on a bad day.
I strongly recommended this archery range. I strongly believe it is a reflection of its owner Nico. I feel that he is calm, organized, friendly, passionate and serious.
Nico seems to have high standard. His equipment is in excellent condition and fairly new. He replaces targets frequently. The bows face the same direction and are arranged by draw weight and the arrows are sorted by sizes and weight.
Likewise, Nico sells some equipment and his selection is appropriate to many levels. There is free water in the first locker and I like that.
My son and I love archery and Ohlone Archery has a lot to do with it.
When I feel that the world is collapsing around me, I know I can count on Ohlone Archery.

I came here with a group of friends yesterday and loved every moment of my first archery lesson.
Nico was personable, patient, knowledgeable, thorough, and a great trainer. I’ve always wanted to try archery and came to Ohlone through a Groupon deal. It was $ 22 for a couple which was totally worth it for a hours session, equipment included. I think it’s $ 12 for a person through Groupon.
We arrived 10 minutes early to complete our waivers and payment. After our group of 6 arrived we began with 10 – 15 minute safety and basic training. Nico picked out our bows and we practiced holding them properly and adjusted to the weight. When we started shooting he corrected our posture and provided helpful tips throughout the session. Midway we were shooting on our own like pros. The entire experience was seamless.
I’ll definitely be back to work on my aim. It was a lot of fun! If you can get 6 people in a class (total lanes available) it feels like a private lesson. We got some pretty awesome group photos in too :) Thanks for everything, Nico!
Tips:
— huge parking lot in front
— wear comfortable shoes
— book your class in advance, especially if you go with a group (max 6)
— when you shoot: elbows up, take a few seconds to set up your shot and don’t overthink it.

Had an awesome first experience at Ohlone Archery. After purchasing the groupon deal, I easily booked the class on their website. Nico was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable and was a great instructor. He got us up and running and in no time I felt very comfortable and confident shooting archery.
If you are interested in trying archery, I would highly recommend starting at Ohlone. I feel like I’ve found a new hobby and I will definitely be returning.

Nico immediately puts everything at ease with his patient and humorous approach. He is clear in his instruction and treats everyone with respect. There are lockers and locks for personal belongings and the studio is clean and organized. Plus it was a fun date activity.

This place is chill. Made a reservation online, printed out a waiver and came to practice shooting session. I haven’t shot in a year, so it was good to get a reminder on safety and some tips on improving my form. I rented equipment for $ 15 for an hour of shooting. There is also a punch pass system which saves you a lot if you like to shoot a lot. There are free lockers & water in the back, plenty of parking space and friendly archery advice from Nico! He even helped me make a finger sling on the fly. Big plus — the most convenient location for archery if you live in the east bay!

I just started back with Archery after a 25 year hiatus. A walked in to a beginner lesson, and really appreciated the care and attention that Nico gave not only to the safety protocols, but the time that he spent with everyone. He gave me some very helpful feedback on my form, and I am striving to get better every time I shoot.
Nico is super friendly, and always around to answer questions, and he is a wealth of knowledge. The place is small, but I like it because of the close interaction you can get.
I just wish it were open more!!!
If anyone is thinking about checking it out, or you are a bit intimidated, don’t be. The environment is super friendly.

After getting a Groupon offer earlier this year, we have been coming here as often as we can.
Nico is patient, kind and super sweet in working with getting you comfortable with shooting.
My daughter is hyper-​mobile (double jointed) and he’s always trying to help her find a way for her not to smack her arm… but she’s stubborn and doesn’t quite absorb as much as I would like, but we still have a great time.

Did lessons today with my sister at Ohlone Archery. Niko was very keen on safety and proper technique. He was very detailed and very informative. He also had a very fun and positive personality. Made shooting a bow for the first time amazing! Will definitely be back!

This place is awesome. So far, I’ve done the introductory class and come back for experienced archer practice once. The only reason I’m not going back sooner than I am is because the spots are full. :) Nico is such a great instructor. He really takes the time to make sure you’re doing everything right, which is great for someone like me who is brand new and wants to get better and better. My only request is for more days/​times available for shooting, especially weekend times. :D

This place is so much fun! My husband and I just went shooting here for the first time tonight and we both enjoyed it a lot. The class size is small so you get lots of feedback, and Nico (the instructor) had a great friendly presence and took the time to explain all the safety protocols thoroughly. I was also really impressed with how clean, neat and organized the building was. There were lockers for your belongings, free bottled water, and a spotless bathroom. The rates are so reasonable we will definitely be back. $ 15/​hour to shoot using their provided equipment or $ 10/​hour if you bring your own. This would make a great date night, or rent out all lanes for a really fun party with friends.

This was my first experience with archery and it was a blast. Safety protocol and practices were clearly explained. Nico is an easy going instructor that didn’t mind repeating things to get everyone on the same page. The facility was clean and easy to find. Each student was matched to a bow, observed then adjustments were made to bows/​arrows to make the experience smooth and productive.
Can’t wait to go back for experienced archer practice!

Ohlone Archery is THE place to go to. Nico is amazing. He makes everyone feel welcome. He is totally invested in your experience.
Group shoots are always fun. It’s an intimate environment with awesome people to shoot with. You can always pick up new pointers and/​or hone your skills.
Lessons are phenomenal. My son and I had a private lesson with Nico. We both learned so much in that hour. We covered a lot, from foundational elements to individual issues.
He has made us custom arrows, built to our individual needs. The prices are beyond reasonable. He carries quality products, and is always happy to share his knowledge with you.
I have had lessons and shopped at two other Bay Area archery shops. I can tell you that Ohlone offers the best service, lessons, and customer service of the three. By far!

We’ve gone to a number of ranges in the bay area, this was out favorite.
It is super hard to find, first warehouse section literally across the street from the sports field.
I really liked the relaxed, none sales driven atmosphere. The instructor and staff were super cool and welcoming. I never felt like they were just trying to sell something else. The personal attention is key — the prices round out the deal.

Purchased a groupon 1 hr archery class & it was sooo fun & worth it. Place is pretty small, lanes have room for 6 shooters @ a time. It was a blast. & nico, the owner, was a great teacher & it was fun that he was cheering us on. Will definitely go back for more shooting! Probably a new hobby in the making (=

This was very fun! Our instructor was very knowledgeable and very friendly too! He gave us some safety training at the beginning of the class, then we got to practice for the rest of the class. He was also really good at giving us tips on how to improve our aim and posture.
After the class, there was a couple who stayed behind to learn more about archery, and the instructor was very passionate expanding this couple’s knowledge. The four of us also stayed behind to have him take pictures for us (heehee) and we also asked a bunch of questions, and you could tell the instructor was just there to help us learn more about archery! Very cool.
And after this initial lesson, we’re free to come in on Tuesday/​Wednesdays every week for only $ 15/​hour to practice! Would love to come back. Great experience!

This place only allows about 6 people to shoot at a time, but the facility is clean and friendly. We did a private lesson for $ 25 each and the owner Nico who was also the teacher was very friendly and helpful. He was very friendly, and informative on safety and technique. For this being the first time learning, the experience was great, fun and I would sure go back to this place again.
Finding the place is a little tricky since it shares its parking lot with other industrial buildings and businesses and it was near the back of the lot. But it’s basically right across the street from the marina outlets.
Overall good place to learn archery. Also one of our friends said they learned more at this place then they did at the archery place in Newark. So if you’re torn between which place to go to, I recommend this place.

I bought a coupon through Zozi to try this place out. I’m so glad I got the chance go. I brought a friend with me and even though he was really late, the instructor was accommodating and allowed him to shoot a bit more after everyone was finished just to make up for the time he lost arriving late. If you are like me and is hesitant with trying something completely new that is not food related and don’t know if it’s completely worth the full price to try the activity (unless your friends completely hyped it up), get a coupon and then go. There was another beginner pair that got their coupon from Groupon or Living Social.
It was very easy to register online via their website. They have a lot of availability after work and seems like it would be pretty to go after work and just shoot some arrows. When your registration is confirmed, you are instructed to read the safety instructions online.
When I drove to the address, I thought I got it wrong because it was just a parking lot in front of a paint store? I was really confused, but I was also a bit early. Then I noticed there is a small standing sign that is in front of the garage of the archery. I was like, OH! It’s happening in a garage! hmmm… sort of shady! Because my shady-​senses were on high alert, I waited in the car for my friend to come. Then he said he was running late. I pulled up my courage and just went and then saw other people standing there with their wrist protectors on. It was such a relief to see that because my shady-​senses could some times be correct.
The lesson was very easy and fun. I did a group lesson and there was 6 of us in the end. It was a bit tight, but still a lot of fun. You get to have a little competition with each other to see who shoots closest to the center target. Then there are people like me who is a walking clutz, dropping arrows, and shooting into other people’s targets… feel free to judge me. The instructor repeats the safety instructions for those who didn’t read it online. I did, but still that’s a lot of reading material to remember after a long day of work. The instructor ends up giving you tips on how you personally can shoot better. He will analyze your breathing, your stance, how you’re holding the bow and arrow, etc. It was a pretty in depth instruction for a small group lesson in my eyes. Which made this place damn amazing.
I will definitely be coming back again with friends and you know, to ultimately be just like Katniss. Who doesn’t want to be a badass who can shoot arrows?

Nico is amazing! He gave a private lesson to a group of friends of mine, he was informative, patient, and super helpful. One of our group was a little fearful, but he made her feel comfortable, and by the time our hour was up, she was shooting with ease. I could not recommend this range more!

I was able to book a private party of 6 (mostly family) on short notice through email. Nico quickly responded and was very helpful answering my questions since this was the 1^st time we were trying archery.
Private Lesson:
Nico went over safety, stance, shooting and aiming. He was very detailed and thorough. Watched everyone in the group and gave pointers as we were shooting. I went from missing the target to being able land 3 – 4 out of 5 in the middle of the target from 30 ft.
Overall:
Great experience for everyone in the group. They all loved it and had a fun time. I’ll be back with my wife for sure.
