Didn’t have green tea or cookie dough. Very outdated, filthy, and cluttered. Ice cream freezers are falling apart and needed to be held up with velcro straps that had dried ice cream on it and the back freezer was being held up by a stack of plastic cups. This place needs a thorough cleaning and the health department called in. We still bought ice cream since we drove here instead of the one in Castro Valley which is closer to us… and a little bit cleaner. On the plus side, staff was nice.

Came here for the 1st time today. No one was in there which should have been my first clue :/I looked at their menu but to my surprise they didn’t have a lot of what was on there. Basically we had choices of the ice cream that was in the freezer that I could barely see, since everything was stacked on top of each other. The ice cream was good, definitely wasn’t what I was craving but it did he job. I am sure if they got their machines working and updated everything a little bit they would see a lot more business.

I don’t write horrible reviews but here’s one, I have to say first is AREYOUKIDDINGME?! And is loads a franchise?! Apparently they’re all different. I come in guy is on his phone doesn’t even pay attention to my entrance coming in, apologizes he didn’t hear me. Okay fine will do. mind you I ALWAYS go to Marina Loards and their scoops are outstandingly big, I had to come here unfortunately because Marina was closed. As I ask for a one scoop it’s like a scoop from a kid menu(if there was such a thing)!! Anyways, then I ask for a double scoop, as he was doing that I told him that Marina ice cream scoops are much bigger and why is this so different he goes and starts saying he’s been working there for 7 years and never heard that, well I’ve been going to Loards for 16 years since it’s literally down the street from my house so I would know the value of a major scoop I’m getting. Then I was discouraged already to get my own ice cream so I said that was all. So as I was going to pay he keeps rambling about how«this is a standard scoop, etc etc» then he goes on to saying«I heard the Castro valley Loards people get ripped off, I guess the owner is cheap»(yeah seems the same here) as I’m paying he states«people have to make their money» now that was uncalled for and Just as that happens, Keep in mind I did spot a «.50 charge for transactions under 5» so as I’m going to pay for my ice cream and wait for it. Nope he didn’t tell me that there will be a .50 charge on my card. Isn’t that considerate. This place is a major rip off! Don’t come here if you want a baby scoop compared to Marina Loards! I only gave this place an extra star because it was open late and I love Loards but please Marina needs to extend their hours and anyone who wants ice cream late don’t come here, I dislike negative comments to businesses but this one was needed!

Never. Again. Inside the parlour is outdated and gives off quite a dirty feel. They were out of 80% of the flavors I wanted to try. The ice creams were mixed throughout the freezer and so the labels didn’t match up, adding to the confusion. Ice cream was extremely mediocre. Service is slow and not friendly. Better off going to Baskin’ Robbins or a liquor store. Loard’s isn’t worth the pit stop.

Wanted to leave a short review, but Unilocal alerted mr that it’s on the short side. Well, noe I have to ramble on about how I love the ice cream here and how my daughter loves it too. And that the setvice was great. I think this review is long enough. That’s it. Thanks.

The ice cream here is suspiciously similar to Clancys ice cream just a mile away. If i buy a big bucket from both, take them home and do a blind taste test i cant tell the difference. The flavors that I saw seem to be the same too. When I eat these in the spot in which i buy Clancys seems to taste better… but its just from the nestolgia of said small family owned business. Back to Loards, big open bright space… a younger crowd on a warm day. Often i see the place with few people inside. There is a bigger location nearby near the San Leandro marina auto row.

This review is for the service. Came here last night and the old guy running the spot that evening was really rude. Should of turned off the open sign if you were closed. I would’ve left and just came back the next day. You didn’t have to throw my card at me because you were rushing. I must have said thank you like 4 or 5 times with no response. He just seemed to really hate his life. It was sad. Will be coming back if he’s not working that day or night.

Got here at around 10:35 pm on a Saturday, chose this location because they close at 11:00. Guy in the counter greets us with«I’m closing early and will only serve something that’s quick.» We were grateful at first but then this guy started rushing us more and giving us attitude like he didn’t want us to be there. Way to ruin the mood dude. See, we love the ice cream here but this guy should have honored their business hours.

Great ice place. I go in and pick up the Mint and Chip. Great flavor with chocolate shavings in it to give it a great consistency. I also love that the first ever Loards Ice Cream was in San Leandro and that the ice cream is still made here as well!

Great music. First time here son and wife loved it. It’s February so ice cream is not the norm but they still had all the flavors! I love retro games and glad to see Galaga. It also has to of candy and soda reminds me of a simpler time. Great ambiance and friendly people.

What can I say that hasn’t been said by others. 1. The place was a dump. 2. There was a ping pong table smack dab in the middle of the joint and we were pounded by ping pong balls. 3. Ice cream was good but portions were smaller then other Loards and also more expensive. Should have went to the one off from Marina or Castro Valley.

Been going here for a long time and still the same old ice cream parlor, they don’t have much selections on the quarts and pints ice cream containers. There a little bit more pricy than the other loards ice cream at the marina area by Honda.

I love Lords Ice Cream but this location makes you want to say«Ewww». I came here a couple weeks ago with my family. We usually go to the Castro Valley location but we were in the area. The girl who was working(late teen/early twentys) was very helpful and friendly. I got Mango which is my fav. I was told half the freezer area wasn’t working but she had more selections in a bigger freezer right behind the counter. When she closed it the top of the lid was broken and there was something hanging off. My ice cream was a little melted but not dripping she apologized about it. The whole atmosphere of this location makes me feel like I’m in a hoarders garage. Not very organized and a bunch of stuff just pushed to the side. Love their ice cream but maybe they should clean up and remodel this place.

We had an entertainment coupon, buy one get one free so we each got two scoops in a cup, love the ube and lemon chiffon flavors! They make their own ice cream

Half the flavors out of stock. Location doesn’t seem overly clean… but, they do have late hours… Which is appreciated. Owner/manager customer service seems spotty. Sometimes focuses on customer… Sometimes doesn’t. Would have given two stars, but the ice cream is good.

I’ve come here a lot and dig this place, it has a lot of nostalgic candy and goodies you can buy along with your ice cream. Pretty big spot equipped with table tennis and old school video games in the back. They have all your standard flavors along with some unique ones to try. You can always sample a flavor if your not familiar and their specialty sundaes are great. They have a few downfalls that I have noticed over the years and it’s now becoming a little run down. Employees come and go and today was no different, had a new girl working and she made my sundae a little different then I’m used too, utilizing whole almonds as opposed to the almond bits I’ve had in the past. The ice cream was a bit melted and they had signs all over stating there were no quarts left of the signature flavors I’m used too. All the freezers were out of service and a sign in the back said wet floor/no quarts. Hopefully they can get back to how it was in the past when they first opened up. Still enjoy the great ice cream here and the owner does have a second spot in Alameda that’s great. Overlook the bad and enjoy the ice cream.

This Loard’s location is really run down. It looks like someone’s garage. They’ve stuck a ping pong table in the middle and then clipped open the shades with laundry clips to let the light in. White Christmas lights still up and it’s June. Video games in the back along with abandoned ice cream equipment and … a tennis racket stringing machine. Doesn’t look like any appreciable amount of candy is being sold here like at other Loard’s locations. However, easy shopping center parking, friendly service, and darned good ice cream.

My friend and I walked into the dark dirty shop at 10:30pm on a Saturday. The owner was closing up early but decided to make an easy $ 6 since we were there already. Unfortunately we were extremely rushed, he didn’t give me my sugar cone, our ice cream was melted, and ultimately the taste was disappointing. We tried the halo halo and blueberry cheesecake. I didn’t taste anything other than heavy milk, cream, and sugar. You’re better off spending $ 6 next door at Safeway for a whole tub of ice cream.
