This is a great hole in the wall of the Manor area in San Leandro. I stumbled upon this place with a friend a while back. We both got one of their lunch specials. I believe it came with rice, chow mein and an entrée dish of chicken(with cashews?). Everything about the meal tasted good, from first bite to last. It wasn’t particularly crowded, which was nice. We came at an odd time to eat a late lunch, which is probably why there weren’t too many people. If people give this place a shot, I’m sure they won’t find anything like it in the Manor area for legit Chinese food and not breaking the bank. Affordable food. Good food. What more can you ask for? I’m looking forward to trying some of their dinner meals one of these days. I can also imagine that this place would be a sweet spot to get good take-out in this city. San Leandro isn’t really known for Chinese food like Oakland Chinatown is. But this is a close second.

We sat there for 15 minutes waiting for the waitress to come by and take our order. She never did and we left in disgust. Would give them 0 stars if I could.

Basic chinese buffet. Not the best… but for the price it’s a good deal.

Don’t waste your money!!! Just don’t! I should have known better when I went there during the dinner hour and there was just one little old man. Rule number one don’t trust a place that people are not interested in eating at for dinner. The food was just down right disgusting. I think there was mold on the chow mein noodles… I tried to convince myself that it wasn’t the truth but my daughter noticed the same thing. Everybody in my house had a stomach ache by the end of the night. Eat at your own risk… it would have to be the last thing on earth to eat before I go there again.

FOOD: They have a wide variety of Chinese food and all of them are good. We especially like the chicken(yeah, it takes a bit long but it’s totally worth it). The fried noodles are good too! The walnut shrimps are heaven! CUSTOMERSERVICE: One of the best restaurants out there when it comes to customer service. The servers, although they are not that good in speaking English, are very entertaining and are smiling most of the time. They make sure that we’re always having a great time.

The food is very affordable and looks great. When i got my meal i was like wow. Then i tried the sweet and sour pork it was crunchy, but felt like it was refried a few times. The pork fried rice was oily and the Mongolian beef was kinda bland. I wasnt impressed at all. Sorry i will not be back.

I was Chilling out at my Flat Lands Residence watching the Game Of Thrones. I noticed it was lunch time and I was famished. So I jumped into my Whip and rolled to Great Wall. I parked in their Parking Lot and rolled in . I was greeted and seated at my regular table. I’m actually a regular there so they know me by name. I ordered the number #1 Lunch Special– Sweet and Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice and Chow Mein. It also comes with a Bowl of House Soup. I also ordered a pot of Jasmine Tea . I was brought a Piping Hot Pot Of Tea first. Very relaxing Out next was a Bowl of House Soup — Tofu, Chicken and Egg Drop. Very Tasty and Hearty. Then I was brought my Main Entrée my lunch special. The Sweet and Sour Pork was very flavorful and went well with the Pork Fried Rice and the Chow Mein. It was a very Yummy and filling meal. They serve you the Bill old school with an Orange Slice and a Fortune Cookie . I paid by Credit Card then rolled out . I went home and Continued My Game Of Thrones Marathon. When Dinner Time came I returned to the Great Wall. Since my Lunch was so good. I decided to have Dinner there too . I ordered Honey Walnut Prawns and a Dinner Special — Sweet and Sour Pork, Broccoli Beef, BBQ Pork Fried Rice and Fried Prawns. The Dinner Special also comes with a Bowl Of House Soup[– Tofu, Chicken and Egg Drop. The Soup was good as before. The Honey Walnut Prawns was Heavenly. The Dinner Special was Great very Tasty and Filling — The Broccoli was especially tasty . I was brought a Bowl of Chinese Black Jell-O for Dessert. It was a Sweet Treat . Then they brought me my Bill Old School Style with and Orange Slice and a Fortune Cookie. Great Wall has Great Old School Chinese Chefs and they are very good at what they do. They have all the Old School Standard Dishes and their prices are very fair. Service is Very Good. They are Leading the Food Renaissance in the Washington Manor Area !!! Great Wall Is a Baller On A Budget Approved Establishment !!!

Seriously, amazing Chinese food. I got the black bean chicken, string bean shrimp and fried rice. It all tasted fresh and great! The string beans were better than I make at home. The food was bursting with flavor. The staff was so friendly to us, I have zero complaints!!! The cost was very reasonable, and the portions were fantastic! I’ll be back!

There is nothing great or even really good about this place. I ordered the prawns in lobster sauce and fried rice. The lobster sauce had no lobster flavor, pieces of lobster and looked like runny eggs. I was NASTY. Also, the fried rice had no flavor at all, it was bland. If you a hungry, go somewhere else, they don’t take pride in making the food just charging for it. EWWW

I came to this restaurant for the first time a few weeks back and was very satisfied with my food and the customer service. This is my second time here and I must say that I am disappointed. While the food is good, the customer service wasn’t so great. I waited for quite some time to be seated and was ignored by staff. This would be understandable if the restaurant was busy, but there was only a handful of customers dining when I arrived. After being seated my waiter began serving and assisting others. I sat at my table for some time waiting to be handed a menu, but later decided that I would be better off grabbing one myself. I also had to wave down my waiter to let her know that I was ready to order which I really did not like. Unilocalers may read this and think«OMG, this girl is such a whiner» lol. While that might be true, I expect to be treated properly when at a restaurant, especially if I am spending my hard earned money. So, I’m giving this restaurant 3⁄5 stars. Again, good food, but customer service needs improvement.

Never coming back here! Came here on a Wed. Night to pick up takeout for wonton soup, sesame chicken, and chicken chow mien. The soup was bland and how hard is it to get a broth right? The sesame chicken as you could see in my picture is all breading, some pieces didn’t even have chicken inside yuck! The chicken chow mien consisted of overcooked tiny pieces of rubbery chicken that I couldn’t even chew because of the consistency and the noodles were mush with no flavor. I felt so sick after eating it and felt queasy all night long. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Please don’t waste your time or money.

No msg = welcome healthier people. If you want jam packed with additives, you might want to open a can of spam. I’ve been here twice and was never disappointed. I see friendly service and fresh raw materials. Coming from a food chain analitical background, I can tell the owner us quality ingredients.

No msg, no headache! Great food, recommend salt n pepper tofu. Shrimp won ton soup. Diet Coke. Salt n pepper pork. Dried cook string beans. Honey walnut prawns. Mandarin pork. Steam rice. When Chinese people eat at a Chinese restaurant, you know it’s good! When Indian people eat at a Thai restaurant, you know it’s spicy!

Great Wall has been my family’s go-to for(lightweight) late night Chinese food cravings. Over the years, we’ve become pretty loyal to this place and for good reason! First, the food is really good! It comes out relatively quick and the portions are so big, we always have left overs. Be careful not to get too excited and order too much! We love getting the honey walnut prawns, shrimp fried rice, crispy fried chicken, Hong Kong style beef chow mein, and won ton soup. All that is really enough to feed our family of 5 and take some home. And eating here won’t put a damper on your wallet either. Good food at an affordable price. This place has been around for so long and so many of our friends and family love it that we almost always run into someone we know. The people are very nice and the service is great! The area is a little sketchy and the restaurant itself might not be the fanciest but if that bothers you, you can still order for pick up. It works either way!

This place use to be really good. They’ve change owners probably about a year ago and it is just not the same. Maybe because it’s not filled with MSG in each dish, but now its just bleh. The portion size has definitely gotten smaller, and the quality of the meats doesn’t taste as good. I have been coming here for over 20 years and I loved the old owner. He was a family friend and he always gave us extra fried wontons. Now, they don’t even do that any more. Everything taste different and lacks a lot of flavor. They need to do something with their portions, the old owner was very generous and we always had left overs to take home.

Checked out Great Wall restaurant the other night and was pleasantly surprised. The plaza it is located in is old school and walking into the resto with bright florescent lighting and TV tuned to the news, didn’t create a good first impression but then, the food came out! We started with the Fried Meat Wontons which were delish! It came out hot, super crispy, and although it’s fried, it wasn’t greasy(i.e. wasn’t fried with old oil). There were a dozen pieces and we finished them off in about a couple minutes, they were that good! The Mongolian Beef was really good and the portions of meat was quite generous. The Salt and Pepper Chicken wasn’t quite what we expected, they were chunks of breaded chicken, that were fried, seasoned, and came with sliced jalapenos. The first few bites were tasty but then it got tired. Might’ve tasted better if it came with some sauce. Pork Fried Rice was pretty good, and the serving was abundant. Too bad they don’t serve BBQ Pork Fried Rice though. Service was friendly. There was just one lady serving the seven occupied tables but she made it work, all with a smile. Another lady eventually came in. Overall, GWR seems like a solid go-to spot! Their menu prices are way decent, cheap if anything, and the quality/taste of their food is right on. #FriedMeatWonTonsForDays

Not a fan. I checked the place out after seeing the reviews here, but the food is very bland and did not taste good. I tossed out most of what I ordered. Portion sizes are pretty small for dinner menu. I ordered non-seafood dishes and they tasted fishy, which is odd. Some dishes I ordered did not taste right at all in terms of flavor. The chicken meat used is on the fatter side, which was not pleasant to taste. To be fair, the place was decently clean and prices are average.
