Christi Cheng, MD

I’m not the one to write a bad review but I think it is worth saying. I visited her a couple months ago due to agonizing pain after eating. I don’t have a main doctor but she was near me and I thought I’d give it a try for the first time in a long time. Maybe get a few tests run or something.
Upon entering the room she was cold and rude. In a monotone voice, «What are you in for…» Not even a hi. And when I began to explain what my symptoms were and stuff I had already done (taken a log of foods I ate prior to the stomach pain, eliminating food I thought could be it or medicine or whatever, my due diligence pretty much) she simply cut me off and just said, «Ok.» Didn’t ask me anything. I mean I’m sure you can’t simply diagnose the cause by me simply telling you «I have stomach pain.» She didn’t ask anything really, just where it hurt and that’s it. She ended up giving me a paper and call a gastrology office on the list. And left the room without even a bye. Just gave me the list and turned around and left, like well then. I was pretty glad because I knew she was a complete butthole and I’d never come back. Worst Doctor experience ever. Why become a doctor if you don’t have any passion to help people? That’s a pretty bad attitude to have.

I went to her before she moved offices. She was fine and decent bedside manner – but she did complain about her colleagues to me… Quite unprofessional. Well too many antibiotic prescriptions for issues she wouldn’t test for – like whooping cough because she couldn’t find the test – she didn’t think it was a big deal – but I insisted and she found the test (disorganized office). It wasn’t whooping cough but she kept tossing antibiotics at me to see which one stuck before I said let’s test because the antibiotics weren’t working. Quick to prescribe medicine (plus or minus? You decide) She’ll do refills readily and easily. Her new office has nice front office staff but wow, her bed side manner is atrocious now. She won’t look you in the eye (it’s not a cultural thing). I took my mom in to see her and she understands English ok but she was rapidly firing questions at her without waiting for an answer and moving on. Well not everyone understands the lingo and slow down. Not once did she ask if we were ok it was; Pain (location): Scale of 1 to 10. Pain (another location): scale 1 to 10. And NEVER looked us in the eye. After the rapid firing of questions she then asked me a few personal questions, like how are you… and I said nice offices. and she commented… yeah I told you how bad it was at that other place. Really? Dude you’re my dr, I ‘m not your therapist. The waiting thing is ridiculous for any dr. I have a job too, I can’t be late, neither should you, then do a better job of scheduling me. 15 mins is fine but seriously an hour?

Dr. Cheng does not care about her patients. I have a unique problem and I’ve asked the doctor if she researched my problem when I’m not there, she said no. I said, did you ask any other doctors for info on my problem, and she said no. I even told her, I need a doctor who cares, not someone who was poor their whole life and is only concerned with making money. I don’t trust her judgement anymore and looking for a new doctor now.

Rude, hard to talk to, terrible at communication, doesn’t seem to care about her patients. The staff seemed apathetic as well and don’t greet you when you first get to the office. I was a new patient but will be switching doctors immediately.

Dr. Cheng was recommended to me by my colleague. I went in for a physical and I showed her a prescription of what I was currently taking. I went to Walgreens to pick it up and found out she wrote me the wrong prescription! I called her office and left a message. They called back 2 days later and said it’s been fixed. NOPE! Went to Walgreens again only to discover the prescription had the wrong dosage. Called the dr. again and left a msg. They then told me they talked to Walgreens and that I have some refills left from my «old doctor.» I got a new job but had the same insurance. So they didn’t bother to write me a prescription at all…
And the staff needs to communicate with each other! Because days later after this mess, someone else calls me and asks me to verify the dosage… So unprofessional. After they told me to use my «old refills.»

I had Dr Cheng as my primary doctor for close to ten years. I finally went with someone else last year. She was very disappointing and got worse year after year. It always took a long wait to see her… at least 30– 40 mins. There were once I waited 40 min before being called and another 20 min wait again in her office. And usually once she gets in, she quickly ask what’s the problem and get you out in less then 5 min. In this 5 min, she kept on typing something on her Apple laptop and talking to you without even looking at you. Her bedside manner as a primary doctor was terrible. For the 10 years I was with her, I visited her less then 10 times. She just didn’t seem really care and seemed like everyone to her was a trouble. I seriously don’t recommend her.

Dr Cheng is great. She trusts her patients to know their medical history and body better than she does and takes their wishes and requests seriously.
The only reason she doesn’t have 5 stars is that you can’t come to Dr Cheng expecting to be seen any less than an hour later than your appointment time. Up to 2 hours later.
Don’t expect to come in for a 9:00 appointment and then get to work by 10. You need at least half of a day.
Last time I came in, I was fasting and had a 10:30 appointment. I wasn’t seen until 12 and then had to wait 3 hours at Quest. By the time I finally got food, my blood sugar was SUPER low. I ate my body weight in Panda Express and slept the rest of the day.

I never leave reviews, but Dr Cheng is absolutely the worst Doctor that I have ever been to! She is extremely rude, and has the worst bedside manner that I’ve ever experienced! If I could leave negative stars, I would. The office staff was exceptional, but I wish that I could say the same for Dr Cheng! Stay far away from this place.

I’ve been going to Dr Christi Cheng for many years. And frankly I have to wonder if it’s the same Dr. I’ve read the reviews on. I found her friendly, up front and a great communicator. She is extremely busy but never rushes me through a visit.
I did notice that she was the only female doctor in that family practice. Once while I was there a pharmaceutical rep. in a very tight skirt and low cut top came to solicit business from her and the male doctors. I don’t think she appreciated the sales technique and seemed a bit pissed that this person was so pushy. She turned her away and took care of her patients.
I really like the fact that if she doesn’t know the answer she doesn’t bull shit you. She does her homework to get you your answer. She has been supportive of my going outside regular medicine to get the help I need for my Thyroid issues because she knows that you need to use natural medicines along with prescriptions. She’s open to learning from her clients instead of assuming she knows everything.
So if you not getting the service from her you expect then do something. Make a list of questions, ask them. If you don’t understand ask again. Don’t give up its your co pay and your health.

Everyone — stay away from this place! Dr. Cheng wastes your time without even giving you a reason as to why she’s 1.5 hours LATE to your appointment.
My mom called to make an appointment the morning of, which the receptionist scheduled for the afternoon. We got there for our appointment and was told to wait in one of the rooms. My mom waited patiently for 45 mins, before Dr. Cheng comes in and then abruptly leaves again for no reason! She doesn’t come back for another 30 mins, which we have been waiting promptly in the office and the waiting room for 1.5 hours by then. If you don’t want to waste time and not get any communication from her, then beware, stay away from this place!!!

— Very nice and informational receptionist answered the phone when I called to schedule an appointment. I’ve called a few other doctors to make an appointment, but they were all rude so I finally called Dr Christi Cheng’s office. The lady who answered the phone was so nice and made me feel very welcomed.
— The wait. My appointment was at 12:15. At 12:45 I was to check my height and weight then wait in the doctor’s office for the doctor. While I waited in the office the nurse and the doctor came in to advised me that the doctor will be with me in a few minutes. I appreciate the staff here for doing that. I must say the wait is the only reason why they received 4 stars from me, but it’s ok because there’s only one doctor and I’m pretty sure they do get a lot of patients that they also need to attend to.
— Nice & Clean. From the lobby area, to the hall ways and to the doctor’s office. This place was real nice and clean.
— Free wifi & TV. The good thing is that they have free wifi. I love anywhere that has free wifi & TV while I wait.
— Parking. They do have a big parking area because there are other doctor offices in the building.
— Automated calls. They have an automated machine that calls you the day prior to your appointment to confirm and remind you of your appointment.
Overall my whole experience here in Dr. Christi Cheng’s office was great. Dr. Cheng’s was very nice. She made sure everything was ok before I left the office. She also double checked to make sure if I needed anything else before I left. I will definitely return to this office.

I started seeing Dr. Cheng in May. The visits were abrupt and short but I was waiting to get to know her better. Over a period of 4 weeks starting on August 23, 2015, I tried to get a routine prescription transferred and another renewed. Despite multiple emails and phone calls as well as faxes from my pharmacy service, I still don’t have the correct prescription! I was patient and polite but no one actually read the emails. They couldn’t get my name, date of birth or the dose right (this info was in the emails). Finally they needed to fax a prescription to a local pharmacy until the mail away refill arrived. The fax they sent was illegible (I have a copy) and was returned by the pharmacy. I have filed a complaint with the licensing board.

Urgh! I wish I could give her negative 5 stars! I know it’s my fault for still trying to make an appointment with her and not shopping for a new doctor like in my previous review.
She will not phone in my maintenance Rx even though I have scheduled a follow up with her. When my pharmacy called her for refill on maintenance Rx, Cheng’s office told pharmacist that I am not Cheng’s patient. I emailed Dr. Cheng to request Rx to pharmacy, Cheng requested fax # and pharmacy number which I immediately provided and after 10 days from initial email to Cheng I am still waiting for Rx refill.
I even scheduled an appt to see her for the refill because email is not working but then her office called to cancel the appt because Dr. Cheng is now on personal leave for two weeks. Give me a break! I have officially fired this doctor and am seeing a new doctor next week. Wish me luck!

I literately love my doctor, she is so awesome. She was very patient with me, listens to all my concerns and prescribes all the tests that she thinks i need. and explains all the blood results so well and so sincere.

I have seen her 3x now and the wait is beyond frustrating. She seems like a competent doctor but from beginning to end it’s always bee an hour + so that is a bit ridiculous in my mind.

After reading Dr. Cheng’s review, I decided to have her as my doctor. Unfortunately, I would have to rate the service a 2 star because she was always rushed and left me without finishing my question. She wasn’t clear on my medication and was given a prescription of a different patient. Luckily, the pharmacist caught the different name and I had to wait 2 hours to receive the right one. The pro side was that she responded quickly. However, I will look for a different doctor who is willing to listen and answer the patient’s concerns.

This was the last time, I will no longer go to Dr. Christi Cheng, I will look for another Dr.
Just came back from seeing Dr. Cheng for the last time. Two months ago I was sick and went to her for help. She gave me a treatment that didn’t work. So I called her to tell her that I was still sick, she gave me another treatment (something different) and some antibiotics which is what I needed in the first place, so that did work. Why she didn’t give me that from the beginning I don’t know. But I was disappointed cause she made me spend money twice since I’m a self pay person. No insurance.
Today I went to see her about a cough that I had talked to her 2 weeks ago, she again prescribed me some medication that of course didn’t work. So today she prescribed me something that I’ve taken before from different dr. so I know this will work.
This is how a visit to Dr. Cheng goes. First, you get there check in and wait for about 15 – 30 minutes before they take you in to weigh you and put you in a waiting room. Than after waiting for another 20 – 40 minutes she comes in and ask you what the problem is. Keep in mind the only time she makes eye contact is when she comes in the room. While you are telling her how you are feeling and all that she is just looking at her computer and typing. Than she gives you a prescription or tells you that she sent it to the pharmacy and sends you on your way. It takes her about 5 minutes not exaggerating from when she comes in and kicks you out of the room. That’s what it feels like.
Today she was sitting in front of the door looking at her computer and kept telling me that I could go, I just sat there and waited for her to look up so she can realize that she was blocking my way out.
She also asked me if everything else was ok, did I have any questions or concerns about her service, which she quickly answered herself by saying no questions or concerns.
Very disappointed with Dr. Cheng, I will never, never, ever go to her again. I’m looking for a new Dr. after I finish writing this review.

Note this number is her cell or some other number and not he direct office number which has an automated system. I called this number cause I didn’t have the number handy and it just rang and rang.
She then called me back hours later with a very fragmented response. She called me and didn’t announce who she was and then it sounded that sounded like she was only half paying attention to what she was saying and then said «call my nurse» and hung up on me!
She is paranoid — once telling me that people wanted her out of the practice and were stealing her patients and to not call the main number — from which I always get routed to her nurse anyway so I have no idea what that’s about.
She’s competent as a doctor but hardly ever looks up from her computer and basically pushes pills. She seems very frazzled and overworked.
Thankfully I don’t have to see her much and after this last experience I mentioned above I’ll either be switching to another doctor in the practice or leaving entirely for another doctor. For what I normally see her for I would be much better served by a good urgent care doctor.

i love Dr. Cheng! She is very thorough and listens to my concerns. I travel 45 minutes to see her because I trust her. She is very knowledgable and is always right when it comes to what is wrong. Only thing is, to stop pushing the sleep clinic thing. I sleep just fine! ;)

I’ve been going to Dr. Cheng for a while, and I’m not entirely sure why. Each time I leave the office, I have to call a loved one to rant about the worst medical care I’ve ever received; yet next time I think, «oh, it couldn’t have been *that* bad.»
The office: 3.5 out of 5 stars. The women who do intake at the front desk aren’t particularly friendly but they aren’t unfriendly either. Sitting in the waiting room (and I almost always end up sitting there a very long time) feels a bit depressing, but once your name is called, the overall experience is rather pleasant. I wouldn’t go out of my way for this experience, but it’s perfectly fine (and I *have* left a doctor’s office due to mean front office people before).
The lab: 4 of 5 stars. I love that there is a lab onsite. This is probably my favorite bit, and the biggest reason I keep coming back. They seem perfectly fine, and it’s great to get results back right away.
Dr. Cheng’s nurse: 3.5 of 5 stars. I’ve mostly dealt with her over the phone, and she’s great at calling back and helping out.
Dr. Cheng: 0 of 5 stars. Dr. Cheng seems to care, and again, she’s rather nice, but she doesn’t seem to have any inquisitiveness or analytical tendencies (I have gone in with complaints and come out with medical prescriptions without even a basic hands-​on exam), and she’s a poor listener to boot (she has given me prescriptions counter to the very information I’d just presented to her, and left me wandering out of the office wondering if she’d even heard anything I just said). It seems like she throws drugs (and the occasional outsourced procedure) at all issues, usually based on a bare bones amount of information. I’m afraid I find each office visit frustrating, and I walk away unconvinced that my actual, objective condition has been considered and addressed.
