History

Established in 2007.

Jenn Harris, owner and groomer, has worked with animals all her life. She started mobile grooming and shortly there after, moved her business to a brick and mortar providing the best and state of the art grooming with all natural products. The Zuri Pet Spa has grown and is now known as The Zuri Pet Spa & Resort. This beautiful facility is in the heart of San Juan Capistrano providing not only grooming, but boarding and daycare as well.

Business Owner

Jenn Harris has grown up with all types of animals from horses to dogs and everything in between. She started her own business mobile grooming in 2007 and then moved to a stationary store in 2010. She has been actively rescuing dogs and is an adoption partner with The Riverside Shelter. Many of her furry clients are those very rescues. Jenn now has opened up a much larger facility in the heart of San Juan Capistrano, her home town, to provide even more services such as boarding and daycare. This is her love and her passion and it shows when your pet is at the Spa.

We’ve been with Zuri since they opened & love their grooming! …tried boarding, not as successful — even after calling to say we would be picking them up, they didn’t get their promised baths.
a few weeks ago, we dropped 4 of our dogs off for grooming and to stay the day… we were 30 minutes late to pick-​up & they wouldn’t let us have our dogs! (mgt needs to reconsider their policies, especially when 4 people were there. I would have paid a late pick-​up fee)

I live in San Diego. I called and told them my daughter who lives in town boards their cat there. We are going out of town and flying out of LA so thought I would bring my newly adopted cat there. I said I was going to be in Irvine on Sunday and could I come by and check the place out? Absolutely! I was told. We close at 6:00. We got there at 5:20 was told I should have been there before 3? I explained I called and visiting for the day from San Diego and all I got from the gentleman behind the counter was «I’m so sorry». He wouldn’t even let me go up to the cat area. It would be different if I hadn’t called first, but I followed exactly what I was told.

Brought my pup here for the first time to be groomed. They definitely took their time with him but sadly he developed kennel cough from being here. Funny thing is while I was there someone called and wanted to see if they would let her dog be groomed without a bordetella vaccine. They were trying to decide if they would let it slide and well this is why it is important to make this vaccine mandatory for any dog that is being groomed, coming in for daycare or boarding. Sadly my grooming appointment now cost me antibiotics and a cough suppressant but most of all sick dogs. I have three dogs, all of which are up to date but my pup brought it home. Hoping they read this review and do a very in depth cleaning especially since this is airborne. Unfortunately I won’t be willing to take my pup back there.

I would have given 5 stars in the beginning as I was impressed to see my dog playing with a pack of other dogs. I have a Jack Russell who is not usually friendly. The staff did monitor the dogs during day care and stop any potential issues… but what happened once bringing him home is my concern. My dog instantly was sick. Mind you, he had a clean bill of health the week before going to Zuri. Now 3 weeks later,$ 500 after and with a trip to the ICU today… Zuri staff let me know «yeah we had about 6 – 10 dogs who had a stomach virus». Then they let me know that the others were fine a few days later. I doubt they followed up but if my dog ends up with Giardia they will be hearing back from me. Not enough attention to detail, if a dog is sick they should not be in camp, sharing water, going feces with others, etc! And the owners should have been notified for all to be aware!

Zuri Pet Spa played a huge part of our wedding day! We found them through Unilocal when we needed to board our «flower girl dog» for the pre and post wedding day festivities. They took such amazing care of Sadie (1 yr old white labrador) !! We were able to have them bring Sadie to the venue in the dog limo and back to the spa after the ceremony. They made sure she was pretty and clean, and the owner even had Sadie wear a pretty, fancy collar for the ceremony. They treated her amazing!!! The staff there was super friendly.

If only my Toby could post a review, he would give it 5 paws instead of stars! I chosed this place based on previous Unilocal reviews/​manager responses and I was not dissapointed. From reservation to check in/​out, everything was seamless. I love the fact that I can spontaneously watch my dog as he plays through their cameras and I can see he is having a great time; most importantly that Zuri Pet does not have any time restrictions/​cut off times on the day of pick-​up. This allowed us to spend more time vacationing without rushing to get the dog. Overall, very positive experience and would highly recommend Zuri Pet Spa and Resort!

Love this place. I had an emergency and had to take my 5 month bully pit in for daycare for just a few hours. You can show up anytime no appointment. You know how convenient that is !!! And then pick up anytime before 7pm?! That’s exactly what I need !!! My schedule changes every 5 minutes and keeping time commitments is hard for me. Their staff is so nice and they all truly love dogs. They had no hesitation to my pit bull which I appreciated. Their prices are beyond reasonable. I love this place and so does my pup!

Hello Zuri Friends! Wanted to thank you so much for taking such great care of our Stella girl last weekend. It was the 1st time we’ve ever boarded her so we were a little nervous about leaving her for our first time. Everyone there was extremely friendly, kind, and helpful. Thank you for answering all my silly questions and for treating her so great. We LOVED that we were able to pop-​in and peek at her on the web cam anytime — so awesome! She looked like she was having a blast there with you all. Your online reservations were seamless and so easy to use — loved the ease of it all! (And the report card after her stay was PAWSOME!) Thank you tons, We’ll be back again! :)

I had to board my puppy for the first time while I went on vacation, needless to say I was a nervous wreck! I interviewed several places and they made me feel uneasy, either their facilities were not up to par, they were too focused on trying to up-​sale me on other products like training (though my sweet guy just graduated puppy school and told them that), or didn’t offer cameras, or used to have cameras and blamed their consumers for the reason why they took them down. Which I find to be BS, because those cameras are amazing, they give fur baby parents the peace of mind knowing their babies are in good hands, if you took the cameras down it was because your consumer base was calling you out of something you shouldn’t have been doing or should have been doing and instead of correcting the bad behavior, decided to keep your consumer base blissfully ignorant. Zuri pet spa hit a homerun for everything that I was expecting for a dog boarder… Personal, spacious suite for my little guy, lots of play time, the puppy cam is free and the cutest thing ever, lots of attention and care… Their price is just as competitive as all the other places I interviewed, on top of that he was all squeaky clean and happy whenever I picked him up… I would highly recommend this place for either puppy day care or boarding. They are phenomenal.

To my husband and I our dog is our baby and we only want the best for her. Luckily for us at Zuri Pet Spa and Resort she always receives the best care! We have had our dog in many times for day care and numerous times for extended, overnight boarding. We have never been disappointed and love seeing how happy our dog is to arrive at Zuri Pet Spa. She cannot wait to get inside and head back into the play room area. Two great perks: the cameras on their site allow you to watch your dog throughout your dog’s time at Zuri and the pick up/​drop off option (for a small charge)! They definitely have thought of all the ways to make the customer as comfortable as possible. The staff at Zuri is great; they always have a smile on their face and seem genuinely happy to see you and your pet (s).

I take my dogs here frequently, and they are treated so well! Every time I tell them we are «going to Zuri» they get so excited! The staff is super friendly and they know my dogs. The facility is clean and beautiful. Can’t say enough nice things about Zuri!

the room. We were also informed she would be receiving individual walks. When we picked her up she was unable to walk, needed to be carried to the car and into our house as well as taken to our vet for meds. I immediately inquired and was informed that something must have occurred in the bathing room with one of the other dogs — I asked about how the dogs were monitored and got a totally useless response. Furthermore, over a week’s stay our lab put on 3lbs which makes us conclude that Zuri didn’t provide appropriate exercise!!! Lastly, our precious lab still can not walk and Zuri never even followed up. If you love your pet, I would NOT recommend Zuri Pet Spa.

I dropped my dog off for a bath and to spend a few hours at day care. While he was there, I pulled up the website to watch him on line. Little dog room is all indoors and the guy working it is just walking around looking out the window and totally ignoring the dogs. I mean throw some balls to them and make it fun! He looked miserable. I would still have my dog groomed here, but the day care sucks and none of those dogs were playing or getting petted or loved on or having any fun — just pooping and peeing on concrete.

If my goldendoodle could talk, he would likely give this place a five. I’ve taken my dog here a few times for daycare. Every time I pull up to this place, my dog gets excited and jumps out of the car before I can get my foot out the door. After leaving him for 8+ hours, he’s tuckered out and sleeps on the drive home and is basically leaves me alone for the rest of the evening.
My interaction with the front desk staff has been pleasant. I was able to tell that the staff cares for the dogs and they were able to address any concerns that I had. Very friendly staff, I highly recommend this place.

I’ve never boarded my two dogs, Diva and Mo, but we were traveling for 10 days, so we didn’t have a choice. I visited this spa and another boarding spa — Zuri passed the smell good test. The place was clean and the staff very pleasant.
I took my dogs there for day camp as a «try out» before they were actually boarded. I really think they had a wonderful time. So when we left for our trip I was able to check on the dogs daily via their webcam. It was a wonderful feature and I could see how much fun my babies were having.
When we arrived to pick them up, the dogs were clean and Zuri washed their bedding. I couldn’t believe it.
Will I board there again, absolutely. This is the very best place and I know my dogs were treated extremely well and they had a good time.

I found zuri by driving by on the highway.
Reviews were great, and front desk area was nice so I thought I’d give my dog a treat, since he’s been traveling with me a lot.
I called and they were able to get my dog in immediately.
I told them I wanted him washed, ears cleaned etc ($ 15 add on) and also a massage. I called in a couple minutes after dropping him off and requested his nails not be trimmed since he bleeds easily. I file his nails at home.
When I picked Chico up, it was a pleasant surprise that I received a new client discount… But they didn’t give him the massage, and they trimmed his nails… A few cut too short and most of them looking jagged.
This place appears to be a five star, but I felt my requests were completely ignored.
I would happily pay more than $ 20 for my dog to be pampered

Love our Pet spa! They take such good care of our two little love bugs! Sophie & Gucci! I have had horrible experiences in the past but I must say the Zuri Pet Spa has it right! Their customer service and their friendly groomers and attentive front desk employees are all part of one big happy plan that makes the spa worth coming back to every week! We have both of our dogs groomed their and we board them in their beautiful Tuscan Style Doggie Hotel when we travel! My older dog is under special Care and requires Meds and they have always made sure to ask for the correct info. Congrats Zuri Pet Spa for being the best Pet Spa in South County!
