The Farm School on Los Rios offers hands-​on cooking classes, the ultimate farm to table culinary experience, in an historical farm cottage setting. The Farm School conducts classes that highlight the art of seasonal cooking from around the world and our own backyard.

A wide range of classes are available for groups, couples, and individuals in our state-​of-​the-​art commercial kitchen. The Farm School celebrates the art of learning and has created a place where people can rediscover the simple pleasure of gathering and cooking.

The Farm School is also the perfect place to hold cooking parties and events. The gardens and cottage create an ideal background to cook up your own special occasion, including wedding showers, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, birthday celebrations and Date Nights!

History

Established in 1997.

In 2008, the Warkentien family and the Rancho Viejo Montessori School together acquired the Salvador Labat farmhouse in the historical Los Rios neighborhood of San Juan Capistrano. The renamed «Farm School on Los Rios» serves as the school’s land lab — a haven for education with emphasis on land based activities.

The property features a circa 1903 board and batten cottage and hundreds of roses. It is an idyllic setting with lush gardens, fruit trees, raised vegetable beds, koi pond and a majestic oak. The commercial kitchen, with its large marble topped island, is perfect for communal cooking while the cozy living and dining rooms are perfect for gathering with friends and family. In 2012, the Farm School opened its doors to the community with Cooking Classes. Cooking Classes are a great way to celebrate date nights, private gatherings, bridal showers and more.
