Waxbusters Auto Detailing & Polishing

So I’m also a grouponer that recently took my car to Robert. I became concerned about the quality of the job after reading all the really bad reviews on Unilocal (and smart old me read the reviews after dropping off my car). But I noticed that there are a few reviews of people who are basing their review on other reviews, and not on their experiences. I think that’s kind of unfair… but then again, so is the inter-​web and Unilocal (and any other online rating forum). So I’m making my comment based on my experience.
First off, for me, getting a hold of Robert wasn’t as bad as some Unilocalers had experienced. We played phone tag a bit, but were able to get in touch with eachother in a timely fashion.
Next, scheduling the appointment, aside from making me schedule out 4 weeks, not bad, he was accomodating.
Next, the day of. I drove to the address listed on the groupon (and on Unilocal). I got there and the place was closed. No sign, doors locked, windows shut… etc etc. I called Robert and he told me he had moved address and it was a good 20 minutes away (so that was kind of a bummer)
Dropped of the car… and 5 hours later I get a call saying it’s done.
Make my way back to pick up the car, Robert is not there (not nice) I think it was his son that was there. I looked at the overall quality of the cleaning, here’s what I found:
1. First overall impression was good
2. Rims were sparkly
3. Tires were shiny
4. Body was shiny
5. checked inside and the floors were vacuumed and shampooed, the carpet was slightly damp, but not sopping wet.
6. Interior was dust-​free
However, while I was driving home I did start to notice:
1. there were a few streaky marks on the windows/​windshield/​sunroom (not a lot… a few)
2. I wasn’t certain if the dash was just wiped for dust, or if it was actually armoralled (sp?) I’ve armor… alled my other cars and it’s usually really shiny and you can tell
When I got home:
1. I noticed a couple bird poop residue, that probably could have been scrubbed off
2. I’m not certain how to tell if the car was waxxed or not (and if it was how well of a job was done).
3. There were some scuff marks that i rubbed with my fingers and went away
So, all in all, wasn’t a bad deal. Maybe he took some of these Unilocaler comments to heart? Maybe you other guys just had. many. many bad experiences? I don’t know.
Would I come back? Not sure, I’ll probably try some other places so I can get a better reference. But I (personally) wouldn’t give him a 1 star or less.

Had a $ 99 Groupon coupon. Very difficult to reach to schedule an appointment. No one answers during the day, and often the mailbox is full and you can’t even leave a message. Finally drove over there and scheduled it in person, as my Groupon was due to expire.
Had to postpone the appointment due to a travel conflict, and Robert agreed to reschedule. His 1^st opening was 2 days after my expiration date. He agreed to accept it, but cautioned me not to miss that appointment.
Appointment was for today at 8 am. Arrived there and found another Groupon customer waiting. No one there, shop locked up. She waited until 8:30 and left, I waited until 9 am (sign on the door states they are open from 9 – 5, although phone recording says 8 – 5). Finally left, left a phone message, and still have not heard from them.
Groupon was great about refunding the coupon purchase. I can’t believe Groupon is now running a new Waxbusters deal, in fact, it was today’s Deal of the Day.
Beware! Read the reviews listed here in Unilocal.I’m not the only one with a negative experience.

I gave my Dad the Groupon as a gift and I will say it was not a well-​spent $ 99 bucks.
We will not be repeat customers. He had an SUV so they charged him an upgrade of $ 30. We basically paid 129 for a car wash. He still had bug guts and sap on the outside of his car. On the inside he has some coffee stains that were ignored so thanks for nothing Waxbusters and Groupon! I will be checking Unilocal on all companies that Groupon has offers on to be sure I don’t get ripped off again.

The Groupon people graciously put a credit on my account for this mistake that was supposed to be a detailing job by Waxbusters,
It became apparent a few days later, on 2÷29÷12 that they did not wax the car. The rain finally came on that day, and water did not bead on the finish as one would have seen, and expected, if they actually did the job.
Bottom line: Like the others, this place didn’t give what they promised. Do yourself a favor and skip them.

Here is a place that’s earned it’s 1-​star rating. Unilocalers speak the truth when it comes to Robert and his sorry excuse for a business. God, I wish I’d followed you guys’ advice and NOT give this place the benefit of the doubt.
Most of the time I’ll let things slide IF the guy’s willing to work with me and if there’s some semblance of customer service (as in, *some* effort to keep my business), but this guy is a piece of work. Always rude on the phone, seems to enjoy forcing his customers and potential customers playing phone tag (over a week before I finally got him on the phone and able to make an appointment), threatened to add additional fees for cancelling, even when things are out of anyone’s control — LIKE A FREAKING RAINSTORM!!! Geez, I’m not God. I can’t control the weather, and I don’t feel like throwing down a couple hundred dollars just to drive it out in the dirty rain right afterwards. Geez.
Seriously, that’s no way to treat customers… and you would all be wise to STAY AWAY from this place.
TRUST Unilocal.

Like everyone else, I bought a $ 99 car wash deal through Groupon. The owner Robert and I played phone tag for a couple of times before I finally got an appointment. I have to say he called back each time so he was very prompt and polite.
Unfortunately, right after I made my appointment, I bought a new car and traded my old car in so I no longer needed a car wash, but my Groupon was going to expire. I called Robert and advised him of my situation and asked whether he would consider extending my Groupon. After some hesitation and a little speech about the purpose of the expiration date, he agreed to an extension for $ 20 more. At the time, I thought that was fair.
Then I received an email from him promising that he will take good care of me then proceeded to ask me to post a «positive» review on Unilocal for him because he is being black listed by Unilocal and that all of his positive reviews were removed. This prompted me to go on Unilocal to see what the heck has been going on. I could not believe what I read. I was completely shocked and very afraid of taking my new car to him. I guess he is so desparate now that «no one» is calling him for an appointment. I decided to eat my $ 99 Groupon and move on. Thanks Unilocalers.

Like others, I redeemed my $ 99 Groupon voucher for a complete interior and exterior detailing, valued at $ 200. The last time I got my car detailed it cost $ 300, but that included touch-​up for nicks and chips, so I wasn’t expecting a similar level of service.
I called to make an appointment with Robert about 2 weeks before, dropped off the car on a Saturday morning with Robert, and although the facility and staff don’t look very professional, they actually did a good job cleaning the interior and exterior.
Marc called me a few hours later to offer to clean the headlights for an extra $ 20, which I agreed to. I came back to pick up the car that afternoon, Marc showed me the drying carpeted floor mats in the trunk and allowed me to do a quick check of the job they had done. I thought it a bit odd that the boss/​owner/​manager, Robert, was not present, and their receipt lists a different business name at the top.
When I got home, I discovered that my second set of floor mats were missing. These were rubber ones that I used to protect the nice carpeted mats underneath from snow, mud, and dirt from my hockey gear. I left a voice message explaining the situation. The following Monday morning, I got a call from Robert saying that he had conducted a search, and there were no such mats left in his facility, and that neither he nor any of his employees had taken them. Rather than argue the point, and since the mats were about 10 years old, I proposed that for a $ 20 refund, I would consider the issue resolved. It took a few days and 2 – 3 followup phone messages, but he finally agreed to compensate me.
Three stars for the work they did, but since they misplaced the mats, and didn’t assume responsibility, I will probably not be a repeat customer, even though they compensated me for the loss.

Groupon buyers beware!
I purchased a groupon for this business several months back and I tried 2 times before my current appointment to redeem for the service. They were always too busy when they heard I had a Groupon.
Finally I get an appointment and today I show up for the 8:00 appointment (on time) and what the heck no one is there. I wait, I knock and nothing. I’m sending for a refund from Groupon. The other reviews are correct. This is a shamefully lousy business and I feel lucky they did touch my car.

I also bought a groupon for Waxbusters for their ‘headlight’ cleaning. I thought wow, this is a good price, and it’s literally just a few blocks from where I live so I thought I’d give them a shot.
I took my car down and they said it would only take about 45min. so I dropped it off and walked home. They said they would call me when it was done, so 2.5hrs later STILL no call. So I called them, got no answer, finally about 3hrs later he called to tell me it was done. Granted I actually I was in no rush or did not have to be anywhere, it is the principle of the thing as he originally told me it would be less than an hour.
I go to pick it up, he walks me outside to show me the headlights, and honestly I couldn’t tell they had done ANYTHING to it at all (btw my headlights were not THAT bad). Then he gave me some bull story about how mine were bad and it was because the lights had ‘burned’ the covers on the INSIDE and that they really couldn’t do much with it. What!!! INSIDE huh?.. Bullcrap! It’s because over time it gets the haze due to the outside elements (aka weather, dirt, grime, etc) NOT because the frigging light on the INSIDE has caused it!!! Yep, this made me furious! So in other words, you basically did NOTHING and I waited 3hrs for you to tell me that. Even IF they could not do a proper job and ‘restore’ the headlights he should have just called me immediately to let me know, NOT make me wait 3 hrs for nothing. I told him straight out that it looked like nothing was done to my car, he didn’t say a whole lot and proceeded to give me a ‘Free Coupon for wash and wax’…That’s bullcrap!!! I wonder if they did this to other people as well, basically suckered you in, and then are like, ‘oh we’re sorry, hey why don’t ya come on back for a freebie lil’ car wash and wax?’.Really…Yeah right, I will NOT be going back.
I was very disppointed that Groupon would work with a company like this, although I WILL totally give a shout out to them as I wrote them to let them know how very dissatisfied I was with this service and wanted a full refund. They wrote back, apologized for my experience and gave me back my money!!!
Don’t waste your money go somewhere else!

This place seems like a very shady business. I saw they only had 1.5 stars on the Groupon website and clicked on the Unilocal link, where I found tons of horrible Unilocal reviews. Funny thing is, there are plenty of reviewers who gave 5 stars but they have 0 friends and 1 review, plus all of the reviews are similar 2-​liners — seems like the owner made up fake IDs to make good reviews for himself. Was going to purchase but definitely will not anymore. BE CAREFUL!

I have got to echo the comments of Sharon before me. I’m surprised that Groupon would do business with a less-​than-​reputable company. Sharon made the astute observation that all 5 star reviews were cheap two-​liners with seemingly quickly-​constructed Unilocal reviews. As for the attitude that Unilocalers have received from the proprietors, it is absolutely evident in the responses from Lori on Unilocal.People should be absolutely satisfied, and should have the right not to pay for inferior work. I appreciate the photos from mjfromsj, and I know that that the groupon deal won’t be worth it, waiting for a month for a detail won’t be worth it, and I’m sure other places will get the job done.

I recently bought a used car and it needed a good waxing and some interier cleaning, a friend sugesting WaxBusters. I did a drive by and they were abel to fit me in without an appointmentn“great”. The Waiting area was very comfy and the people there were very friendly and personel. When my car was finished it looked like it just came off the showroom floor and the inside was imaculate, they cleaned every crevice like new. Thanks Busters

Waxbusters hands down is the BEST in town!
They did an phenomenal job detailing my car and had it looking like new again!
They were very professional and the service was exceptional, worth every penny!

I will never go to this place again. We made an appointment a month in advance for 9am. After leaving the car, we got no phone calls all day to say it was ready, even after leaving a couple of messages on Robert’s cell phone. Finally, about 10 minutes before closing, we went to get the car, again no phone call, we went on our own. The car wheels had been wiped, that was it. We complained.
Robert was initally very professional and called back to apologize and offered to actually do the car at another time. We made another appointment for another month later because he said he’d work on the car personally himself (versus the two young boys who look like they are still in high school but seem to be the only employees).
I called three times to confirm our second appointment, no calls back. We decided to risk the drop off anyway and Robert showed up with the same two kids again. We dropped off the car and Robert said it would be ready in about two hours since we were dropping off the car before his normal day shift hour. No calls from his shop. I called again twice, no calls back. We showed up to see how they were doing almost 4 hours later. The car was ready. At first glance, it did look washed this time at least. And it looked like there was still wax between the Copper lettering in back so it seemed like it had been worked on.
We were beyond disappointed. The car had some wipe downs in the front but the back seats had clearly not been touched. The front was wiped in the obvious area (this is our only good picture) but if you look at the rest of the pictures, you will see that all the «details» had been missed. I complained about the back seats, they were still dusty to the touch and the carpets had not even been vacuumed. One of the boys said he’d vacuum it at that point. We waited while he vacuumed the back rugs. This is not a professional job. My 10 year old does better. I complained to the boy and Robert was once again, no where to be found.
About an hour later I saw that I had three missed calls, all from Robert aggressively complaining about how he had worked on my car twice now and that I, the customer, did not recognize quality when I saw it. Really? Take a look at the pictures and see for yourself. The front grill is the best, even a regular drive through car wash prevents this dirt but Robert’s «detailed wax» somehow missed it.
Very disappointed, what started out as something really exciting, ended up being a complete rip off.

This guy is terrible with terrible attitude. Surprised how he is still in business. I call him to make an appointment and he tries to lecture me when I should get My Own car washed! He changes the schedule on me and blames me that I messed up my dates… Waste of time and just avoid this guy! Thanks to groupon for refund. Can’t believe he is now on livingsocial…

horrible customer service and horrible detailing job it was half Ass yo say the least. This business will not be in existence much longer that’s a fact!

Update: Groupon did refund me my money and apologized. Kudos to groupon for doing the right thing. I just hope they reconsider ever partnering with waxbusters again after all the horrible experiences.

Was planning to take my car here for detailing, but after the treatment my husband received at this place today by Robert, I will NEVER take any of our cars here. I witnessed the telephone conversation and it was ridiculous the verbal abuse that my husband endured. He called my husband a jerk for trying to reschedule and for trying to ask for a time frame that the car would be completed (uh, isn’t that a normal question?). Robert even asked him if he was on drugs? WTF. On drugs? Way to win over a customer. EPIC failure of a business. Avoid this place unless you want to be called a jerk and asked if you are on drugs and be hung up on.
Good thing groupon got us a refund so we can take our business elsewhere!
UPDATE: So Robert from Waxbusters decided to comment on my post. Apparently he thinks that everyone who gives him a one-​star based on his poor customer service is a liar. I agree with him that there are two sides to every story. However, I must be quite ingenious to come up with the innovative story that he asked my husband if he was on drugs and called him a «jerk». I haven’t written almost 500 reviews to make up stories on Unilocal.Hopefully people can see through and see who the real liar is here (I’m sleeping quite well at night…) Anyhow, it’s also quite interesting that Vince D.‘s 5 star review was added on the same day that Robert commented on my post. And if you read the writing, the review is written with the same poor grammar and spelling… Hmmmm. At least cover it up and use spell check? Unilocal,time to flag fakers!

They were able to give me a great interior detailing job and they were open in the rain and were able to finish it the same day without an appointment. Lori, was so helpful and gave great customer service. Also, if you choose to wait for your car to be finished, they have a great seating area which makes you feel at home. Literally, their waiting area looks like a living room. There is a smell of cigarettes in the waiting room/​office and it may bother non-​smokers (it bothered me a little) but they don’t smoke inside while you are there waiting which is very considerate of them.
I would say that I’d come back but I really can’t as I am moving away from the area pretty soon. However, if I lived nearby I’d probably come back to get a full detail (which is a $ 99 special right now).

Wow, I’m first to review! I’m surprised no one has reviewed this place, but then again …
The only reason I found this place again, after having gone there some 2 years ago, was because I received a call from them today and a voicemail much to my surprise. It went something like this:
«Hi, this is Robert from Wax Busters, you were a customer a while ago and I just wanted to see if you needed anymore services on your car recently, we’re running some specials. Please call.»
After you read my story, you will realize why I found this to be a hilarious voicemail … some small businesses should really start doing some record keeping.
I found out about Wax Busters because although I had seen it many times near Santa Clara University, I never felt like they looked like a trust worthy place to take my car. It wasn’t until a friend of mine who had the same colored car took his car there one day and raved about it when he picked it up that I gave them any thought at all. From my friend’s great recommendations, I decided to go to wax busters. I made an appointment, dropped off my car, and walked to school.
They charged me $ 250 for a full detail, inside and out, as well as getting out some of the water spots that were on my paint. I asked them to describe to me how they were going to do the work and Robert, who was the only English speaking person at Wax Busters, quickly tried to tell me they were going to polish and use certain polishes and wax (but did not go into detail) and sent me off. I had class anyway so I just let it go. After all, my friend’s car came out great right? (I should have known though … I hadn’t actually seen my friend’s car up to this point — 3^rd day after his detail — and I probably should look at the finished product before I dumped $ 250 on a detail)
I came back in the afternoon to pick up my car, Robert was not there, and when I saw my car and the employee (single) that was working on my car, I noticed that it was not satisfactory at all. In fact many of the spots he claimed to get out were still there and some basic things like my rims and the cracks in my body panels were unclean and/​or filled with wax. There were still bug remnants on my headlights! I was pretty furious but after failing to communicate with the single employee present at the time since he spoke no English at all, he tried to call Robert at no avail and I was not happy … but I picked up my car and wrote Robert a note that I would be back the next morning to discuss my review of his detailing.
That afternoon, I called up my friend to tell him that I did not find his review to be accurate of the detailing job that I got because it was a mess, and my friend apologetically said that although his detail looked great the first day … subsequent days he began to notice that there were swirl marks and water spots and things that he also thought went away but actually did not.
The next morning I went to Robert to complain about promised work vs. delivered. Instead of being sympathetic and listening to me and seeing the actual flaws that he was supposed to fix with his detailing, he tried to tell me that my car was in terrible condition to begin with (which it was not) and that it had been in a front end collision because he **knows** from years of experience that I had bondo on my hood. First, I did not believe him because I had done extensive research on my car and its history prior to purchasing a used vehicle, and secondly I questioned his expertise.
For the purpose of peace of mind, I went to B-​Line in San Jose whose expertise on BMWs is unparalleled and spoke to the owner about my car. He did a thorough inspection and told me that what Robert claimed about my car and any bondo places were completely untrue and then gave me the insight on how to look for ‘covered up’ damage in cars so I would not be fooled by someone else talking about the wrong thing next time.
I called Robert back and explained to him these new findings I had, and he was extremely rude and told me that I really have no idea what I am talking about and he would not offer me a refund because he did not think he failed on the services to which he promised (i.e. take out swirl marks and water spots on my paint and actually CLEAN the car for $ 250…)
I repeatedly tried to reason with him with no avail, so finally I filed a charge back with my credit card company to get my money back since he was extremely difficult to work with. He found out about this particular charge back which went through and called me up and was EXTREMELY rude and actually started yelling at me. I thought this was such terrible business practice, I also filed a complaint with the BBB.
This entire ordeal lasted for over 2 months back and forth. I don’t think I would ever recommend or EVER go back to this place again.
Hence why … the voicemail I received this morning I found to be so funny …
They should keep their records straight.
