Description

Specialties

Imagine a community where all children are empowered with the skills and self confidence to succeed, a community where adults reach out to inspire underserved youth to Dare to Dream. At The Role Model Program, our initiatives work to create this community by providing positive role models for youth in need of hope, inspiration and guidance throughout Santa Clara County, CA.

In just one hour a week for eight weeks, The Role Model Program, through its signature Community Classroom Visit Program, provides the adult role models and life skills to transform the goals, dreams and aspirations of underserved youth.

We welcome fourth and fifth and seventh and eighth grade teachers within underserved schools to request The Community Classroom Visit Program and caring adults to become Role Model Volunteers to support our belief that investing time in our youth is essential for a strong community.

History

Established in 1989.

Created in 1989, The Role Model Program provides the only classroom-based, semester-long program serving a 100% disadvantaged student population with the unique combination of asset development, role modeling, and college-going information. In addition, The Role Model Program is unique in starting college access programming in elementary school, focusing on 4th and 7th grades for the Community Classroom Visit Program. The Role Model Program’s mission is to provide culturally diverse, positive adult role models who will inspire, motivate, and empower underserved elementary and middle school youth to realize academic achievement, set ambitious dreams for their future, and prepare for post-secondary education.
