The Golf Club At Boulder Ridge

Our daughter’s wedding was up at the Pavilion. The Boulder Staff (kudos to Cara! Lisa! Stephanie! and Chris) were helpful — which is expected, but what made the day so wonderful was that everyone was so lovely, warm, attentive, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. I can’t remember a time when I felt such a positive attitude from the staff and can’t thank all of them enough for making me feel that it was their pleasure to take care of my requests. Really really amazing! And the food was delicious and served hot to all 200 of us. We’ve celebrated Mom’s 80^th BDay at Boulder, as well as other special events and would only be repeating myself if I went into details. Boulder is a guaranteed 5-​star event every time.
Examples of exceptional service:
— They saved a hot meal for a wayward Groomsman who got stick at the bar. lol
— Wedding Planner Stephanie called in advance to let us know a champagne flute arrived broken. We forgot the cake topper so she quickly had the florist preform their magic. After a challenge with the photographer she stopped by to ask how I was doing. And so much more.
— They spec’d a candy bar location that was different from our request and far far better!
— They found a home for the favors that needed to be kept cool.
I only wish I had another daughter so I can do that again.

I had my lovely wedding here 8÷15÷15. Working with Stephanie on my wedding details was such a breeze. She was so sweet, accommodating and professional. My husband and I loved our very special day as well as our family and guests. I didn’t give this venue five stars only b/​c of the following: 1) my signature drink was made with the wrong alcohol. I made it a point to be very specific about the ingredients due to the need for the color to be blush and this was quite disappointing that it was not the correct alcohol ordered. I even had chalkboards made that displayed the drink names and ingredients so that was a let down that it didn’t match and especially for pictures. However the bartenders (wish I had names were awesome!). 2) the night before I went up to the pavilion to view the room which was already being decorated. I noticed the two fake trees next to the fireplace. I asked that they be removed and the woman (not Stephanie) said she would take care of that but come the next day they were still there. I know it’s a small thing but with everything I bought as far as decorations, the trees would not factor in with my shabby chic/​elegant theme. I even had some pictures taken off the walls b/​c I wasn’t a fan of some of them. 3) I noticed and heard for a couple people that some plates carrying the filet mignon were quite rare and since a bride always worries about the guests, that had me concerned. 4) after the ceremony I really wanted to rush back into the bridal suite to freshen up and ditch the heat a little (mid 90’s) but being that the guests were gathered around the same area I had to rush past guests once I made my move which made me feel a little rude b/​c I wasn’t ready to meet and greet. This might be far fetched but maybe having a door from inside the pavilion connect to the bridal room would help this issue should it come up again in the future. 5) the cake cutting was very slow for only 106 guests and they seemed to be only bringing out mostly 1 of the 3 flavors. Ok enough complaining! I wouldn’t have had my wedding anywhere else. Boulder ridge is beautiful. I was no bridezilla but I had to be a little picky and give an honest review. This venue is breath taking with the views and I hope to visit this location again b/​c it was the spot of my most magical day yet.

I live in the area and play a lot of golf. I recently got to play a charitable golf tournament there and was surprised at how good the golf course is. Much better than what I have heard about it. The best views of any country club in south bay. Not only are the views great but the course feels like you are far away from everything, yet you are right in the middle of the Blossom Valley and Almaden Valley.
The course is very good and really fun to play. It is difficult be very playable. Every hole is totally different and again incredible views of the entire area from every hole. Condition of the course was excellent. The range is not the best but you do hit off grass and we hit drivers but not sure if you are able to regularly. Nice putting and chipping green but didn’t see any area to practice bunker shots.
The clubhouse is very nice. Excellent facilities and they have plans to build a fitness center. Boulder ridge has the best golf course of the country clubs in south bay.

I’m the operations manager for the annual Bill Hewlett & Dave Packard Charity Golf Classic; we’re getting ready to hold our fourth tournament in a row at Boulder Ridge at the end of September and I thought it was time that I wrote a review of this wonderful place!
I have to admit I’m not a golfer, so I have no first-​hand experience playing here, but our golfers rave about this course, both for its unique challenges and its amazing beauty. Indeed, one need not be a golfer to enjoy the breathtaking setting of this course. I’d lived in San Jose for almost 30 years when I first found out about Boulder Ridge and was shocked that such a scenic spot exists in my own hometown!
As an event organizer, I’m especially pleased by the service we receive from the Boulder Ridge staff. Our event planning team is quite small and overworked, so we truly appreciate the help and attention we get from the BR staff (and I have to say we really enjoy working with them, too!). Finally, I shouldn’t overlook the food — it’s been consistently excellent through the years!
We who run the Bill & Dave Golf Classic love this place and can’t wait to come back, and the same goes for our golfers. need I really say more?

After numerous visits to other venue’s for our wedding, We came across Boulder Ridge. From the moment we drove up to the pavilion to meeting with the wedding coordinator and viewing the price list and what’s included, our decision was made in a split second and it was the «BEST» choice by far. We want to personally acknowledge and thank Stephanie Lui our marvelous wedding coordinator. She was very personable, on top of every email and phone call, very detail oriented and a true professional. Ever aspect of the venue was flawless (our food, cake, BR staff, the pavilion and the over all service). We highly recommend this venue to anyone who is looking to get married. Thank you to «The Golf Club At Boulder Ridge» for making our wedding on July 25, 2014 memorable and picture– perfect. Our guest are still talking about our wedding and how delightful everything was. You deserve these 5 STARS.

My organization recently held their annual golf tournament and live auction at this venue and we had a great time.
It was my first time coordinating a golf tournament, and it went without a hitch thanks to the staff. Sandie, who had assisted us with food and beverages and our golf pro, Craig, were both incredibly accommodating and friendly.
Though I don’t play golf myself, I have heard that the course is on the more difficult side. What I can say for sure is that the course and venue is absolutely stunning.
¹⁰⁄₁₀ would host an event there again.

This is one the best golf courses in San Jose, the restaurant has amazing food a excellent service all around.

Better than most restaurants! Had a wonderful lunch in the comfortably appointed club house with the best view in the valley! My lunch was off the charts great. I ordered the special of the day: Lightly fried Mahi Mahi sandwich with a very tasty coleslaw topping. The Mahi Mahi stayed crispy to the last bite. The roll was of the gourmet variety and the onion rings were crisp and the onion was slightly sweet! The Club House dinning alone is enough to make me join this beautiful club. It’s not easy to find great places to eat and this was a truly exceptional find.

Was pleasantly surprised to be invited here for lunch today from good friends who are members of this club.
The facility is beautiful, the grounds are well groomed, and the views from the meeting rooms, dining rooms and wrap around balconies are tremendous.
The onion rings are outstanding and the burgers are some of the best. The coffee has a unique taste. The flourless chocolate cake is great and the raspberry sorbet is excellent.
If you know someone who is a member ask to be taken or ask to take them!

Great course

I didn’t know this Private Club existed. They have beautiful grounds that I took my dog walking around. Too bad I don’t play golf. LOL.

Great course and very friendly staff. We were able to order from the course and it was ready for us when we got back to the club house. Food is very good and the atmosphere is extremely inviting and homey. My hats off to Brandi Faye, the new Executive Chef, for putting on an excellent Prime Rib themed buffet that soothed the savage beast in me after playing a very challenging course. Kudos also to Glenda for being the one who hired Chef Brandi, buy a lottery ticket because we may not get this lucky again.

Went to my friend’s engagement dinner here and it was beautiful! I’ve been to Almaden many times but I never thought there would be a hidden place such as this just a short drive from Almaden Expressway! The entrance to this private community is tucked behind Almaden Lake.
Driving in you are going slightly uphill but not too much of a climb. You’ll see the beautiful golf club on a ridge overlooking everything.
Really nice inside with nice staff. Great views of the valley inside and outside on their great patio. Minus one star is for the food which was just so so.
Wouldn’t mind coming back here to enjoy a glass of wine and relax.

Note: PRIVATE CLUB
Played last week on ¹⁰⁄₂₇. Course was in great shape with the exception of fairway work on the first hole. It’s definitely a wonderful track. If you’ve ever played the Ranch at Silver Creek (the worst track ever built) this course has the same amazing hillside views but the course is actually playable. Where the nearby Ranch is flat out ridiculous (hidden bunkers, roll-​off fairways, etc.) Boulder Ridge is still tough but very fair. I will say that there are two holes, 12 and 13, that look like they were an afterthought. However, you won’t find yourself losing a dozen balls out here and if you move up a tee box (or two) it can be a lot of fun. The greens were incredibly fast the day we were there and three-​putts were far too regular an occurence. My partner was 20 yds short of the green with his tee shot on 10. Crazy downhill fairway makes the hole driveable for monster hitters.
The clubhouse and facilities are top-​notch and brand new. The Mens locker room is well appointed with showers, lockers, TV room. We were able to use a credit card since neither of us is a member yet which is not possible somewhere like Olympic Club. Speaking of, I wore the shorts I wear at Olympic Club and the pro shop guy made me buy a new pair because mine had outside pockets. A little ridiculous given that they are golf shorts, but something to remember. Slacks or no-​pocket golf shorts are mandatory. (Funny note: everyone in the clubhouse was wearing a baseball cap indoors. This would NEVER fly at other country clubs. Not sure why it’s a pocket that makes everyone freak out.)
The membership fees are insanely low compared to the Peninsula. With Menlo at $ 150k and Sharon Heights around $ 250k, this place is a steal. It’s non-​equity, but quite honestly, I’d rather pay ¹⁄₁₀^th the price. I’m not sure if they would pass through assessments, but if they don’t all the more reason to join. If I didn’t live literally steps from Menlo Country Club, I would join Boulder Ridge in a heartbeat.

Went to a wedding rehearsal dinner here and it is gorgeous! I recommend anyone considering to have any kind of party to come here. The view from the balcony is breathtaking and the buffeted style dinner was 5 stars which I didn’t expect from a buffet. The chicken and capers were moist, the wild rice was full of flavor, the steamed veggies were crisp and everything else was up to par. Loved this place and I am now planning a party for no reason just to host it here.

Today I was lucky enough to FINALLY play Boulder Ridge. It’s a private course located in the Almaden Hills in San Jose. The course is VERY difficult. It is narrow, hilly and loaded with huge boulders lining the fairways on most of the holes.
The first hole put me through the ringer. A +4 on a par five. I lost a couple of balls and let my nervousness get the best of me. Thankfully I rebounded with a pretty decent round, despite the first hole disaster. The second hole is the signature par three — it is lined with many, many boulders and is very scenic. The 10^th hole is awesome! A sharp, narrow, drastic downhill dogleg left. It is 360 yards from the 135-​sloped white tees. A perfect tee shot can be quite rewarding.
Overall, a beautiful course. It is very difficult, and isn’t forgiving at all. Rookies shouldn’t even attempt this place. The wind will play a factor during the afternoons too, adding to the difficulty. It is unique in many ways. I have a hard time comparing it to other courses — but the best I can come up with is The Ranch meets The Bridges… while sprinkling in a few thousand tons of boulders. 5-​stars.
