Superior Color Lab is great. They really understand their customers and do a great job in taking care of them. I received my photos on schedule and I am really happy with the way they turned out.

Extremely helpful shop. I needed high quality prints made for an engineering project and they were able to not only meet the requirements but actually understand and help. They have also been great about meeting schedule and shipping prints when I was traveling and couldn’t pick up.

I had some prints developed for my upcoming wedding and had such a wonderful experience! The prints were very high quality and reasonably priced. The customer service was outstanding as they were friendly and worked with my tight timeline. I’ll definitely be back for my future print development needs!

Great small business, and the owner was very easy to work with. I needed a handful of photos printed and an 8×10 printed from a smaller photo. He did a great job with the 8×10 and gave me just what I had asked for. He also scanned a bunch of pictures for me. Everything was done by the next day which is great since that was a Friday, and the shop’s not open during the weekend. (I needed the 8×10 by Saturday.) Cost may be a little on the high end, but like other reviewers mentioned, you get great results and an easy person to deal with.

Fast and Easy.

You can’t find knowledge, attention to detail and quality end results like this in any of the typical photo labs. Even the «high end» ones. And when truly needed, he can turn a project around lightening fast! Just for kicks I tried the photo at a local typical photo outlet. I then took it to him and compared the two. There truly is just no comparison. Richard’s sharp eye and knowledge of color, as well as the products he chooses to use to complete the job, are top-​quality. If your photo is a work of art, or just a piece of personal art/​memorabilia close to your heart, trust Richard to provide the perfect photo developing.

I needed reprints of a photo of my father-​in-​law to enlarge for his funeral. The negatives were in medium format film which you can’t just take to Walgreens or CVS to develop. I found two color labs in San Jose via Unilocal and decided to bring the negative to this place. The owner did a great job of developing 8×10 portraits for the funeral display. The negative was scanned onto CD in case we’ll need more reprints in the future. Street parking in front of the store was plentiful. It was neat to see his collection of old cameras in the shop as well.

My dad — David Pegg — wanted to convert 8 boxes of slide pictures to a CD. He was reviewing the slides when his projector stopped working.
Dad contacted Richard Johns of Superior Color Lab, who had an old working projector and loaned it to Dad. He was able to finish his review and now we’re having the slides converted to CDs for the family. We’re very grateful to Richard Johns for his assistance.

Superior Color Lab may not be the cheapest, but the best never is. The large prints that he did for me were excellent in quality. When he found out I was going to travel with one of them he provided me a box and a roll to protect it. Superior service, unquestioning quality and he’s a nice guy too. This is the kind of service that I haven’t seen in years. I highly recommend Superior Color Lab for your photographic needs.

Very patient staff. I thought that they were going to load my digital copy of the photo on to their PC, take a print out and call it a day. But the gentleman at the desk went a step further to edit the photo to remove spots and give it some effects. He was also kind enough to try printing 3 – 4 copies just to attain perfection. The place is a little far off from where I live, but I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to get a quality print out of their treasured moments.

Since CVS and many other drugstores no longer develop prints from slides (or process 35 mm film, for that matter), I was in a quandry as what to do about getting prints from some slides. The guy at CVS said there was a place in Willow Glen that did superior work… I remembered Superior Color Labs from my previous work in the credit union industry.
Long story short: I brought both my slides and some photos to be restored from my dad’s military days in the 1950s. Richard took the time to explain his process: scan photos, bring images into Photoshop, clean up the photos and create new images. Less than a week later I was thrilled to be holding new prints along with a CD of all the new images. The work was quick and good. I showed my sister the new photos and she was thrilled! I highly recommend Superior Color Labs if you have need any serious photo work done in a friendly, efficient manner.

I had a very pleasant experience getting a photo enlarged at Superior Color Lab. Not only was the work professional, but the owner is very friendly and helpful in making decisions about the work.
Plus, when I accidently sat on the print and ruined it, he reprinted the photo for free… now that’s service unlike I usually expect.

I went to Superior Color Lab for archival prints, and I had a great experience for this place. A great little store, full of surprise, the owner is extremely patient and professional. Superior is the only place I get my photos printed (mostly film, some digital). I mainly have my Holga film developed and printed here. Prices are on the higher end, but you’ll get a very high quality product, and Richard may be willing to match prices elsewhere.
Another plus: He’s easy to work with, as I discovered while having a custom photographs enlarged here. The first one didn’t come out quite right, so he re-​printed it to get a darker contrast. I really appreciated his attention to detail, especially because this print was for my own customer.
Highly recommended — I wouldn’t go anywhere else. And the crazy hours don’t bother me (I think he’s open until 2:00 pm most days). If I ran my own business, I’d keep whatever hours I wanted, too. :)

Hmm… pretty high prices, but awesome quality. I think their hours are a little bit strange since people have supposedly gone to them during «open» hours and they are closed. That’s a little bit disappointing, but I’ve never had a problem with it.
