Stevens Creek Surplus Department Store

I have spent thousands of dollars there since the 1980’s. In the past, every time I went in there, I went in by myself. The staff had always been friendly with me and we used to joke around. We were never on a first-​name basis, but they recognized me from going in there so often. But, recently, I went in with my daughter. (I am White, my wife Black.) When I was there with my daughter, they started following us around the store! I couldn’t believe it. Then about 1 week after that, I went in by myself. Nobody followed me. Then the next time after that, I went back in with my daughter. And yes, they started following us around. I will never go back there again.

This store has it all! I can not even tell you how many times I visited this store in December for last minute Christmas shopping. I personally love this store for shopping for the men in my life. I come from a family of construction workers and let me tell you that this place has the greatest selection of work boots, carhartt, socks, t-​shirts, head rags, sweats and sweaters, beanies, and general accessories to keep those things in order. The people there too are so helpful and very kind. Don’t think its just a mans store either. They have womens clothing and childrens accessories too. They also have an impressive VANS and UGGS selection.

A staple surplus that’s been around for as long as I can remember. Great prices and privately owned. Huge selection and generally very helpful staff.

This place is awesome. I’ve been coming here for awhile, but my most recent visit reminded me to write a review. My boyfriend loves Ben Davis clothing & so do I! This is one of the few stores that carries their brand and in decent variety. Most of what you see online, you can find here, but you have to test your luck when finding your size. I paid a lot more on the BD website than I would’ve for the same exact things they sold here, but it was my fault for getting impatient with my Christmas shopping haha. I def should’ve come here first! Quality is always A1, it’s made tough so you won’t find any «soft» clothing here.
I was approached a couple times asking if I needed help and I really appreciated that. When paying, I asked if I could have a gift receipt, as they were Christmas presents. They said no and that the return/​exchange policy only gives me 15 days to come back. This was on 12/​4, and Christmas was way more than 15 days away. Stressing out, they worked with me & were able to write «gift» on the back of the receipt so that I would then have 15 days AFTER Christmas to come back (in case my boyfriend didn’t like it, didn’t fit it, or otherwise). Awesome of them to do that for me; I’ll keep coming back for sure!

Would not accept return of a product purchased the day before. Would not even accept an exchange. Sales people were helpful and friendly but their manager would not to anything to help the customer whatsoever. Avoid this place if you want a reliable customer experience.

If I could give this store 0 stars I would. I went in to exchange an item I had bought the day before, all I wanted was an exchange for another item. I was completely willing to pay extra. I had even spent 200 $ in there the day before. I was told I could come back in a year and a half if the equipment did not fit, so I didn’t think one day after would be an issue. Wrong, the manager would do nothing to help me saying there was no warranty on the boots and did not try to consider helping me at all. Since I need to buy equipment for my job I will now have to find a new store to spend my money at. They have lost someone who could have been a lifetime customer.

This has always been one of my favorite surplus stores. It’s really big and they have an excellent selection of everything like work boots, camping gear, knives, shoes, work clothes, etc.
I’ve never had an issue with their customer service and their employees are always friendly and helpful.

I can’t believe that this store doesn’t honor the military discount. And that they had the nerve to question which stores do honor the military. And asked me to name them, when I started to name them they ignored me. Sorry I won’t be back.

I love going to this store! Even if I’m not looking for anything in particular I always walk out with something. The staff is always very friendly!

Love this place. If only it were here in Mountain View. However, worth the drive for me rather than patronize the local surplus store only to be constantly deceived and lied to.
They have a great variety of items that vary in quality. New items are new, surplus is, well «surplus». You have to take what you get when it comes to surplus. Yet, I have found all their surplus gear to be in pretty good condition (at the least).
Prices are very reasonable.
Staff have always been extremely friendly, honest, and helpful.
Parking is easy, right out front.
BONUS: Grab a slice of pizza from «A Slice of New York», right next door. Great pizza!

I have been going here for years. One of the best surplus stores left. Most of their prices are within the range ow what you’d pay online, but I would gladly pay an extra few bucks to support a local business. Great selection of knives and outdoor clothing, as well as hats and boots.
The store staff are friendly and take care of their customers. Everyone was busy stocking shelves when I stopped in today, but three different workers asked me if I needed help finding something. Great service at a great store.

I suggest you Stay away from this store.
Let me start off by saying that I have bought thousands of dollars worth of merchandise within the past 15 years that I’ve been going here. I have never had a problem with the store or staff in the past.
Recently I went to the store to exchange a defective item I had the receipt and the tags and it was within the 15 days to exchange the merchandise. So I went in to go exchange the product the manager Mustafa told me that he is not willing to make the exchange. I asked him why he is not willing to make the exchange he said because the product is defective. I said okay then may I please return the product and get my money back for the product. He said no so I asked him again.
He said and I quote ‘listen here you American pig I am NOT going to return the defective item or exchange it for you“
So needless to say I will never step a foot inside that store again as long as he is working there and I’ll be sure to tell all of my business partners Associates friends and family to never go there until he is fired.
I suggest you all do the same.

Bought my ka-​bar here reasonable service and good products. I have purchased many camping supplies from them but it seems they are scaling down on the selection. I guess not as many people come in for such things anymore. Otherwise awesome store.

This place has everything I could be looking for anytime of the year.
There are times I need a sweater or hoodie, this place has it. If I need camping gear, guess what this place has it. When I needed boots for outdoor activities, I know this place has it.
I have been using this place for sometime now, and I continue to come back for several reasons, the staff is knowledgably and know what they are talking about, actually some of the staff I am sure has used the items themselves. they are friendly and helpful no matter what you are looking for. They can help guide you to the right items. This place has everything you would need, if you are thinking of an old Army/​Navy surplus store, well you would be very wrong. This place does have some used military gear, but they also have new clothing too, unlike the major chain. When the major chain store think it is summer in the middle of January by putting out their swimsuits, you are able to still find winter clothing here.
This is a place I highly recommend to other!!!

This location is AWESOME! I came in looking for steel toe boots and EMT pants and walked away with exactly what I wanted, in addition to a pair of comfy socks. Mike is incredibly helpful, not mention hilarious! Mimi was also very polite and helped me with my pants. Thank you so much! :)

Best place in the area to buy work boots. I came here a year ago to get work boots and the guy started throwing all kinds of boots my way based off of what I was looking for.
I just returned yesterday to get a new pair and the same guy was there. He said he had the same boots I bought last year at half off. I asked but some others first and tried a few on, but ultimately settled for the same pair.
Super knowledgeable staff here and would suggest getting your boots here. Prices are much better than Work World or Red Wings (which they also carry).
Only reason for not getting five stars is because I came in here another time for pants and didn’t get much service.

First they have a huge selection from military surplus to tactical brand names like Popper and 5.11 to work clothes like Carhart and Dickies. Next they have great entry level selections for tactical gear like belts, pouch add ons ect. Hats, tactical shirts work shirt, temperature appropriate gear, it’s all there. Full camping/​backpacking section with anything you need for the campsite or trail.
I gave it 5 stars though for the service. I had my 2 & 4 year old with me and every employee there said something nice to them. All the employees were helpful and not pushy. I will be coming back here again and again. Good service deserves to win my business.

By far the best customer service I’ve encountered at any retailer, ever.
My experience was similar to Colin C’s, with literally every single employee in the store coming up to me and asking if I needed help, had a question, etc. Usually I find this kind of treatment overbearing, but here it was just chill, friendly, and genuine.
Stevens Creek Surplus also boasts a massive inventory, so if you’re thinking about stopping by a surplus store, Stevens Creek is probably your best bet for one stop shopping. Not quite Macys size, but compared to most surplus stores, Unilocal wasn’t kidding when they named this location a ‘Department Store’.
Bf and I shop here particularly for their selection of work boots. He has a favorite pair of Timberlands that we can only seem to find at Stevens Creek. He also really digs their knife selection and array of Dickies clothing.
Tip: Be sure to check out the shoe sales table. On the day I came in, all red tagged shoes were half off and I scored a really nice pair of hiking boots for my guy for less than $ 50. Such a steal.
