Dr. Shah was truly amazing. Finally a doc that took his time asking me the right questions to understand my needs. He seemed genuine and honest. Since my insurance is pretty much the worst ever, his biller has been working diligently with me to make sure my insurance would cover the treatment and minimize my out of pocket expense. Some of the other doctors I went to just told me I’d have to pay cash. All of his staff seemed very well trained, and totally on top of it. I filled out my initial forms on an iPad, went through some quick questions with his nurses, and then got thorough time with the doctor to make sure this was the right treatment for me. The best part is he suggested several alternatives too, so it wasn’t like he was just trying to sell me the treatments he could offer. Great experience, and the results have been great.

Dr. Shah was simply awesome. My case was a complex one both clinically and because of my insurance. My physician told me Dr. Shah was the best in the area and the only one he would trust. Regarding my insurance… My insurance sucks. They’re always a pain to work with, but Dr. Shah’s biller was very hands on and got my treatment covered. I know she spent a lot of time for this, which few other offices are willing to do. All around great, and excellent outcome. A true happy ending. Thanks Dr Shah!!!

I was referred to Spark Sleep Solutions. DR. Shah and his staff where so nice and professional. He answered all my questions and gave me a lot of information about his services. I highly recommend spark sleep. I wouldn’t be able to sleep without them!!!

Waited over one hour for the doctor and paid $ 20 copayment. Talked to doctor H. Shah for 10 minutes then I had to leave for work. They never contacted me again with information I asked for. Now after soon 2 years they want $ 3,657 for medical services. For what medical services? Crazy people!

For about 8 months I was having issues with daytime sleepiness so I took a sleep study and found that I have mild sleep apnea. I tried the CPAP machine but thought it was too intrusive to continue for the rest of my life. I was referred to Dr. Shah and couldn’t be happier.
I was fitted with a mouth piece and began the process of adjusting it month by month to find the right fit. Dr. Shah helped walk me through everything that I was apprehensive about, mostly that the device would mess with my teeth/​bite. I have had zero issues with anything and my sleep has been amazing.
5 stars all around, especially for the incredibly sweet and professional staff he has (especially Juanita!).

Let me just say that Dr. Shah and his staff are really amazing. For years I suffered from mild sleep apnea. Even being mild, I still fell asleep watching TV, in movies, and in a long car ride. As the years passed and this condition went untreated, I not only felt myself becoming progressively more tired, but I got a diagnosis of hypothyroidism from my primary care. I did not want to take medication to treat this, but how I felt was a true measure of a slowing metabolism.
I randomly noticed an ad in a local news magazine about Dr. Shah and Sparks Sleep Solution. I was very skeptical because I had previously tried to improve my sleep apnea with another local doctor who had me undergo a very expensive and invasive nasal surgery that did absolutely nothing. Yet, I felt as though I had to at least try. I went to a free consultation and was very impressed with Dr. Shah’s manner and attentiveness.
I got my oral appliance and began wearing it. Almost a year had passed since my primary care physician diagnosed me on two separate blood tests with hypothyroidism (slow metabolism). Yet, I had never began any course of treatment. She wanted me to begin taking medication for this. Finally, a year later I went for an annual physical. I was depressed because I was sure she was going to finally write me a prescription for a medication to treat this condition. I went for another blood panel a week before my appointment. When I got there, she said she couldn’t explain how my results had changed so much. She said that according to my most recent blood panel, I no longer had hypothyroidism. I told her I changed some of my eating habits to become a vegetarian, and that I had seen Dr. Shah and had been wearing an oral appliance to treat my sleep apnea. She strongly felt that treating my sleep apnea must have contributed to this turn around.
I used to fall asleep within 30 minutes of watching any tv show or movie. Now I easily sit through any show, and have so much energy that I am up past midnight no problem. With my oral appliance in, I still get up early and am ready for the next day.
I usually don’t write reviews, but I felt I needed to with regard to Dr. Shah. Thanks again for making such a big difference.

I could not be happier with my Somnomed device. My snoring is completely gone, as well as my apnea symptoms. Dr. Shah and his staff were excellent. Communication and appointment reminders were great. I could not more highly recommend a sleep dentist.

Normally I’m not one to complain, but I was asked every time I was seen by Dr Shaw to share my experience on Unilocal.I wasn’t a person that normally spoke up, nor do I frequent these types of sites, but I feel obliged to share my experience plus I was promoted to by their office staff multiple times to share, so here it is.
I was referred by my primary physician. So I called to set up my daughter’s first appointment.
The lady that answered the phone was very nice and professional while scheduling my initial visit.
My first visit we sat there waiting for thirty-​five minutes, which was confusing considering I was on time and the office was empty. Once I was roomed while waiting for the doctor I over heard the staff talking about another patient in an unprofessional manner. I blew it off and figured it was okay because it seemed they needed to share. We’re human right? It seemed possibly something had transpired prior to my arrival, but none the less you should not discuss these sorts in the work place, while patients are ears length away, and during work hours. .right?
A few weeks later I had my second visit this time I didn’t wait as long, but I could hear Dr. Shaw going round and round arguing with this poor lady about what she owed and belittling her. I wanted to get up and leave, but there was so much chaos happening I just prayed for this to pass.
I was seen, got my daughter’s results and have not been back!
Let’s just say I will never go back there and if you do be prepared for some Jerry Springer action.

I work in the quality department of a large hospital, and so I’m really picky about who my family and friends choose for their doctors. After some extensive research I came across Dr. Shah and accompanied my cousin to several of her appointments. He was incredibly honest about the process and treatment, and based on his assessment, recommended that she see an ear nose throat physician instead, as she may not have been a good candidate for the oral appliance. Others had highly recommended his treatment, so my cousin went with his services anyways. There weren’t any billing issues as mentioned by other reviewers. It’s important to note that doctors only collect a very small fraction of what they bill to the insurance. The amount they bill pretty much has no purpose, and is usually a rate decided by the insurance company and not the doctor. It was a smooth process and have no complaints! And most importantly, the appliance ended up working incredibly well for my cousin!

I went to Dr. Shah’s office accompanying a family member, and I was amazed by how respectful and friendly all the staff was. Even though I wasn’t getting the treatment, they made sure to also explain everything thoroughly to me, so I could help my elderly family member. I wish all medical offices were this great. They were so good, they almost made me want to get an oral appliance as well!

I am a young guy that typically stays away from much «medical» treatment. However, as I recently started my own business, I have been feeling very tired throughout the day and have difficulty sleeping. I heard Dr. Shah’s ad on the radio, and since it was non-​invasive and covered by my insurance, I thought I would give his expertise a try. He and his staff literally took care of everything, including working with my medical insurance. The results are honestly amazing, and I wouldn’t sleep without the appliance. I feel much better throughout the day. I highly recommend it!!!

Very professional staff! If you are finding you are tired even after 8 – 10 hours of sleep, this is the place to come. I have sleep apnea and thought I would need a see pap machine and my husband was concerned about the noise. Through SPARK sleep Solutions we both are able to get a good night’s sleep!

I went to Dr by referral of a coworker and I’ve had nothing but nightmares since.
First off I wish I would have researched mouth pieces and the different options out there. This doctor offers the mouth piece that is an impression of your teeth, which is not good because your teeth shift over time and then after having a crown fixed and dental work their mouth piece devices they sell don’t fit to your mouth right anymore. And for the price he charges for this device you could but a new car!
He is a very nice doctor but not the smartest staff in the world because someone dropped the ball and I’m suffering because of it.
They somehow managed to bill me, but not my insurance, but didn’t actually bill me because they mailed it to the wrong address so I never knew I was being billed… I know wtf right?! now I have a delinquent report on my credit report that should not be there!

Dr Shah is not a trustworthy person. He seems greedy. He misleads you and then you end up with a large bill. DO NOT go to him. The staff seems nice, and the one star is for the nice staff, otherwise no stars. The doctor does not seem to be a person of his words… dont trust him.

I would highly recommend Dr. Shah and his professional staff to help with sleep related issues. Dr. Shah is knowledgeable, thorough, and patient. He doesn’t push you into anything and works through your sleep issue with you for a plan that bests suits you and your lifestyle. I have never before dealt with such pleasant and professional staff. They genuinely care and work through the scheduling, billing, and office visit adjustments with such ease and kindness.
I am so pleased with my mouth piece and was thrilled when my second sleep study showed significant improvement. I sleep better and more regularly now which is important to my overall health and well being.
Thank you Dr. Shah and your entire team! I have already recommended friends to you and will continue to share my experience to get the word out about alternative sleep solutions.

I recently had an appointment on Thursday with Dr. Shahs office at their Fremont location and the office was easy to find and once I had found the office his staff greeted me promptly and showed me how to use this ipad. They were very helpful from start to finish. It seemed as though everything was very organized from scheduling my appointment and getting my insurance information and paperwork ahead of time from my other doctors. I loved the text and emails I had gotten beforehand because that was just great for my busy work schedule. I can’t wait to get this oral piece to help me sleep and not keep my husband awake! See you all in a few weeks when my device is ready!

First of all, let me say, that I love Dr. Shah and his staff. All very kind and caring. Dr. Shah has to wear one of these sleep apnea dental appliances himself, so he answered all my questions from a wearer’s point of view as well as the medical details. That was very helpful to me.
I’ve worn my appliance for a little over two weeks now, and just went in yesterday for my first follow up. I’m still wearing my cpap with it during the adjustment phase, until my next sleep study.
My experience so far:
1. I have not had any problems wearing the device. No soreness, or pain. However, I do drool more in my sleep. No big deal.
2. I have TMJ… Dr said the device is good to help that. He was so right! My jaw feels so much better when I wake up.
3. I’ve always had ear trouble. Ear infections were a norm when I was a child. I’m 57. They didn’t do tubes in the ears when I was a kid… As an adult, my ear canals feel clogged and pressured most of the time. Here’s what I didn’t expect, my ears are better while using the appliance!!! Even my sinuses feel clearer than normal when I wake up. And no headache! I’ve tested my theory a couple of times. Like, last night. I slept with cpap only. No appliance. This morning, I woke up with cloggy ears and sinuses. And a headache.
What I’m saying is that, when I wear it, I’m feeling like this devise actually lines up my anatomy better and it makes me feel better in general when I wake up than just cpap alone.
4. I wanted this device for when I travel, especially when going somewhere with different plugs.
5. We are a scuba diving family. We are going diving in Hawaii next week. 14 dives in 5 days. I’m always nervous about clearing my ears. I can’t wait to see how much better my ears are when diving.
All in all, I’m loving my appliance! I told the Dr yesterday that when I was driving to my appt that it dawned on me that I’m feeling great these days!

Dr. Shah is awesome! I love his office and his staff. They were incredibly helpful. Easy to schedule appointments, and both the doctor and staff were very easy to communicate with. The staff was very accomodating to me, and offered me an apoointment at either of his 3 offices. I went to what I think is his main office, which was very nice– more than what I expect from the typical doctor’s office!
Dr. Shah advised me that I wouldn’t be a good candidate for this treatment, and educated me on a few alternative options to follow up with my physician. Certainly appreciate his experience and honesty.

Every time I hear sleep solutions commercial on krty radio i want to puke!
I want to share my unfortunate experience with this doctor that lacks empathy and just did not have a ounce of care in the world for me!
I have had a sleep disorder for several years. Sleeping with a cpap machine has been very difficult over the years. I was referred to Dr Shaw, by a doctor that I saw one time. They are college buddies.
Dr. Shaw is a new doctor that specializea in oral appliances that help you sleep. He actually met me at this doctor that refereed me office for my first appointment. I then scheduled appointment follow up appointments at his office on the east side.
I was so happy that he took medicare because I had a prescription for about two years but could never find a doctor that took medicare.
When we talked he said that i didn’t have to pay the twenty percent because i was going to have my son be fitted for a oral device though his awesome insurance through his father’s plan.
This was a huge relief, but once i received the medicare statement i almost had a stoke!
He billed medicare $ 8000! I have called many many other doctors before meeting Dr. Shaw and the price range was $ 2000-​$ 3000. I would not have chosen him because his prices are so much higher than any other orthodontist in California! BUT he was the only one that took medicare.
Plus he was sweet as pie when we first met.
The way it works is… you go in and have a custom mold made and then you go back in to see the doctor to get your custom mold then you come back every you know once a month or every couple weeks to get the device adjusted so that it keeps separating your jaw more and more over the month basically you should be seen 10 to 12 times in one year to monitor adjust and check up on how your sleep is going and so forth.
Because I have health problems and sinus infection and I was sick for quite a few months with bronchitis and asthma and pneumonia I didn’t see Dr Shah for a few months.
I also want to note… he seems to have a hard time keeping staff because everytime I call to follow up and find out if my childs insurance company had responded to his device being authorized with the insurance request to have my sons oral device made I would talk to somebody new every single time and have to start completely over giving info and explaining why I was calling and then to never get a response back– it was very frustrating!
soooo when I was feeling better I made an appointment I showed up to my appointment and when he came in the room he told me that he was not going to be following up with my mouth device anymore because i had not came in a few months. basically I was on my own. He didn’t care to hear my situation. I was shocked.
he had his assistant give me the little device adjustment little key thing and basically wanted me to adjust my device for the duration of the rest of my visits after only seeing him 3 times. The way it works technically I should have been monitored six to eight more times at least.
but because he had already got paid he didn’t have to follow up with me he already got his money, which by the way was NOT the eight thousand dollars he attempted to bill my INS for, thank God!
I would not refer anyone to this doctor I would not want them to go through the rejection and the feeling like this doctor doesn’t give a crap about them as a person, much less disregarding the care for his patient!
He is very business like– but lacks empathy or special care for his patience.
Oh and the person that posted on here a good review about him a few hours ago… please… what patients knows what school a doctor graduated from?!
Dr Shaw you really shouldn’t be posting good reviews about yourself because you are a new doctor with great advertising skills but you lack empathy and you don’t care about your patients!
I want everyone to know about the poor treatment you gave me and my child! So that they don’t go through this hell!
oh one other thing… I can’t even use the device he made because it keeps giving me pain and swollen blisters inside my mouth.
I wish I knew how to report him to some medical board.

I was recommended to Spark by my sleep dr. My sleep apnea isnt bad enough for a CPAP mach. I met Dr Shah and he was knowledgeable and funny. The appliance has cured my sleep apnea and I am more rested than I have been in several yrs. Has also lessened my hot flash duration, improved my sleep at nite, and improved my sleepiness during the day.
The only negative was the office support staff who got me confused with another patient with the same first name. And the DR never saw me for the last appt, instead went into a staff mtg. It was like I didnt exist.
