Christine is so annoying. She friended me on linked in and I didn’t realize it was a recruiter so I accepted. She then messages me and I tell her i’m not interested. She then calls the company I am currently employed at and 4 times before they put her through. She says she is following up on our conversation online — «The one where I told you I’m not interested?» I responded. I asked her not to call me anymore. Well that worked for about 3 weeks when she calls my company again — our receptionist tells her I’m not interested but she still insists on leaving me a voicemail stating we worked together in the past and she would like to speak with me about my position. Clearly the recruiters here are out of touch vultures with no respect for boundaries. I don’t know how many times I need to tell her I’m not interested before she stops calling, harassing me online, and harassing my co-​workers. Beware of alerting this agency to your existence.

As a follow up to this review. I talked to a VP at Robert Half. I told them my story and my issues. I mentioned to them that most likely this will «fall by the bay» and be forgotten.
She ensured me that it wouldn’t be and she’s following up on it. This was over a week ago.
I haven’t yet heard back from her and I’m still looking for employment.
This agency is a complete failure. No follow up at all from upper management, all the way down to the front line employee.

Very much underwhelmed, no consistency, no follow through or attempt to see what my status was or if I was still looking. I did better with LinkedIn by myself

Applied for a position listed online. Had a recruiter call me 30 minutes later about two other opportunities that I did not have the qualifications for. Never heard from anyone after that. Went to update my info on their site. Tried to have my username sent to me. If you click on either ‘forgot username’ or ‘forgot password’, it sends you to the reset password page. After entering a new password, all I ever get is, «An error happened while resetting your password. Please try again later.» Sent an email requesting help. No response. As far as I’m concerned, RHT is just a bunch of incompetent sales people. Run away!

I’ve been in contact with a few recruiters at Robert Half for almost a year now. If you haven’t used a recruiting agency before you will learn a lot in the first few months.
Some things that I noticed were that they will often invite you in for an initial interview. I say often because there are many recruiters and branches connected to this location/​division. I thought that the interview was simple, it is for a broad idea of your abilities and career. They don’t usually have a specific job in mind for you at this point from what I gathered. They try to understand what you want (hint: be prepared to explicitly say what you want) and then you’ll probably leave their nice office feeling like you wish you got more hints at what’s to come. You’ll probably be asked to take some computer assessments and don’t forget to thank whoever you met with afterwards!
From this point on, Robert Half recruiters can consider you for a bunch of roles and trust me, I think Robert Half has a huge share of roles. This is why I think that Robert Half is the best recruiting firm out here and I think that there are a lot of recruiters who help you get a job through Robert Half.

…but Estelle is one of the best recruiters who I’ve ever worked with. I’ve spoken with about 10 Robert Half recruiters and I’ve spoken with about 15 recruiters from outside of Robert Half. Estelle is someone who’s an excellent communicator, who’s extremely knowledgable about the positions/​industries that she’s spoken with me about and she’s easy to get ahold of over the phone. I’ve also worked with more great reciters like Marisela and Annie (not from the Technology group of Robert Half though).
In conclusion, for all of my friends looking for a job in San Jose I point them to Robert Half because I think that their large network sets them above other firms.

A company that has no clue about how to do their job. They call people with over 20 yr in Sr. positions in the industry for jobs of 20 $/​hr and they argue this is the market rate. All these under the circumstances that everyone else is starting from 85 $/​hr. They never provide feedback; all in all dealing with RH is a complete waste of time regardless of your experience level. I am 100% positive their management is as incompetent as their staff otherwise they wouldn’t hire incompetents… If you value your time hang up the phone the second you hear who’s calling.

They cannot make $ placing people in jobs due to their gordian knot of bureaucratic procedures, so they force the online applicant through pages of 3^rd party «partnered» spam ads to arrive at their website listing. And good luck when you get there, their software is a nightmare. And they demand your complaince by wanting your SSN before allowing your required in-​person interview to proceed, they are outrageously unprofessional!
Stay away from these bozos like they’re an airborne virus!

I’ve had two experiences with Robert Half and both in person interviews were good, but the end result was ABYSMAL.
The first interview was at their San Jose, Ca office in 2009, and it was a total bait-​and-​switch. I applied for a 6 month contract with Cisco, and they called me in for an interview and offered me a 2-​week contract with a small business. I politely told him that I wasn’t going to quit my full-​time job with benefits for a 2 week contract, but I would consider a 3-​month contract to hire position if it was right. He said ok, and called me back a couple days later with another position, a 3-​month contract. The only issue I had with it was that it was too far away, and he acted like he had offered me hundreds of offers and I turned them all down. I immediately got a bad taste in my mouth about this company from that interview.
The second interview was last month in the Oakland, Ca office with a different recruiter. I told her that I had a bad experience with the previous recruiter and she was very apologetic about my experience. During the interview, she was exceptional. She was nice, professional, and explained a lot more about the whole recruitment process that the previous man. I left the interview feeling very good. When I got home, I did everything she asked me to do during the interview, including making a few changes to my resume and adding her on Linkedin. I e-​mailed her my updated resume and asked for her input. I didn’t hear back from her for almost a month. In fact, she never responded to my e-​mails. It was only when I e-​mailed one of her bosses that she finally got back to me. She claims she never got my e-​mail, so I sent it to her again. Still no reply. I sent her another message via Linkedin yesterday, still no reply. I refuse to believe that they are just too busy to check messages and e-​mails. The least they could do is e-​mail me back with some BS and say that they are hard at work checking out clients for me, but I can’t even get that.
I’m gonna keep my eyes and ears open for them, but I’m not holding my breathe. So far, Robert Half is 0 – 2 in my book.

I had a very different experience that the previous reviewer. I went into the branch, was interviewed by several people for possible temp work and permanent placing. I had to take some skills tests and then they said they would follow up with me and they did! I have been working for them for the last 6 months and couldn’t be more appreciative to have a job in this tough economy. Thanks Robert Half.

Missed scheduled calls and in-​person meetings. Very unprofessional.

Having just moved to CA, I was in strong need of position out here so I tried using Robert Half Technology. I have heard that this place is terrible (and I also hate how they FLOOD the online job boards) but I needed something quick so I called. The receptionist transferred me to a woman who was away from her desk at 2:00pm on a Monday so I left a detailed voicemail with instructions to get back to me. No one called back for days. I also sent them an email with my background, career goals, and contact information. No replies yet. How in the world do you run a business like this where your clients are cast aside completely?

One of the worse if not the worse agencies out there. You come to the office and speak with someone and told about a position and they never get back to you. I think I have visited every RHI Agency in The Bay Area and I’ve never got an interview or job.
Don’t waste your time using these guys.

I worked for Office Team in San Mateo and had a much much much better experience than I did with the San Jose office. They placed me on a job with a company who treated their employees very poorly. They had 3 – 4 other temps there, and we were all paid drastically different rates. I was doing more work than my colleagues, and when I asked about a pay raise, they told me it was out of the question. When I brought up the issue about different pay rates, Robert (the recruiter) scolded me for discussing my pay with my colleagues. It wasn’t until I threatened to quit that they decided to go ahead and approve a pay raise, but it was too little too late, as I received a permanent offer from a better company. When I gave them notice, they told me to just make that my last day, and didn’t inform me when the agency I was working for asked me to complete the week. They told the client I was coming in, but told me they didn’t want me back, so I ended up looking bad to their client (which is fine because their client was horrible, too).
I wouldn’t recommend Robert Half to anyone, especially this office. They treat their temps like they’re useless, and their lack of communication is astonishing. Try Apple One. I hear they’re awesome.

I have to say that the recruiters at Robert Half are sharp, savvy and hard-​working.
I was placed in my current (dream!) job by two of them, and I can’t praise them highly enough! They interviewed me extensively to find out what kind of place I wanted to be at, what was important to me, and what my skillset was. Then they submitted me ONLY to places that matched me — and very quickly I was in the door at a company where I’m deleriously happy.
I’ve recommended them to several of my friends, and everyone who has talked to them has good things to say.
The only thing I’d improve is that their application system is a little bit outdated — you have to fill stuff out online and in person, and often it’s the same info. But I’m a UI designer; I think about those things. :D

Not the greatest staffing agency I have worked with.
They got me a contract to hire job at some company which had a super high turnover rate. I worked for the place for a month and a half and was let go for stuff beyond my control.
Now I get emails from RHT recruiters asking me for my updated resume and I tell them I’m interested in a permanent job and then that keeps them off my back for a few months.
Seriously, thumbs down for mostly impersonal recruiters that don’t really care about what kind of job they get you but just getting you a job so they can make money.
