Reco Smog Test Only

Don’t bring your vehicle here. He will over charge you whatever he wants and there is a much cheaper station just down the street called MT SMOG. $ 40 after online coupon.
I brought a few of my vehicles before because its nearby where i live. The last time I came, I brought my rv and he charged me $ 90. Ok, I don’t know what the going rate was, I didn’t care to look into at the time, and figured it was a normal price because I know that older vehicles and rv’s are different/​harder to smog.
3 months later I referred a man who bought that rv from me to go to that smog station. he brought that same rv back and charged him $ 75.
Not even a week later, I brought a minivan with 78k miles on it, like brand new, passed with flying colors six months ago here and he tried to charge me $ 75. Now, I know that’s not right so I got the receipt out from the last smog at a different station and they charged $ 48. So, I tried to negotiate with him, but he tries hustling me with excuses and tells me business is slow and goes down to $ 60. Basically, I was about to get overcharged because business is slow today? Awesome.
So, I left and looked up the cheapest smog station on google and found one just down the street called MT SMOG that charges $ 40 bucks after online coupon. Now, I will refer people to this smog station instead of reco, like I used to.
Now I see why business is slow o er there at reco. Because he overcharges and there’s a cheaper one down the street. Better switch up your prices and sales tactics buddy and remember that you can’t hustle a hustler.

Reco smogs shop is truly a gem, a great little shop and an genuinely friendly owner. Fast, low cost, friendly, professional but personable. This is the type of place you would insist your mom or little old aunt go to for a smog test, because you know they would be taken care of properly.
Service Quality: Excellent.
Very professional. The owner seems to take his professionalism seriously, for instance he posted a news article on his wall about fraudulent smog testing shops in the area that were caught in sting operations. He explained everything to me and made sure I had no questions.

Speed: Excellent.
I had two people ahead of me when I came in, and was still out of his office in 30 minutes.
Friendliness: Excellent.
The owner really seems to enjoy getting to know his customers, he is not shy with compliments, he’s genuinely a friendly and honest person.
The owner has does a great job making customers feel welcome and comfortable. Considering its such a small shop with decent prices, I was surprised at how nice, clean and friendly his waiting room was. He also had some posters about green environmentally friendly technologies. I loved his reading materials (lots of National Geographic and other science magazines). I enjoyed a nice iced soda on the house.
Location: Great! Easy access to 101 and tully road.
Overall: Excellent service, great experience, friendly and professional, decent cost, what else can I say? I highly recommend this place.

This guys suck. I called to see if they could run a scan check for a service engine light. I willing to pay but the guy there, Saleem Khan said to go and that he would do it for free. When I was there he gave a whole bunch of shit and gave a card for the Firestone place over 1895 Tully Rd. He said he called and I was going to be checked for free again. When I showed up at the Firestone place they wanted 180 just to do the scan. I got a scanned for 80 and it is directly connected to my iPhone. This guys just want to get business for the Firestone and fed me a lot of sheet. Not recommend.

I used to come here to have smog done on my 3 cars for about 7 years or longer. Saleem is the owner (I think) and can do the smog pretty quick but he kept on raising the price on me every time I needed a smog. I’ve been his customer for quite sometime and when I told him that some other shop have a lower price then told me to go somewhere else. Well, I decided to do that and super glad that I did. I was shocked that he was actually charging me $ 25-​$ 30 more compared to the other shop. I trusted him and didn’t bother to shop around so thanks on your suggestion to go somewhere else. Never coming back here ever again!

I bought a car from New York and went here to get my BMW smogged. It failed the first time since the seller changed the exhaust so I swapped in the OEM cat/​exhaust that night. I came back the next day for the free re-​test and he gave me some excuse that the machine was down, although I seen him do other cars. He then starts questioning if I work for the state, etc. He must be doing something shady to even be worried. Thanks for wasting my time!
Avoid this SHADY place. I took my business to Green Star Smog on keyes. They have a Unilocal going on right now too!

10 to 15 min smog can’t get no better then that!!! I’m on a tight schedule today… I’m talking like frog ass hole tight schedule lol 65 $ total to smog a honda 1998 honda civic

When I first started driving; I was fortunate enough to have a father that cared enough to take of all of the maintenance work on my old hoopty. Then i decided to move to California for college and claim my independence! (not such a bright idea haha)
Over the years i learned 3 important rules in order to protect yourself and your wallet!
1. Shop around to get an idea how much something cost and also to get the best price
2. Do not let anyone «up-​sale» you, get a second opinion before the mechanics scare you into doing a bunch of work on your car that you do not need
3. ASK FOR THE PRICE FIRST! (Muy importante!!!)
Unfortunately I learned some of these lessons the hard way at Reco Smog. Out of a suggestion of my neighbor (who drove a 5 –7 yr old minivan and paid 50 BTW) I went there the day and almost choked on my spit when I got the 120.00 dollar bill!!! It might not seem a lot to some people but to a broke college student it was outrageous. Obviously I didn’t do rule number one and most importantly rule number three ASK FOR THE PRICE FIRST! I immediately confronted the man about my bill, my neighbor came here before and only paid 50 bucks; I on the other hand had a much smaller sedan that was about the same amount of year if not less. but all he did was give me some mumbo jumbo justifying it but «graciously» knocked off 20 bucks since i came there on referral. I had no choice but to pay since he had already done the work… so i paid and left practically in the verge of tear.
Lesson learned girls; appreciate your pops and remember the three rules to protect your wallets

Mohammed is a great guy! After searching all over and being turned away from other places, I found Reco Smog. I called in and asked what the wait time was. He asked me what time I would arrive and I said in 10min. He said he’d hold my spot. Nice! When I arrived there were multiple cars in line waiting. He had waited for me and had the others waiting. Sheesh!
There were a few issues with my car. Not on his side but the car’s side. The Benz had some issues registering and thankfully it passed. Weird that a 2006 Mercedes would had problems passing. Anyway, good job on that! I was charged $ 70 (which is a lot) but I needed it done asap. Highly recommend. You will get great customer service.

Let’s face it. Smog checks aren’t on the top of our to do list. They come every two years, and it’s a pain in the butt to make time for it. I was supposed to get it done by yesterday. Whoops.
So today, I resolved myself to getting it done while I was at work because there was a place near my work. Unfortunately, they couldn’t do it for whatever reason and referred me over to this place. I wanted to go home because I had a long shift at work, but decided to suck up it up and get it done.
The employees were all really friendly. The guy I talked to on the phone was really cool. He told me that since it was a referral from the other place, I could just drive right over. He likes to talk, but not in an annoying this guy needs to shut up kind of way. It was quite amusing. Another guy told me I had a nail in my tire. =.= Which was nice, because I didn’t and wouldn’t have noticed.
The place looks kind of home-​y. I dread sitting in sparse office like waiting areas. It’s just unpleasant. So it was a nice change of pace to sit in a place that felt like your own garage (they had sofas, chairs, and fans) and just chill until my smog check was done. The guy even turned on the fan for me because he said he wanted me to be comfortable.
The wait time wasn’t too bad. It was definitely under an hour.
Pricing was all right. It was 75 altogether. It wasn’t cheap but it wasn’t super expensive, and for the circumstances, I didn’t mind paying because I just wanted it done. It was a relatively painless process considering all my past experiences with smog checks. I wouldn’t mind going here again if I had to a smog check last minute.

My registration was 1 day away from being due and I needed to get a smog check fast. So I got off the 101 and visited the first 3 smog check areas I could see. I finally decided on this one because the owner had the BIGGEST smile on his face that he just made my day.
POSITIVES:
— NICEST owner possible, older middle eastern man with a big smile. Totally made conversation as well as giving me random vehicle upkeep tips as apparently, I am the «awesome» with vehicles (I know nothing about cars, but give me a computer and watch me zoom).
— There are plenty of comfy seats to sit and wait
— The owner & worker offer you a drink (water or soda, etc)
— They work QUICK, fast smog check I’d ever had
— Owner will CHECK in his system to make sure you have a smog check due, or he will tell you to not waste your money (that’s pretty commendable and good business)
NEGATIVES:
— The price was the same as the other two places I checked =/​ (but I can’t really fault him for that)
