Planet Beach San Jose closed without notice after charging my card 492.00.
Then this company charged my card for the Novato location that is 2 hours from my home and I have never been there. This company is unethical and can charge you card at any location in your network. Check your accounts. Do not trust Planet Beach. Their Corporate Office does not back their customers but hides from them. They need to do the right thing and reimburse me. Karma will get Marlene.

This review is for services in February. I got a groupon and started going for the red light therapy which was my service I go for. It did show great results. I was scheduled on a Sunday and when I got there is was closed. I wasted my time and noticed other people were looking to get in too. After I had to follow up they told me there was a schedule conflict. I’m glad I never got a membership but will miss the red light therapy.
The customer service was not the best.

Closed without notice! I am enrolled as a regular customer and had been for five years and after trying to call without success, drove over to find that they have closed their doors without notice, without refunding fees, not even a message on the answering machine. Contact your bank and cancel your membership if you have one.

I am so disappointed by management here, please note planet beach is a franchise. I have been a loyal customer for 7 years to this location specifically, I’ve never had anything bad to say about them, I always called ahead for my appointments, was hardly ever late (if I was they showed no sign of it being a big deal and got me in right away), was always very polite to the girls because they always went above and beyond for their customer care! Liz and Rochelle specifically. I cannot believe management threatened to not pay their employees, if I were them I would not show up to work either, however– an email (at the very least) explaining what transitions were conspiring or taking place would be nice. I don’t want to cancel my membership by any means but if I can’t get an apt at the location I’ve grown to know and love I’m forced to do so. Which I’m sure will result in a cancellation fee, I doubt they have a loyalty program. Anyways again very very disappointed that management let things get to the way they are, people go out of their way to come here not to mention shell out close to $ 100 a month and this is the sign off we all get. Just ridiculous, especially since your employees run the whole business part of it. I hope this locations owner can understand that you can’t run a business without treating your employees fairly, after all it is a law. Bad business is bad business.

I am so disappointed. I signed up for a membership on March 8^th and I went once — I called last week on Wednesday to schedule appointment for services and I showed up Thursday for my services to find that they were closed. I am so pissed that they couldn’t even give customers any notice. Unprofessional. I had to call the location in Milpitas to find out. Not only do I have to drive further to use my membership but my question is as a business owner that charges outrageous amounts of money they don’t have the courtesy to advise customers of another location. I hope that who ever the manager is never runs another business again because they obviously aren’t built for business managment!

It’s kinda sad that they go out of business and the staff knows it but still schedules you a apt to tan how shady is that and you go and no one is there ! They should pay for what they have done ! Now to find a new place thanks to you marlene honesty isn’t your best in been professional owner

So i have been wanting to write this review for the longest time! I cant express how grateful i am for finding this place and for all the girls that work here ESP rochelle jessica lindsay elise alisa and neone else i may have missed!
I came in a few months ago suffering from my chronic lyme disease and would have no joke probably died if it was not for their infrared sauna and red light therapy machines! It has been over three months and i am symptom free with incredible skin! The lesions from lyme made it impossible for me to leave the house! On top of those treatments they of course have an amazing massage bed! Being the fAbulous gay persian that i am, i today have an incredible tan! If you cant tone it, tan it at planet beach! Oh in addition to the persian thing most of us are broke and just look balling so i was ecstatic to find out that with a monthly membership of under 90 bucks or maybe its 80… You can do everything unlimited every day (check with ur doctors and dont die in the treatment beds thx). Most spas charge between $ 30 to $ 45 per infrared sauna session! Ive lost 15 pounds and feel damn incredible! An infrared sauna is not like a regular sauna… it is good for detoxing off drugs to literally cancer!!! Look it up! But again thanks to everyone who works there and for all you have done for me and for putting up with my loud self! Try the hydration and redlight everyone! New members get a free day there to try whatever i believe! Try it out!

They have the best staff! All the girls are friendly & they even allow us to bring kids & wait in the lobby while we do our treatments. They are very accommodating & I recommend this place to the entire fam!

Staff has bad attitude, mostly unprofessional. Appointments are useless, and the apology is insincere. We are definitely not raving fans. We enjoyed Australian tan much better.

I’ve been going to Planet Beach (PB) since 2007. After reading the other reviews reviews, I decided to post this review and state my experience after years of being a customer that goes to PB 3 – 4 times per month:
1) The facility is consistently clean and comfortable.
2) The staff are always courteous and professional.
3) Even when I walk in, they manage to fit me into the schedule. I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes.
4) I’ve seen customers come in and be down right rude to the ladies working in the spa for no reason I can figure out, yet they have remained professional! I’ve never heard any PB employee say anything negative about anyone else.
I’ll also add, my wife is a member, and my eldest daughter is now a member too. We have no complaints.
In summary, I highly recommend PB. I was there last Sunday and I’ll be there again this weekend. I also know they have specials that allow you to try the spa services for very reasonable prices, so don’t take my word for it, go try for yourself.

Very nice staff. Made the paperwork easy. I went for a mystic spray tan and was very happy they made sure I knew what to expect and gave me full instruction before having me enter the the room. Very nice. Would recommend this place. Also helped me pick the right tan color for me.

Planet Beach
It was in researching red light that I discovered Planet Beach — I know, I know, not a name that would lead you to think «skin care.» I never would have found it had I not been on the hunt for affordable red light.
The name «Planet Beach» hails from its days as a tanning salon, but what was once oriented solely towards tanning has now become a skin care salon. You can still go there for tanning, if you’d like, but now that’s only one service of many. Now you’ll find massage beds, even a special chiropractic variety; you’ll find steamy hydration beds, refreshing oxygen therapy, an intensely soothing far-​infrared sauna (great for melting away aches and pains); and you’ll find two types of red light devices. One for your face, and one for your entire body.
I go mainly for the red light. For the cost of one session of red light at a standard medi-​spa or dermatologist’s office, I can do a whole month of red light at Planet Beach. It’s insane. And that’s just the red light for the face. I can’t find the whole-​body red light anywhere else. So let’s amend that equation: for the cost of one red light treatment for the face elsewhere, I can do an entire month of face and body at Planet Beach.
So what’s the deal, why is it so much more affordable? Planet Beach works by being run primarily as a self-​service spa. The skin care attendants will introduce you to the equipment and demonstrate how to work it, but once you’re oriented to the process, when you come in for your appointments, you head off to the individual rooms and handle the rest yourself. You get into the (preheated) sauna and make any further adjustments yourself. You climb into red light bed yourself. You sit down and turn on the red light facial yourself. There’s nothing to it. Because everything there is safe, there’s no need for further monitoring. (Hey, I can sit in a chair and press a button.) Because it’s self-​service, it’s less expensive to run, and those savings get passed on to consumers.
Planet Beach El Paseo
I love this Planet Beach! Everyone here is friendly and welcoming, knowledgeable about the services, ready to assist. This Planet Beach has all the prime features: the hydration bed, the infrared sauna, the red light bed, the red light facial, the massage chair, and of course (for those of you who do these) both the sunless tanning and the UV tanning beds.
The sauna at El Paseo gets hot, hot, hot. A half an hour in this sauna and you feel completely rejuvenated and refreshed. The far-​infrared heat warms completely and thoroughly, and — unlike traditional saunas — without being the least bit drying. On the contrary, this sauna hydrates. And because the heat is generated by energy in this particular range (the high end of infrared) of the electro-​magnetic spectrum, you’ll feel afterwards all the energy and well-​being of having spent the afternoon at the beach, without any damaging UV exposure. The far-​infrared sauna takes the warming and invigorating qualities of the sun, and filters out the harm. After the red light, I always feel energized and relaxed. After the sauna and then the red light, I feel like I’ve been on vacation. It’s heavenly.
I have always found everything at this Planet Beach tidy and well-​managed. The process runs smoothly; the atmosphere is friendly; the red light devices are state-​of-​the-​art. And the location is great. Situated in one half of an extensive mall, this Planet Beach offers ready access to restaurants and cafes (I particularly like Willow Street Café), both fine and bargain department store shopping, and the AMC 14 movie theatre. I could spend the whole day here.
One caveat: this Planet Beach is pop-​u-​lar, so they can get crazy-​busy at lunchtime, in the evenings, and on weekends. For those prime spots, you’ll have a better shot at the times you want if you call in your appointment a couple of days (or more) ahead of time. If you have the luxury of being able to schedule weekday mornings or afternoons, you’ll often be able to get the times you want even if you call the same day. (Though, if you can, calling in a little ahead of time is always good.)
This is a sweet Planet Beach. I’ve been coming here for years. If you live or work in the area, with this location nearby, I envy you.

I have no affiliation with any Planet Beach. So why do I care so? For two reasons, one altruistic and the other not so. First, I feel like I have stumbled onto gold. And I’d like everyone — particularly anyone in their mid-​30s on up – to know about red light therapy. It’s simple, it’s natural, it works wonders, and at Planet Beach it’s actually affordable. Second, I want to see Planet Beach continue to do well, and I want to see more locations opening up around the country. I’m a passport member, so the more Planet Beaches there are, the more opportunity I have, even when I’m out of town, to keep up my red light routine. And that’s very good news. It could be good news for all of us.

A few of the front desk staff girls could use a lesson in customer service — they seem annoyed about helping customers or booking appointments. Speaking of — booking appointments is a bit of a task! I signed up for a spa package for $ 80/​mo. for all services, and in the last 3 months have only been able to get in for 4 services. I had to cancel my membership because the deal wasn’t turning out as good as it sounded. If they could improve their guest relations and availability it would be a better review :(

Since I’m back in the bay area, I have become a member and am loving it.
It’s 80 bucks a month for a membership and I was very hesitant about joining at first (after reading horrible cancellation stories) but decided to try it. So far everything has been going smoothly.
One of my favorite girls here is Lindsay. She is super sweet and always asks me what music I want :)
TIPS:
Call ahead and ask them to squeeze you into all the available services.
Many tanning beds available — I’m not picky and they all seem to do a good job once you’ve built your base.
I think it’s worth the monthly fee because you can be assured you can always drop in and get a quick tan without paying 15 a pop. It’s unlimited along with all the other services — including mystical tan, lumiere light therapy/​facial, hydromassage, hydrotherapy.

This place’s spa service is some kind of joke. The «facials,» «massages», etc, it’s all «DIY» machines and totally cheap and fake. I would be willing to look beyond the shoddy products except that the worst part of this place is actually the customer service. The front desk is run by bratty girls who treat you like dirt. The openly complained about other customers, the owners, the spa problems, etc, all while customers were waiting right in front of them in the lobby. I felt really embarrassed the whole time.
In short, DON’T buy a daily deal from Groupon, Living Social, etc, for this place, no matter how good a deal it seems to be! And of course, I would never actually pay full price. The whole experience was truly traumatizing. I didn’t even finish my «consultation;» I walked out, horrified. Avoid Planet Spa at all costs!

Came here with a Living Social Coupon. I’ve never been to one of these Planet Beach Contempo Spas so I didn’t know what to expect. My coupon consisted of three visits of four sessions:
1) Hydro-​therma fusion:
You lay in a pod and are misted with your choice of treatments (Detox, firming and something else: which you can mix). The temperature gets up to 118 degrees. The first time I did this, the girl was talking so fast going through the instructions and ‘good for you’ points that I had no idea what she was saying or could absorb anything she was trying to tell me. All I heard was «Blah blah blah. pull this down over your body, press the green button three times and make sure not to touch anything inside ‘cuz you’ll get burned.» What she FORGOT to mention was that they FORGOT to put water in the pod so my first experience was sitting in this pod, with lights and vibrations (think ‘laying down disco in a pod’) and no ‘hydro’ at all. Wasted 20 minutes. AND they couldn’t re-​do ‘cuz there was an appointment right after mine. Boo.
2) Hydro-​Massage:
Self-​computer controlled, you lay on a bed when hydro jets bursts at different parts of your backside. You control the pressure, speed and where on your body. You can also play spider or Solitaire on said computer control while this is going on… that is, when the computer doesn’t black out every 2 minutes.
3) Facial:
You sit in a massage chair and while the massage chair is doing it’s thing, bring this 180 light fixture over your face and let the lights do the facial.
4) Red Light Therapy Session:
You lay in a tanning bed-​like device and let the red light do it’s magic. There is a fan blowing through so you don’t feel so claustrophobic. You end that session lathering yourself with lotion.
Although my first visit was a wasted 20 minutes in the non-​hydro hydro machine, they skipped the massage portion, I thought my second visit would be better but they had me scheduled for a different time even though I confirmed my second visit on my first visit. The third visit was alright and I FINALLY got to do all four session in one visit.
The girls were nice if asked questions but it felt like a big cattle computer rush job. When I think ‘spa’ I think relaxation, personal service, and calm relaxation. I felt rushed from session to sessions, I’m not into ‘mechanical’ spas-​I prefer personal service, my experiences with their devices were a bit ‘glitchy’, and most of the time, the soothing ‘music’ headphones didn’t work.
Glad for the experience but I wouldn’t pay full price for these services. BTW, the fine print on the coupon says the services MUST be used within 60 days of the FIRST visit, so good luck making an appointment for all FOUR services (2 hours) in one visit. It was only on my last visit was I able to do all four sessions in one visit and that was because I booked all three visits/​sessions well over a month in advance.

I recently purchased a Groupon for this place to use as a trial. After leaving my local tanning salon because I am a «tan flake», I was interested in their spray tanning. While I loved my tanning salon and their spray tan I couldn’t afford to do it once to twice a week. This place here has unlimited spray tanning and all other salon services, massages, tanning beds, facials, sauna, etc all for one price of 80 bucks. You pay one monthly fee and you get to use all services unlimited. Unlimited spray tanning? Sure, thank you very much.
I was a bit reluctant to come here reading the other reviews of the fellow Grouponers; however, I was treated very well. I guess I was a reasonable customer and understood appointments were necessary to get what I wanted? I really connected with one of the girls (Jessica I think) and I signed up!
Seriously, though, this place is busy and it is a salon so make an appointment. Don’t be a jerkface.

I purchased the one week unlimited spa services Groupon a while back and wanted to tan up before vacation.
My initial consultation was informative. The gal «kinda» assessed my skin type and told me I should not tan for more than 6 – 7 mins starting on the UV beds. All the gals are pretty helpful. One of them acted like she was too cute to work, evidenced by her apathetic and slow responses to my questions and needs.
Keep in mind that this was my first time tanning ever. So, I also didn’t appreciate it when said Beezy let me into a platinum bed for 10 minutes when I told her it was my third time ever in a tanning bed. The result: My entire backside looking like a cooked lobster. I feel like I should have been monitored out of courtesy.
The mystic tan was fine and my instructions for it helpful. It only lasted 4 – 5 days, and I didn’t turn orange. Hooray! All other services, (massage bed, hydration pod, facial) were very relaxing.
