Such an awesome and convenient store. The clerk is super friendly and remembers me when I come in. This is certainly a better business to support then major chains.

Lady working the counter seems racist and is super rude. I asked her if she took card and she said yes, so I got some candy and a drink. When I took it to the counter she said no, too little and just shooed me off. Terrible service. Don’t ever come here.

To quote Alan in The Hangover, «This is classic!» And yes, indeed, noys and girls, Park & Hester Liquor is, in fact, a classic. Charming, old-school, dropped in place from another era, it was welcome find while tripping around San Jose after a visit to the Rose Garden. Would have been fun to find it on the *way to* the Rose Garden so we had a tasty libation, but c’est la vie, n’est ce pas?

I don’t typically frequent liquor stores but this one is really close to my house. I live in the rosegarden area of San Jose and it’s a really cool old neighborhood consisting mostly of turn of the century homes, a few shops, and viola! a local liquor store. The owner is a funny guy(crap, I forget his name now). I usually stop by on my way home from work if I want to avoid the madness at Safeway. It’s also a short bike ride from my house so if we run out of booze for parties I can always pedal over for more. They are open pretty late on weekends.

This little store is a typical old school neighborhood corner place, and I really, really love those. Of course they’ve got all the typical liquor and wine/beer, as well as many good ones. I find it convenient for all the little stuff you may run out of or need asap and don’t want to go all the way to a bigger store for. He stocks lots of yummy snacks, even my favorite: Haagen Daz Rum Raisin ice cream! The owner, Bill, is always wearing a smile and loves to chat w/his customers. Sometimes after walking my dog I stop to buy myself a treat or a newspaper. BTW, my dog thinks Bill rocks because he always welcomes him to come inside the store w/me, and even gives him a piece of beef jerky or a Slim Jim! The dog and I agree: Bill’s a good guy and his store is a neighborhood jewel.
