This is a pretty decent Mexican market. The range of Mexican related soft drinks alone is worth it. Butcher, produce, and even check cashing round out the service inside… The taco truck outside however is awesome. Good al pastor and chicharron tacos. they didnt have buche so I was a bit sad on that note. However, for 1.50 you get a pretty large Pupusa which is damn tasty.

REVIEWFORTHETACOTRUCK Pretty decent taco truck outside of this market. Has all the basics you could want. Tried the carne asada, pollo asada, carnitas and cabeza. All were pretty much as expected and when you have a taco truck taco craving that’s really all you need! Very A-OK with me.

Well if I could give this place negative points I would, I went there yesterday to buy some things for a BBQ and my god. This place is dirty, small and full of FLIES everywhere we turned there I was swatting flies out of my face. Not to mention they charged me twice on my credit card so now I have to return to get refunded. Next time I will rather take the drive to Mi Pueblo and avoid the hassle.

It has the size and feel of a convenience(liquor) store, but with fresh vegetables all around it has the produce of a grocery store. It serves the community with authentic Mexican ingredients, but it would serve them better to clean up a bit and unclutter the place. The smell is also tough since the place is small and has a meat/seafood section. The smell is reminiscent of… Okay, even I won’t go there. I am clearly not drunk enough. It would also serve them better if they would carry Choco Tacos that would a plus as well. In the end, Super Mercado Mexico is a small, run down grocery store that serves the local community well, but could use a little clean up here and there. And of course, some Choco Tacos.

I was on the lookout for a good Super Mercado when I married a Latin woman and she needed ingredients that aren’t available at the local Safeway. This one was in the neighborhood so we checked it out. We haven’t gone back. The place just isn’t clean. I didn’t notice the bug zapper that grossed out Berg W. I did notice the smell from the meat/fish section. There is something in there that should be thrown out. The floor has stuff on it that should have been washed away days ago.

This would be a solid four stars, except for one thing… which I will get to. Two things I really love about this place. Firstly, the extensive spice selection. Much better than other similarly-sized Mexican markets. The other thing is the presence of head-on shrimp. Honestly, I won’t usually buy seafood from establishments such as these. Nothing against my Latin brothers, but quantity seems to override quality… not something I usually look for in seafood. I went out on a limb and got some great head-on shrimp here. Some of you might say: «why do you want the heads?» My answer to you is, you haven’t lived until you suck the brains out of your shrimp. You and your lady-friend will thank me if you try this. My problem with this place lies in the fact that there is a bug-zapper placed above the produce section. I know it won’t kill me, but do I want to see dead bugs falling on the bell peppers I’m about to buy? No. Not at all. THEPICTUREEVENSHOWS A BUGZAPPER! Other than that, they are pretty friendly to the gringos who try and speak broken Spanish to them. So, they remain my only source for head-on shrimp. Produce… not so much.

Super Mercado Mexico is a great local market. This is where we go when we want to avoid the ridiculousness of Safeway. Buy your lemons, limes, roma tomatoes, jalapenos, tortillas, rice, tomato sauce and Knorr Boullion cubes here and you’re good. Just don’t come here during the holidays to buy rompope because you’ll be shit out of luck. ***In this parking lot you’ll find the taco truck that has some of the best in the city.
