The food is mediocre, but the service from the cashier lady is unacceptable! This asian lady is so rude, she was yelling at my mom and me. I don’t know what her problem was, but I am not spending another penny here! Plus, I think they need a visit from the health dept, I saw flies lurking around the meat that was hanging in front of the window.

This place has been around for quite some time. I think the owners are Chinese but also speaks Vietnamese. They sell whole and part roasted meat like squid, duck, and pig. Try to come early because they tend to want to close early some nights! They say they close at 7, but they might be closed by 6:45 unless that was because of New Years. This is a small shop next door to the Lion supermarket. It has a few tables inside for dining as well.

I just went there tonight and they’re closed. I can’t tell if they’re closed for good but I was there during their open hours and they were most definitely closed.

Came by for a ½ Roast Duck the other day and it was great! At $ 9.75 for half a duck, the duck was flavorful, meaty and juicy by the time dinner was served! They also packed a small container of sauce to complement the duck! Service was okay by the staff and was no frills. Cash only! :)

My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick snack and stumbled upon this place. We ended up getting half of a roasted duck and we were so happy that we did! The duck was perfectly roasted, fatty, and the skin was crispy… I have been dreaming of duck since we had it. The store is cash only, but if you don’t have cash(as what happened with us), you can get cash back at the Lion grocery store next door.

As I come from HK I’m so used to Cantonese bbq and the roast pork here is very authentic and it is not dry. It has moist inside the meat. But cha Siu is not so good I would say it is just normal since there aren’t many places that make good cha Siu even in HK so this place is pretty nice for 8 bucks to get a lunch box

Three stars for the yummy duck. The lady boss always has a nasty attitude each time I come here.

I used to come here as a kid and Dad would get us lunch specials that had rice and one or two BBQ items. I came in asking if they still had this(in English) and the butcher was completely incomprehensible. Then the guy precedes to shit talk about me to the cashier in Chinese. Just because I don’t want to SPEAK the language dosn’t mean I don’t UNDERSTAND it. Do NOT come here unless you are fluent in ‘marbles-in-your-mouth’!! The butcher also spits half eaten food when he talks all over his cutting surface and food products. Disgusting and terrible service. I’d rather drive to Story Rd!

I used to come here since their bbq items. However, the bbq pork did not have the same taste. I was a bit disappointed with the food. This store is located beside the Lion Market. They only take cash. Parking is shared with other stores in this plaza.

Funny, I have seen this place for years since Lion opened and never ventured in. I’m not in the neighborhood, so other than being picking one up in SF if I happen to be up there; or picking one up at the local 99 ranch, or actually making one at home, I was never apt to come here. I had called ‘em ahead of time to see when they opened(on Easter — 9:30 a), and sure enough there was a line out the door. down to the parking lot. From a distance, from standing in line, you could peek into the open door to the kitchen, and you can actually see the rows and rows of raw ducks waiting to be roasted. I think that it’s prob a good cycle — the more popular you are; the higher the turnover; thus the fresher they are coming out of the oven. I had been waiting in line 45 min. or so until it got to me; it was well worth a whole one at $ 17.50. I think that they might trim the fat off ahead of time, cuz it wasn’t fatty at all; there was no giant layer of fat underneath the skin, though this did not take away from the quality or taste. The skin had the right amount of color and crisp; with just the right amount of oilyness, but not too much to where it was a hinderance. I’m already craving my next one!

Holy Crap, stood in line for an infinity as it was the weekend. I had to fight off swarms of older asian ladies but in the end it was worth it. The roasted duck is very good. The roasted pork not as good, but man, so much fat and oil on the duck, it was like made out of the fat of god. In the end, lesson learned is to not going prime time as you will be standing in line for 30 min or more fighting off asian lady’s. Train hard and you will not fail, falter from this path, and you shall know nothing but pain.

When my family use to live in ESSJ we would always order the duck from here. My family and I have been a customer of New China for over a decade! Now that I moved to north SJ, I can’t find anything that even comes close to how good the duck is from here. I’ve tried many different restaurants and nothing even comes close! Tip: get extra duck sauce to pour over your rice! I would’ve given this place 5 stars, but I don’t like the fact that they can run out of what you want to order.

This is where my family and I would go to order roast pork(heo quay/thit quay), roast chicken(ga quay) and BBQ park(xa xiu). I came in a few days ago and ordered 1 lb of BBQ pork. Keep in mind I was speaking in Vietnamese and the person chopping up the meat is Chinese that knows/somewhat understands Vietnamese. He thought I said roast pork so he chopped up 1 lb of it and I paid. I walked out the door and looked at the order and it was roast pork! I came back into the store and told the cashier lady and she said, NO you said roast pork not BBQ pork, YOU said it WRONG… So I felt that was rude on them to have accused me of saying the order wrong when I know that I am 200% sure that I said BBQ pork. Despite what she said, she replaced the roast pork with BBQ pork. Pro: Large variety of meat selection YUMMY food :) Con: Not the best customer service but it is how Asian restaurants/stores are Will accuse you of being wrong Dirty area Asian drivers/parking(this place is in Lions Plaza — the land of Asians in SJ) Recommendation: GETTHEMEAT! Would have given it a 4⁄5 for the food but had to take off 1 star for saying I said the wrong order :(

New China Station is located right next to the Lion Supermarket on Tully Road. You might have a hard time seeing it as the place isn’t that big and is hidden near the right exit of the supermarket. If you see the green marble tiles next to Lion Supermarket, you should see(and smell) the goodness. When I went here, I was the only non-Chinese or non-Vietnamese customer. Perhaps this is because there are no English menu’s at all; everything is written in Mandarin or Vietnamese. Luckily for me, one of the butchers understood what I asked for. The owner of the shop is kind and does speak English so for all of us non-Mandarin or non-Vietnamese speakers, she may be a big help if she isn’t busy. I ordered 2lbs of siu yuk(crispy roast pork charged per pound) and a whole duck(can be purchased as whole or half). It is important to keep in mind that once you buy whatever it is you want from here, you eat it right away. The food tastes better fresh when you do not need to reheat it in the oven. Verdict on roasted pork: 3⁄5. One point off because the pork was way too lean to my liking. There was a small sliver of fat left under the skin! Don’t get me wrong. The salty porky foodgasm you get with that crunch from the crispy skin was wonderful, but it wasn’t as juicy or moist as I hope; that’s where I wanted the fat to be present. Another point off(SHOULD be two points off) for my pork tasting like roast duck. When you walk in, you will see the roast duck hanging by the window, with the pork sitting right under it. Thus, the oil and flavor from the duck drips onto the pork. In addition, the chopping board that the pork is sitting on is also the same chopping board where the roast duck is chopped. Verdict on the roasted duck: 4⁄5. Very tender and surprisingly, it doesn’t have a strong gamey taste like it usually does. The duck comes with a container of duck sauce for dipping. This was perhaps the better of the two items I bought. What I would recommend is using more anise seed on the duck. After my first bite, I knew immediately that it did not have the strong gamey flavor, but also lacked the strong herby/anise-seed infused flavor and aroma. New China seems to be busy all day, but to be safe, try to stop by before or a little after lunch to avoid the lunch-time rush(if that’s something you’d like). Not the best pork and duck I’ve had, but I’d say it’s one of the better places in the area.

**The Search for Suckling Pig #2** Returned to New China Station to try their roast pork and inquire about buying a small roast pig for a party. Ideally, it’d be a suckling pig as I want it to only be one entrée, not dominate an entire table and consist of lbs of leftovers. I ordered a half pound of roast pork and while it was lean and tasty, it was overall a bit underseasoned. I definitely had to dip it in the included soy sauce. The roast duck, which they sell a ton of here and you can see lining the walls of the back room, is better. Turns out they sell roast pig, but it’s rather large, typically 15 lbs. That’s probably a bit more than I need. I also think the roasted pork was solid, but not great. The skin wasn’t crispy enough and the meat wasn’t flavorful enough. New China Station is cash only. 1) Tai Pan Bakery and BBQ 2) Huong Lan 3) Cheung Hing — Millbrae 3) New China Station BBQ

I stopped in to buy a roast Duck. I noticed the menu was purely in Chinese and in Vietnamese. There wasn’t any English on the menu. Although one sign was in English. It said Cash Only. My whole duck came out to be $ 17.50. I guess the prices of ducks really went up from back in the days. I brought the duck home and it was really tasty. I can’t complain about the food.

Mama and auntie likes the roast duck and pork here. Staff speaks both Vietnamese and Chinese. Service is pretty quick and abrupt, but if you don’t know the cultures you may see it as rude. Next to Lion Market. Cash only! We order here all the time. We got the BBQ pork(cha xiu) and roast duck($ 8.75/lb). Greasy and oily. Crunchy and yummy. If left out for a while, meats get dry and not good. Best when hot…

This place deserves a five(5) STARZ rating with their«togo» Roast Duck & Roast Pork(crunchy skin and juicy). The owner — she is always nice and very friendly. I highly recommend coming here if you are in the area. Then take it home and heat it up in the oven and let it melt in your mouth!

8.75 lb for bbq pork and roast pork Came here at 7 and they were already fully cleaned up and ready to go… I ordered leftovers basically but I drove out of the way to get this, so I had to try it. Roast pork was good. Probably some of the best I’ve had in South Bay. BBQ pork was absolutely disgusting… the person cut me a slice that was dry and burnt… O yeah… no rice either…

This used to be my go-to place for roast pork, but I’ve recently created membership at King Eggroll and don’t come here as often. The quality of the pork here is among the best, but the skin isn’t quite as crispy as at King. It does beat King in regards to service however! There’s usually two butchers working the front(cutting your meat and ringing you up) and another one or two in the kitchen. I can’t say much about the kitchen workers as I’ve never had any interaction with them, but I’ve come to really like the butchers. They work so diligently and carefully, and run a really honest operation. Once, as my meat was being chopped, a small piece of it flew off the cutting board, which was really no big deal. I wouldn’t have missed that piece at all. Yet instead of putting the piece in my box anyway or simply ignoring it, the butcher cut off another small piece from the pig and added it to my box. He really didn’t need to, but it was so sincere of him to. Try to get your roast pork here if you can! Oh, they speak Vietnamese here too.
