History

Established in 2001.

MODULUS has become one of the Bay Area’s most recognized and sought after firms. MODULUS is known for their thoughtful and sensitive care to all clients’ needs, issues and considerations. Treating each project as a unique set of circumstances with differing budgets, timelines, and environments, MODULUS takes the clients’ problems and wishes as their own. We place ourselves in the ‘seat’ of the client in order to more fully understand those parameters that in turn create the space that the client will work, play, learn, dream, and live within.

Our project portfolio is both diverse and extensive. Our works range from residences and retail buildings to commercial interiors and corporate headquarters. It is this diversity of use that allows us to understand the needs and issues that affect the lives of all users, and the advantages that can be incorporated by having worked in a multitude of genres.

Business Owner

David C. Fenster, AIA LEED AP is the founder of MODULUS and Principal in charge of design and production within the office. Mr. Fenster has over two decades of experience in the design and construction of a wide range of projects and project types since graduating Cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has been a visiting juror at local architectural schools, taught design studio, and currently is working on projects ranging from custom residential to retail, and corporate interiors. Not only has MODULUS garnered numerous architectural awards, but Mr. Fenster has also won honors for his graphics, web design, object design, and written articles. It is the combination of these with his construction knowledge and design sensitivity that have made MODULUS one of the areas brightest and most promising firms.
