After working as an aircraft mechanic for the government and the California Department of Forestry, Thomas moved to a different career as an architectural design draftsman. He was a skydiver for 15 years and made almost 2,000 skydives. Base jumping was a big part of his life too. He made jumps from El Capitan and Half Dome in Yosemite. Now he likes to hike to places like Mt. Whitney as well as many other peaks in the Sierras. The most challenging hike was Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa. This hike reached 19, 361 feet.
