Mike’s Moving

My experience with this company was both positive and negative. I will start with negative side.
It seems like they are really not organized, I tried to make sure to arrange to meet at the specific Uhaul location like 3 times to make sure the communication went correct. And he still showed up at other Uhaul location, it was not a big deal but maybe the area to improve?
And I initially hired 2 guys but one guy got sick and only one person showed up.
So the move ended up taking longer time than we all thought, plus my boyfriend helped a lot to cover the second person who got sick.
And lastly, probably because the mover is only one person, it hurt some of my furniture. I realized after I started to arrange my new place and found many scratches on one of my favorite furniture.
Plus side, the one guy who came to do his job, he did work very hard. I expect that and I do appreciate that. I would give him 4 stars. Although because of the whole thing went out of our plan and we all worked extra hours that there was some sour feeling left.
I think as a business, if they can organize better and always have backup people to cover the clients as you promised, it would improve the whole experiences. That would end up having movers to get more tips and we would have been all happier. Moving is already a hassle, and more hassle from moving services who supposed to make things easier is the last thing we want.
Great job tho, the mover guy who tried to take care the situation.

I was given a quote on the phone of $ 350, total. When he showed up on the day of the move, mysterious fees and «oh, that’s extra» suddenly appeared, until my final bill was $ 495, even though I’d been clear about every aspect of the move over the phone.
Worse yet? Not even all of my belongings made it from my storage unit to my new house. I’m now the proud owner of a $ 700 wood and iron coffee table with two legs, and a sad panda about the loss of a $ 600 nightclub laser that never arrived to my home. When I called him about the missing items, he first told me he’d look into it, then later said they’d performed another move and he couldn’t do anything. He was completely unapologetic
There’s a reason most moving companies show up with completely empty vans, and there was a stack of boxes and blankets at the back of Mike’s (rather run-​down and beaten) moving truck, which did make my spidey-​sense tingle, but I ignored it… much to my current despair.

BEWARE He forged a check and stole $ 4,000 from my bank account.

I used them about 6 years ago, it was a horrible experience. The first two guys that were sent had to leave because 1 was ill. That was understandable, but then he promised to get someone else out there and I waited until 4pm for them to show up. They covered nothing and there was a hole in the roof of the truck. It began raining that afternoon and my mattress and the T.V. took the brunt of the storm. He dried my mattress out and brought it to me a few weeks later and it was fine. The big t.v. (not a flat screen) we had to haul to a dump. As per the crew: One guy was had the worst body odor ever, the other who we waited so long for because he was at church with his wife and kids that day got my phone number off the work order and began calling to tell me that he «was attracted to me» but would not say who he was for 3 weeks and it was a creepy experience because he not only had my old address where I still stayed for a few month, but he had my new address too. The stinky guy showed up at my house a few times and asked if he could take a shower. He was also interested in some old furniture that I said I was giving away. Using a ball point pen, he wrote something on a single sheet of paper on top of a pine table, the number is scratched so hard onto the table that it still shows. All the signs were there, I should have cancelled when the guys went home sick. I would not use them again if they offered to work for free.

We used Mike’s Moving last week, to move our mother from the house she has lived in for the past 55 years. Mike was quite the professional, and sensitive to the fact that this was potentially a difficult move for Mom. Mike’s policy, where elderly customers are involved, is to have at least one other family member involved in the «business» aspect. There is no concern for fraud here, or the taking advantage of older clients. We were very impressed by that.
On moving day, the crew was quick and efficient. We were impressed that virtually EVERY piece of furniture and artwork was wrapped with blankets, that were then taped into place. Unloading was equally as efficient, and Mike provided extra help as furniture was reassembled or «tweaked» to just the right position in Mom’s new place.
Bottom line… you can use Mike’s Moving with great confidence.

I had never moved before but Mike’s Moving made my move easy! Mike was very helpful and delivered moving supplies before the move day. His guys were quick and took good care of my stuff. I would definitely use them again.

I had a negative experience with this company. Initially I asked for a written quote for the cost of moving a one bedroom apartment from the tri-​valley area to Oakland, CA. He would not send me a quote in writing but told me over the phone it would be $ 350.00. and against better judgement I hired them anyway. Two men arrived, and within an hour of arrival, one of the men asked to use the restroom and let me tell you, I had to open every window and leave the stench was so vile.
Back to the moving — I had wrapped and boxed all of my own items and bagged all of my clothing and had it easily accessible for them. They did not cover a single piece of furniture and treated most of it as if it were cheap, which was not the case. They rolled my 2500 dining table on the ground to move it. Before traveling to Oakland, he materialized a quote sheet and made some strange offer of only charging me for a half hour drive to Oakland. Ok, whatever… Upon arrival, they took forever unloading to the point where I was helping unload and when all was said and done he charged us roughly $ 600.00. His reasoning was that because I didn’t have a dedicated elevator to carry the move out items in the first apartment, it took much longer than expected. (I did have a dedicated elevator at the new place.)
He also tried to sell me furniture and hire someone he knows as a maid. This was a bad experience and I would not recommend this company. I would get something in writing if you were considering hiring.
