Magnificent piano-​moving by consummate professionals. They are masters of angles and leverage, accomplishing their weighty mission with total calm. Greg kindly accommodated my schedule by waiting 3 hours to deliver my piano to its new location. Prompt, attentive phone communication too.

Well, that was painless! Less than 24 hours after I phoned, my piano is safely moved. Service was on time and professional. Would highly recommend.

They were amazing. Very professional, very reasonable –actually quite a bit cheaper than I had expected– it was really quite incredible watching them move an 800lb piano down a staircase. I definitely recommend.

I didn’t actually wind up using McCrea’s (I need a piano moved out of the area they serve) but they were kind enough to refer me to someone who could do just what I needed.

These guys are pretty awesome. They moved this Yamaha baby grand through some VERY challenging obstacles. Very focused, professional, and kind. A tad pricey but probably worth every penny considering what they did.

Greg McCrea was extremely nice and reasonable over the phone which is why I hired them. However when Jeremy (his partner?) arrived, Jeremy reneged on the price, was extremely rude and extorted me to pay more by threatening to leave the piano in the driveway. He wouldn’t take the piano up the stairs (which Greg had agreed to do) and it ended up in a house (no stairs) for more money.
Moral: get the price in writing.
Greg may be a decent person, but Jeremy is indecent.

Moved my piano from up to downstairs, and moved my sectional and queen mattress for a bit more. Friendly and efficient service. Never seen a piano moved — it was elegant going down 10 stairs where they put down carpet to protect stairs and used a sled to get the piano down. And just two guys!

I have used McCrea’s several times over the years. They moved my 1938 Baldwin grand piano, and it didn’t need tuning afterwards. These guys were totally awesome. Super nice. Prompt. Consistent with the quoted price. They had lots of experience and were fun to talk to about the Bay Area music scene. As a team, they communicated well and were very safe and effective. They even helped me move a victorian pump organ last minute in addition to my grand piano when I asked, for a great deal. Can’t speak highly enough. Turns out we had some mutual friends also. Probably if your a piano player, you might have a few friends in common as well. give them a call!

These guys are no joke! I called on a Tuesday afternoon to move a piano from a friend’s son’s preschool. By Friday they were moving it into my house. They were careful and quick and well priced! It was a heavy upright piano that is 105 years old and they made sure to keep it in the condition it was in. The guys were friendly and helpful, also recommending a wonderful tuner. I would highly recommend them and use them again if we ever get a new piano. Thanks so much!

Moving something as large and awkward as a piano into tight spaces is an art form and McCrea’s is the best at it. After putting a bunch of dents in my walls moving my piano in the house, I called them and I have used them again since. Watching Greg work is fascinating. They went around corners and down stairs. You will not be disappointed.

McCrea’s was very responsive when I first called for a piano move from El Cerrito to Alameda. They were right on time and handled the piano with care. It was fun to watch them maneuver it with what seemed like little effort. It took only two guys. They charge per step and I had miscalculated how many we had. But, upon moving the piano, they scratched the front door so that the wood needed to be re-​sanded/​re-​glued/​painted back on. So, they deducted some of the steps as payment for the door repair. We would call them again if needed!

I must say; Greg McCrea has a way with a piano. I wasn’t looking forward to having my antique piano moved (he estimated it to be 100 years old), but I knew it had to be done. It’s an old, upright player piano and HEAVY (again, estimated to weigh around 700lbs.). When we had it moved to our old house, it took 6 strong men to do it, but Greg and his helper did it by themselves. What’s that expression? «Don’t work hard, work smart» and I think this is exactly what Greg does. The piano was loaded and in his van so quickly, I didn’t really even have time to come out and see it being done.
Another reason I chose McCrea’s: he communicated very well over the phone. I talked to another piano mover in my city, but he was rather gruff. And even though the gruff guy gave me an estimate that was about $ 40 less, I just had a better feeling with McCrea’s.
My only complaint is that we had to wait an hour for him. I know time frames can be iffy and the Hubby was giving him a call as they were coming down the street. Still, I liked his efficiency so much, I have to give him 5 stars.
If I ever have to have this piano moved again and I’m sure that one day I will, I know who I’m going to call.

There are 3 reasons that you should hire these guys:
1. They’re great communicators. Just give them a call to see what I mean. They’re polite and they’ll keep you informed of pickup and drop off times so you’re never left wondering.
2. They’re well-​priced. I called several companies and went with McCrea’s because they tied another company for the lowest quote and were available on the day that I needed the piano moved. Their quote beat most of the others by hundreds of dollars.
3. They’re AMAZING to watch. You would not believe what 2 guys can do with a platform dolly and some strips of carpet. There’s also some sort of cool piano moving lingo. One guy was calling for moves and the other guy was responding with some awesome jargon that I didn’t understand. It was like watching a ballet.
So there you go. Three simple bullet points that should speak volumes. Call McCrea’s!

It took me a couple days to actually book McCrea’s due to me being unsure and wishy washy. Each time I called them, they were very quick in responding back and totally understanding about my need to have thought through decision process.
We scheduled for today between 12:30−1pm. They called around 1pm to say they’d be 20 min late. Later peering into the truck, I saw they were busy moving a huge concert grand piano… Whoa my lord! You’re forgiven!!!
Only two men deep, they came friendly, professional and in uniform. They were in and out by 1:30pm! So quick, I had to do a double take on the time. They were extremely efficient with minimal use of tools and equipment. How? It is obvious that they know what the are doing, moving not with strength but with balance the entire time.
It was kinda weird. Like they were guiding my piano through Yoga poses. Have you ever seen a piano in Ardha Chandrasana with Pada-​Hastasana? How about Dhanurasana? I have! Right now a beautiful black yamaha is laying in Shavasana in my family room fully relaxed and in deep meditation…“ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”
