I’ve been to Dr. Malek twice now for root canals and also for a consultation. I could not be more pleased with the services provided.
Dr. Malek has such a reassuring manner, constantly communicating during the procedure insuring you that it’s going great. Which it did.
He’s very much in tune with and observant of how you are doing looking to see if you have any discomfort. He is also very patient and answers all questions during the consultation.

I saw Dr. Malek on Monday ⁸⁄₁₀ and he was able to schedule me with a same day consultation and root canal procedure after my dentist recommended me to him due to a painful tooth (#2). Dr Malek was very professional and worked very quick and efficienatly to provide me with the most painless root canal experience I could have asked for. His staff/​assistant was attentive and I would recommend him to anyone needing a root canal treatment as quickly and painless as possible

Yesterday marked the 2^nd root canal procedure Dr Malek has performed on me and I would not hesitate to recommend him to any of my friends and family needing endodontic services.
When you are in pain from a tooth, you are in a very vulnerable position. Dr Malek is very calm, patient and positive. It is clear that he really cares about easing his patients’ pain in a quick, competent and professional way.
I was very nervous going in both times, because you hear and read a lot of horror stories about root canals. But Dr Malek is so good with the anesthesia and works so quickly I had a more pleasant experience with these root canals than with many of my fillings and crowns. I find the way he keeps talking to you with updates on what he’s doing and how well it’s going, to be very reassuring.
So, if you’re reading this with an aching tooth, just take a deep breath and get in there and get it over with. I think Dr Malek and his staff will take good care of you.

MUST READ PLEASE
I have problem with tooth#15 and #30 and my dentist referred to another renowned endodentist in east San Jose who opined that tooth #15 «may need RCT» but on #30 and 31he will do RCT and I spent $ 120/​-​for his opinion. I discussed with my dentist and preferred to go for second opinion, searched the endodentists and went to get opinion on #15 and #30. I read many reviews about all endodentists and different folks and different strokes. Some need posh offices, some have insurance problems and some staff problems. I ALWAYS GO TO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION and want to know what is wrong with the services provided by not having good or average public reviews and choose to go see Dr. Malek for second opinion and paid $ 174/​-​I did not tell him about the previous opinion. He checked #15 and #30/​31. He grinded #30 and gave me medication and hoped that the pain may go away but surely told that I need RCT on #15. Believe me that there is no pain since 9÷18÷14 up today. He was very cordial, office staff very sincere asking for water but if any of you is looking for big posh office, its average but if you are looking for services, its the right office and best opinion. He is the only one believe running the office and not like others have other associates cramped in clinic.
He has not only saved my $ 1350/​-​dollars on 9÷18÷14 by rubbing the #30, making me pain free but gained my confidence as compared to the first endodentist who has very posh office and wanted to do RCT on# ³⁰⁄₃₁. Salute to Dr.Malek.
Yesterday on 10÷28÷14, I went for RCT on #15 having excruciating pain because both opinions of the first endodentist and Dr. Karem recommended RCT. When I entered with my wife, I was asked if I need any water. Before writing review I asked the name who offered water and processed the claim. Antoinette, Vivian and stephanie are asset to the office. Today I was called at home to enquire how am I doing, which adds another feather in their cap. «Wonderful», very nice, which boosts the morale of the patient that he or she went in the right hands. I am pain free and personally feel indebted to Dr. Malek for saving money, giving good opinion and making me happy;

First I would like to start off by saying this by far, hands down was the best experience I ever had, ever! I am always a nervous wreck during any dental appointment. And going in for a root canal (which I had one done in the past by a «specialist» who put me through a bad experience) I was truly in good hands.
When I walked into the office, the tone and vibe was relaxing. That is a plus in my book when walking into any environment. But more importantly a dental office. The front receptionist was absolutely sweet, and kind. Very welcoming and professional. The specialist assistant was so very kind and made me feel too in good hands.
Dr. Malek, was phenomenal. He was very caring, and gentle. He constantly checked in on you to see if you were ok. The entire time not only was i comfortable, but I can actually say it was painless.
I’m sharing my experience because I personally find it very helpful when in search for the «right one». I highly recommend Dr. Malek. Thank you for taking the time to read my experience!

Last weekend, I had a tooth that was causing my pain… I could tell (from past experience) that it was infected. By Monday, the pain was too much. I called Dr. Malek Karim’s office, and they were able to squeeze me in that morning. Dr. Malek inspected my tooth, and determined that I did in fact need a root canal.
A root canal procedure is never pleasant, but Dr. Malek did his best to make sure I was comfortable (reminding me to breathe deeply through my nose and telling me I was doing a good job). I was out of the office in about one hour. The entire office staff was very nice and I greatly appreciate them fitting me in last minute.
Additionally, I did not have to take any pain medication after the procedure. I just followed the instructions from the office (to eat soft foods for several days), and everything has been just fine. It’s been over a week since the root canal, and my tooth is feeling great!

I had a tooth implant done by Dr. Malek Karim due to having a baby tooth that had no adult tooth behind it. I had not been to the dentist in quite some time so naturally I terrified myself before the procedure. I was convinced it was going to be a long horrible painful process. Dr. Malek has a very calming demeanor and assured me it would be quick and painless. It was completely painless, although the procedure, like anything you have done at the dentist is not very pleasant. It took about 45 mins to an hour and once the numbing wore off I hardly felt any pain at all, seriously, I was eating no problem in 2 hours. The Doc is a totally cool guy, I felt completely comfortable with him and his entire staff was extremely helpful at, making me feel comfy and relaxed. I highly recommend Dr Malek if you need an implant or anything else his office offers. Overall I was shocked at how fast and painless it was. The Doc is a very professional and talented DMD. I have absolutely no problems and I am completely happy with his work and the cost of everything he did, Thanks Doc, I appreciate it and Thank your staff too, they were great!

this rating is specifically to the Office Staff and not the doctor because I received enough bad service from them and didn’t even want to meet the doctor.
I have seen the worst of the worse… a group of front office staff who has no follow through and do not know the meaning of customer service, and worst of all do not take responsibility (especially when one is trying to give them business).
I would say Antionette — is the worst offender — I do not know if it is a training issue, her naïveté or just her personality but she does not know how to talk to people especially when the information she’s providing is being questioned.
Overall — on the basis of the front staff (which most of us will deal with the most moreso than the doctor) is giving me this much crap before I even get to see the Dr. I say skip and go to the next one.

My wife had a bad infection over the weekend, the pain was so bad she could not sleep or do anything. We general dentist was out so we called Dr. Malek. He quickly responded to our question, put an appointment down on Monday morning and took some of the infection out and put my wife on antibiotics. He then followed up with another visit and made sure she was okay. I appreciate his responsiveness and taking care of her so quickly and efficiently.

What an amazing job Dr. Malek has done on my root canal. His the only Dentist that I would recommend with sensitive operations like root canal. His amazing.

I was initially referred to Dr. Malek by my regular dentist for a root canal. I always read the Unilocal reviews before using any professional service and found his reviews less than stellar. Since my tooth was killing me, I went in anyway. Filled out some paperwork, waited a few minutes and was called in by a staff member. Dr. Malek arrived shortly thereafter and examined my issue to inform me that the tooth in question was actually the tooth next to the one my dentist said was the problem. He then said it could be both but wanted to do the root canal on the one that was bothering me the most. By that time I had had enough and politely declined his services and left. I called my dentist and asked for a different referral and was sent to Dr. Ray Sharani who quickly diagnosed a hairline fracture and told me he couldn’t save the tooth by performing a root canal. After a consultation between Dr. Sharani, me and my general dentist, I had the tooth extracted. I’m now pain free and my dental insurance didn’t suffer the pain of being charged for needless services except for an inflated and ridiculous consultation charge by Dr. Malek.

1. This is the purpose of Unilocal, people have their own opinions of certain businesses and obviously «the review of the person who was not happy» is NOT the only one not happy.
2. You have a lot of nerve correcting someones spelling «the procedure is ROOT CANAL, not ROUTE canal» because DOSE is spell does, FYI.
3. You seem more like the doctor himself or an employee.

A few years ago I needed a root canal done, and my regular dentist Dr Vu refereed me to this dentist. Right in the beginning I felt like he could not care less for me. He literally poked me with that needle like if I was a dog — about 4 times and every time he did it very carelessly. I think he was frustrated that I didn’t become as numb as he needed me to be as quickly as he wanted to. He was drilling as well VERY impatiently and pushed through like crazy — I am not exaggerating! I am a very reasonable person, and I had my other teeth done before so I know how it should be done. I suffered through this horrible procedure like a champ with tears dripping of my face. THEN GUESS WHAT HAPPENED? I JUST LOST MY TOOTH BECAUSE MY ROOT CANAL WAS DONE POORLY — IT FAILED!!! I just had my tooth extracted — and all the pain I went through (still healing), I BLAME DR MALEK BIG TIMES FOR HIS CHEAP JOB DONE ON ME! Now I am going to have to spend over $ 2,800 on the implant. I feel horrible about this doctor, and I wanted everyone to know my story — it’s one of the biggest regrets of my life! I am only 34 and I lost my tooth due to a poor job on my route canal — it’s unreal!

Dr. Malek did my RCT, and after my root canal I still had pain. They didn’t even call me back after my root canal to check up on me. I called them back and told them that I still have the pain. They told me it’s normal and it will goes a way after a while. But it didn’t. I called them back again and they gave me and apt. to see what is going on. The Dr. said «OO everything is okay and I don’t see anything on the X-​ray». I had this feeling that there was something wrong. I Made and apt with another dr. and when he looked out my X-​ray he said there is an infection. I was so scared. Went back to Dr. Malek and said that the tooth is really bothering me. He didn’t say that I had an ifection again and he said ooo IF you want I can re-​do the RCT but I don’t see any problem. when He did the RCT again he gave me 5 shots and the tooth wasn’t numb at all. At that point I new that there was lot’s of infection. After 4 month I still had pain. I called them up and he said I have to extract my tooth. Yeah that simple he fucked up my tooth and because of his mistake not doing a good job at the frist time I ended up loosing my tooth. Be aware guys. I lost my tooth by this root canal specialist!!! And beside that I paid a lot of money for this procedure. A root canal specialist that can’t do his job. please save ur money and ur tooth people by finding someone that knows what they’re doing. I am so sad and angry. Now I have to do the implant, which I am very scared and it will also cost around 3 to 4000 dollar.

I got a root canal a few years ago from an infected cracked tooth and it was my first. The whole experience there was fantastic. I’ve had fillings done that caused more pain than his root canal procedure. The only thing was when the anesthesia wears off later, you’re gonna have some random soreness and pain in your mouth. Great Dr. and staff. I actually may have to go back to him in the next week or two and am actually looking forward to it. :)

Once upon a time I scoffed in the face of people who had teeth pain. That day soon went away this week, when I experienced the worst pain of my life. I tried to wait it out, but it came to a point where it made my ear hurt, neck hurt, and headache. I was popping Advils every 2 hours. I finally made an emergency appointment with my dentist, who suggested a root canal with a specialist, since it was too complex of a situation for her. She referred me to Dr. Malek, right down the street from my house. The next morning I called Dr. Malek’s office bright and early at 9am. They were able to see me at 11am, not sure for a consultation, but for the real deal! Within those 2 hours they were able to look up my insurance, give me info on what was to happen, etc. Everyone at Dr. Malek’s office is great, from Stephanie, my first point of contact on the phone, to his dental assistant, who was able to answer all of my questions, and helped calm my nerves a bit.
When it came time to sit in the chair and start the work, I was so scared, my body was literally shaking and all clenched up. Dr. Malek talked to me the ENTIRE time, telling me what a good job I was doing, how we’re almost done, how it’s just a little noise, just like an encouraging personal trainer would at the gym. Any time I made any inclination that I was in pain, he’d stop to see if I was okay. If I wasn’t, he’d inject me with more pain killer.
To be honest, the root canal is probably the most painful thing I’ve ever gone through. There’s no NICE way to numb the nerve before taking it out. However, the Dr. Malek and his staff went out of their way to give me a great experience. I ended up doing 3 root canals in the course of 45 minutes, and was only away from work for a total of 1 hour 45 minutes. With one of those hours being lunch, I only had to really take 45 minutes off from work.
This was yesterday. Last night and this morning I had some soreness in my mouth, but nothing like what I had been experiencing. And right now, I feel great. Nothing hurts anymore. I love Dr. Malek, but don’t love getting root canals, that’s for sure. If you have to do it, come here. They’ll see you asap, and make the whole procedure QUICK, but unfortunately not painless. :(

I needed a route canal and my regular dentist had made on my behalf an appoint with Karim Malek, DMD. At this time, I provided my insurance details and was called back with a quote of $ 245.40.
Since there was an opening the next morning and I could have this done right away, I opted to pay more to have this done quickly out of network (it was only $ 25 in-​network). I did realize at this time that out of network providers cost more and was willing to have this procedure done based on the original quote. The service was done and the staff was nice and appeared to be knowledgeable.
A few weeks later, I received an additional bill for $ 168.78 since apparently Malek’s staff had not provided an accurate quote. I sent them a dispute of these charges, and less then 3 months later, the have sent me to creditors for collections for this additional $ 168.78 that I feel should have been noted in the beginning or never billed.
I do feel that he may be a competent at what he does but BEAWARE; you will pay dearly for it.
UPDATED 18 MONTHS LATER: The route canal failed. I had to have the cap removed, decay cleaned out, and my new dentist had to remove more nerve for $ 1000. DON’T, don’t go to this quack.

I was squeezed into Dr. Malek’s office for an early appointment today. My original appointment was for Wednesday, but I couldn’t wait anymore, my tooth was killing me.
I got to the dental office at 9:45, I was greeted with smiles and a hello upon arrival. I knew then that it was going to be a good experience, and it was.
I waited in the waiting area and filled out the usual forms before one of his assistants took me back to be seen. When took a seat, I was seen by Dr. Malek. He took a couple of x-​rays, which were actually instant, no more waiting 10 minutes for the film to develop, the x-​rays were sent directly to a laptop which was on the table next to us. AMAZING I must say!
Dr. Malek then got me prepped, he saw a couple of other patients and when my anesthesia had kicked in they began the root canal.
What was even more amazing than the x-​ray machine was the piece of latex that they covered my mouth with to isolate the work so that nothing drilled would fall into the back of my mouth.
About 30 – 40 minutes later… I was done! No more pain, no more having to rinse w/​salt and water, no more having to look up toothache remedies on the «intarweb.»
I can now feel my cheek, and there is barely any pain from the procedure. I would be more than pleased to get another root canal here… if ever necessary. :D
