Jose’s Fencing & Landscape

I had Jose replace a 64ft fence that was badly in need of repair. The fence was about a decade past its replace-​by date and was leaning badly. Jose was very flexible on scheduling and gave me a good breakdown on price for each part of the job. He suggested adding a pressure-​treated kick plate at the base of the fence, to give it a bit of height and protect the planks from rot. None of the other contractors had noticed or commented that the fence on the other side of the house had this, nor that the existing fence’s borders were upside down. Attention to detail that I appreciate.
Once we agreed on price and starting date, I worked from home Monday morning. His crew was at the house promptly at 8am, and they had my old fence down in just a few hours. There was some weird upward sloping of the land at the top of my property, so the fence wasn’t going to be completely level all the way along. Jose explained to me the problem and offered some solutions that I liked. He was able to make 80% of the fence level, and blended the remainder pretty well. Another day of work, and the new fence was completely up and sealed. I had another contractor replace the front and back fences, and Jose was able to tie the side fence into the other contractor’s work well.
I had originally asked to have him seal the fence with clear sealer, but I changed my mind last-​minute and got some colored stain instead. He was willing and able to stain the fence with the colored stain, charging just a little more to stain the front and back spans as well.
My new fence looks great and should last quite a while. Jose and his team work fast, doing a great job.

No response from business. They are either closed or don’t want more business. Either way they get 0 stars from me, if I can post that low.
I called on Monday morning 9 – 14 and left a detailed message.
I messaged the business through Unilocal the same afternoon.
Today, Thursday 9 – 17 I received an email from Unilocal stating «No reply yet from Jose’s Fencing & Landscape». The message also suggested that I call the business at the same number I called on Monday.
I Think Not!

I hired Jose to fix a broken fence gate, install another fence gate on the other side of the house, and clean out Sauron’s vast weed army that overcame my machete and back. The process: Jose came out, took a look at my fence needs and shameful backyard, gave me a very reasonable quote, and we set up a time.
Jose communicates quickly via text and email. The workday arrived, I arrived just before Jose drove off, and took a look. They did beautiful work, back yard was weeded to the bone, fence gates were beautiful Jose even offered to come back and install the latch on the repaired gate, since there was a missing part. I assured him that while I didn’t want to chop the vegetation in the back yard, I could handle installation of a latch. Great job, good price. I will definitely use him again if I need these types of services.

If you are ever in need of a new fence, or fence repairs, Jose is your guy. Quick, affordable, quality work. We had two repairs done by him. Great service!!!

I hired Jose and his assistant to tear down and rebuild a large fence located on a tricky slope (about 50ft long, constructed of 6×6 posts and 2×6 planks). I told him he could use a similar design as the previous fence but the one he built was far far superior — he added many more support posts and the footings he dug were much deeper and wider. He also added a ridiculous amount of concrete to each footing and used concrete forms which gave it a nice look. Very happy with my new fence and I’m pretty sure it will outlast the rest of the house. Jose and his team are also laid back, hardworking guys who were a joy to deal with. Very responsive to emails, and my neighbors even commented how considerate they were. His prices seem very reasonable as well. Highly recommend!

I wish I can give Jose a five star review, but I can’t due to the incomplete job he performed at my house. We had hired Jose to extend out our fence by 10 ft. He showed up on time for estimate and for the job. he’s polite and responds to emails/​texts in a timely manner. The day of the job I had to leave to pick up my kids just as he was about to finish the job. Judging by the quality of work and my positive experience with Jose, i paid him before I left. Next day, i realized he had left out 4 2×4’s that was suppose to cover up the nails. when I contacted him to finish the job, he stated that he built the fence according to the old one. old and existing fence have 2x4s at the top and bottom of panels to cover up nails.
his refusal to finish the job is a major turn off.
went to home depot and screwed in the 2x4s myself.

I have hired Jose twice for fence repair and also for a large tree stump removal. He did an excellent job both times. His work is solid and looks very good when completed. He doesn’t try to upsell you a more expensive service that you don’t need. His prices are also very reasonable. I highly recommend him!

We found Jose through Unilocal and we are very happy that Jose did a great job fixing our fence, gate, fountain/​pound, etc. — no wonder that he got so many great reviews! His pricing was reasonable, he provided suggestions and explained to us patiently, and he started the work just two days after we agreed with the price.
We plan to use Jose and his team for the landscaping maintenance and modification of our house in Los Gatos going forward. Also will recommend to friends for sure!

I really think the consistent messaging here needs to be paid attention to. Jose was a nice enough guy and I arranged an appointment at the scheduled time he suggested. He was quick to respond and make an appointment. When he did not show at the appointment I texted him and after a while he responded that his truck was broken. Given that I made an appointment in the middle of my work day I think «if» the story was true you would contact your appointments and tell them you can’t make it? We all have jobs and I spent two hours of mine waiting for a no show. Once he made his excuse he has made no effort to reschedule then and despite my text to contact me when his truck was fixed I still have not heard back. Doesn’t seem to want /​need the work or either respect the time of potential clients. It is too bad because from the reviews here he does seem to do good work when he does show up.

I recommend Jose to anyone needing a fencing contractor. He was great to work with, efficient, polite, and built a beautiful fence. I am so glad that Jose did this job for us.
He made sure he understood exactly what I wanted and suggested alternatives that would achieve the same goals at a reasonable price. Scheduling was easy and the work was completed quickly, even between rainy days and the thanksgiving holiday.
I hope to have Jose design something for our back deck, and maybe some walkways. In the future, if we need fencing or landscaping in our future homes, we would feel confident having Jose complete those projects, too.

Scheduled an estimate to remove a Yucca Tree and replace a section of fence that the Yucca Tree pushed out. The day before, he called to change the time of the estimate which was agreed upon. On the day of the estimate, he never showed nor phone to cancel.

I have used Jose for the past 2 years for the landscaping maintenance of our house in San Jose/​Campbell which is currently rented out. I saw Jose’s work next door first and noticed what a great job at detail he did on lawn, trimming and more (and always pleasant with a smile and wave hello!). When I rented out the house I asked Jose to take over our landscaped front yard to keep it looking great and rolling — my front yard is my baby — I checked in on the house yesterday and the front continues to look great!
Tenants also have been very happy with Jose and love the yard. I know he does alot of work in fencing and general landscaping installations and will be using him for both soon on side and back yard :-)

Jose did a very fantastic job on my fence with a reasonable price. He is honest and a man of his word. Highly recommended.

Jose is great. He provided me a quote in a timely manner. I did not use him this time. But would definitely recommend him.

Jose did a great job fixing our fence. He replaced some slats, added a better bottom support board and made sure the fence was nailed in properly so it wouldn’t slide around. He also took out giant honeysuckle type plants that damaged the fence in the first place.
His pricing was fair and he was available soon after the initial quote\meeting. His guys blew plant stuff into our pool (it’s a tight space and was bound to happen) and skimmed the pool so it looks decent again (although not as clean as after the pool guy, but that’s fine).
Docked a star for the pool not being as clean as before he started and he was a day and a half later with an estimate than he said he would be. His price and work make up for it though. Will recommend to friends.

I wrote a review for Jose back in 2009. Wish I could update it but anyway…
My family and I have since moved and I needed to get some of my fence replaced. I called Jose again to bid for it. I’m happy to say my experience was just as good as the first time. I would highly recommend Jose for all your fencing needs.

I found Jose on Unilocal.Called him on Friday to do a fence repair. He came out on Sunday, gave me a reasonable estimate, and said he could do the job the very next day. By Monday afternoon, the job was done. Quality work, fair price, and good follow through. I would recommend Jose for any fence repair job.

We have had Jose out to our house three times, and for a good reason, because every time he has come out he has been fair, pleasant to work with, and does a great job. We will continue to call him again and again as needed because he is always so professional and reliable. A few of the other reviewers have said that they had trouble with no shows, but we have never experienced this and he is always very responsive and accurate on his timing. He is especially easy to communicate with via email. He has done fencing, landscaping, and work on our sprinklers. This is the guy to call.

Jose is a pleasure to work with because he is polite, and he knows his job. He listens well and takes time to make sure the job is well done.

I had the same experience as Alana.
I called 3 days ago to schedule an initial inspection, he promised to come this morning. Today I called 2 times, he didn’t call back, 3^rd time he picked up, straight out telling me he is busy, can’t come.
This Jose has no respect to people’s time. It may say about credibility of his words.
