If u need to empty your intestines eat here… It’ll help the process. Food is good when you start, but in the end you’ll wish you went to Pizza Hut next door. I mean props to them for frying each order fresh, but I think fresh ingredients would be better.

This used to be my go to place during Lent when I lived on the east side. You can’t go wrong with the fish and chips. I also really liked the fried mushrooms. The restaurant itself is very small and gets VERY packed during Lent for obvious reasons. There’s plenty of parking but not really space to eat, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten there I usually take it to go. Always hot and fresh, just wish it was in a bigger space.

Feeling like you need your food fried and then fried some more? the yum factor is high and their fish is BIG, not some sad little fish and chips, but super big the way God intended. Great hush puppies, zuchini, mushrooms, eggrolls… you name and it’s good here(except the terriyaki chicken bowl, the chicken was hard and the whole experience pretty bland and boring). I have to limit my visit here to once a month or I would weigh over 300 pounds(like many of the patrons who waddle in here with their walkers, YAYAMERICA!)…I highly suggest this place to drunk people and stoners alike.

Food is ok service is horrible spent over $ 20 asked for. some lemons to go with te fish and they want to charge me extra 50 cents for each lemon wedge that should be an automatic with fish I give this place 2 thumbs down for price gouging. Asian owner is a cheap rip off! Will never go here again to support cheap people!!!

2 fish fillets with fries for $ 8 something is a good deal! Customer service is friendly and I’m loving that old school 80s-90s look they have going on.

The food was alright. I ordered Fish & Chips with 2 pieces of fish. I feel like the Fish was too heavily breaded(probably to make the fish look larger than it actually is) and under-seasoned. This led to a somewhat bland flavor with almost no fish taste(I used lots of tarter sauce because of this). The fries(chips) were kind of floppy and soggy. The fried oysters were good. The type of batter used was perfect for keeping it moist and juicy inside. All in all it’s nothing special, although they’ve apparently been in business for over 40 years.

I came here with a group of friends because they wanted fish and chips. This place is kind of a hole-in-the-wall located in a plaza in San Jose. I am not too familiar with this area, but getting there was just fine(even though I wasn’t the one driving). There aren’t a lot of tables to begin with and it could get crowded quickly. We were there for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and we were able to grab a table right away. With the five of us, we decided to order one of the combos they offered. This combo included fish and chips, shrimps, fried oysters, and fried scallops. It was a lot of food, even for the five of us. There were about 10 fish fillets, at least 5 to 6 fried shrimps, oysters and scallops each. The fish fillets were huge also, as you can see from the reviews and photos. They really are as big as your face! The fish were great. The batter wasn’t too overwhelming and it was nicely done with a crisp. The fish inside was tasty and juicy as well. However, I wasn’t such a big fan of the scallops and oysters. They were a lot smaller than I had thought. I’ve definitely had bigger ones some place else so I was a little bit disappointed. The batter wasn’t overwhelming for those either, though. The scallops and oysters were still pretty juicy, but not the best. Service here is good, but there aren’t very much service to begin with either. Pricing is average and since we split a combo, it came out to maybe about $ 10 per person. It wasn’t too bad. I think I am only really giving it three stars(more like 3.5) because all the fried food just gave me a bad impression afterwards. That gross and oily feeling after was not the best, but I guess that’s what I get for having fish and chips. But but but, I only really had one and a half fish fillet along with maybe one or two scallops and oysters because I was so full after one fish. Overall, this is a decent place for fish and chips. Yes, I’ve definitely had better but this isn’t all that bad either. For an average price, you do get a huge portion. I guess I just can’t handle all those fried and greasy goodness.

The rating is really 3.5 but the .5 star is for the great customer service. My BF and I had a hankering for fish and chips, so we decided on this place. The pieces of fish were fresh and large. The batter was crispy and not too thick. A little salt was needed to add some taste and a lot of tarter sauce was used. It was pretty good. We also ordered a small clam chowder, it came out barely warm… I would recommend skipping that. Also, the fries weren’t adding anything to the meal… I’d skip it too. but. Fish AND chips ya know. Overall, it was decent. We’d probably order from here again. I’m not sure how their other items are.

The best Fish & Chips, this is one of the original Chip shops left. I was raised on this, my grandma is English and this was our lunch as kids. All of the other H. SALT Shop are gone. I will always come back here.

The fish fillets are as large as my head! And I enjoyed every bite of it. This is a little hole-in-the-wall mom and pop shop and it is great. It’s not too pricey and the portions are HUGE. I went during an off time, so it wasn’t busy at all. I wish it was located in a better location with other shops, but hey, it was walking distance from my house, so it’s not too bad. The inside of the restaurant was decorated nicely with old wooden ships and such, giving you a nice ocean/sea/fishing feeling. I was helped by a very sweet woman who helped me decide how many fillets to get in order to satisfy two hungry people. She was very helpful and struck up a small conversation with me while I was waiting for my food. Fish fillets: THEYWEREHUGE and absolutely delicious. The fish tasted fresh and there was a perfect ratio of fish to batter. The batter had good flavor to it and the fish wasn’t overwhelmingly fishy. It was nice and crispy; it was easy to tell that they were JUST fried upon ordering them. The fries were also tasty; however, the fish fillets were the star of the show. I’ll most likely be back soon for the huge and tasty portions of fish.

No hipsters for miles Its been around since 1968, over 40 years, they know how to make fish and chips Got the $ 5.19 lunch special, $ 3.49 clam chowder soup and $ 1.00 can of coke Came out to $ 10.59 This place feels like the kingsman movie scene. Where collin firth in a 3 piece suit holding an umbrella is about to fight a bunch of hooligans at any moment. Someone is about to say: «MANNERSMAKETHMAN» Old wooden ships, brass door knobs, dark wood paneling, whaling harpoons The fish was flakey, no fish to be seen thats been fried 3 hours ago waiting in a heat lamp like long john silvers Fish are fried to order The clam chowder was thick and creamy, didnt get alot of clams, but the cream soup was divine, had alot of garlic and bacon in it Go here, eat fish and chips And dont be surprised if lancelot shows up

Went here because I wanted fish. They really don’t have that many choices of fish on their menu. I got the fish dinner(It’s Cod fish) plus artichokes & scallops. The artichoke were good. It came fried on a stick. The scallops were really good. They’re not that big I would have been willing to pay a little more if they were. Now the fish dinner was excellent. It’s Cod fish over rice in a generous portion with the side of coleslaw. I will definitely be coming back here!

Man. I have never been more sad to be giving a place a one star review. I really thought I would like this place. Pros: Their batter is by far the best I have had in terms of texture Cons: Their batter and fish didn’t taste like anything. I had to really squeeze the lemon and sprinkle salt on my fish Everything else you ordered, shrimp, zucchini etc. tasted like the fish Place is tiny so definitely not recommended for groups I didn’t even finish my food. My shrimp were more like shrimp cakes because they were super flat. Guess I’m gonna have to keep looking.

One of the east sides best kept secrets. My family has been going here for years and nothing has changed, except the price. Nothing to major and everything it worth your buck. We go for the 3 fish and chips extra fish order. Feeds my family of 5, with no complaints. Its usually a 3 – 4 people in lobby eating and everyone else ordering togo. The lobby is tiny, and its the same decode I saw when i was 11. Your average wait time is about 15mins, because its cooked to order. Quality of the fish is excellent, and the size is generous. One thing i would ‘complain’ about is the sizes of the chips. :(they’re so tiny now

Came here and was going to try their combo plate but after reading some Unilocal reviews decided to stick with the fish. And it was DELICIOUS. Good piece of fish and the batter was perfect. The tartar sauce is as delicious as other reviews stated. Also got a bowl of clam chowder(only ok… felt skimpy on the clams), their cole slaw was forgettable, and their hush puppies.yum. Next time, I’ll look into exchanging the fries side for another. Heard the fried zucchini is good. Service was speedy and courteous, price was reasonable. I would definitely return for more fish.

This place is Good :) I mostly get the fish and chips. The fries aren’t anything special. That being said The fish is BOMB! The batter is so crispy and well seasoned. The fish always tastes fresh! Never fishy! and the pieces are freakin HUGE! I still get two ;) I had the shrimp too, it had a little too much batter for the size of the shrimp inside. Also tried the chicken strips. Which are just fried chicken stips. Nothing special. So if you go, just stick to the fish! You’ll be sorry if you don’t
