God’s Little Acre Nursery

We loved what we saw up there. Wanted some fruit trees for our backyard and Phil helped us choose them. Beautiful place with hills all around. Its more than a nursery :)

I have NEVER seen so many varieties of fruit trees in one place before. I picked up a fuyu persimmon tree here, they had both main varietals available. If you’re looking for something beyond the regular fruit tree offerings found at big retailer nurseries, this is the place to go.

I called couple of times to find out whether they could get some Sea Buckthorn trees for me and every time the answer was «we will call you back» and after about a month I decided to give up.
Guys, it is OK to say that you cannot get the tree, but it is not OK to keep promising something that does not get delivered.

We went there yesterday to pick up some dwarf trees for our San Francisco backyard. We were so amazed at the number of fruit tree variety in this place. Phil, the owner was so helpful and accommodating. He answered all our questions and helped us pick the trees suited for our area. We picked up a couple of trellis trees (fig and fuyu), and an Asian pear tree which is four in one. Four kinds of Asian pears in one tree! All his trees are healthy and well taken care of. He even gave us a taste of his lemon cucumber that’s growing in his front yard, they were delicious!
Thank you Phil! I’m sure we’ll be back again for more trees. Oh, and say thank you to Jorge for us also. The trees withstood the drive back home because he tied them to the truck pretty well.

Trees. Any kind of tree and plenty of others you had no idea existed, THIS is THE place to get them!
Plan on spending plenty of time here because there is just so much to see… its like a maze of trees and plants. I found this place online while searching for a Rainier cherry tree as a gift and no one in the Bay Area had one but this wonderful place. The owner Phil is like a tree Jedi; he is filled with horticultural knowledge and is happy to share it and educate you so you will have the best experience possible. He truly cares about his plants and his customers and I really enjoyed my visit there. There are so many varieties of tree available including regular, dwarf and semi-​dwarf varieties and anything you can possibly want — nut trees, citrus, apples & stone fruits plus exotic tropical fruits and berries as well as ornamental plants.
Yes you will pay a bit more than Lowe’s or Home Depot but the quality and health of his plants is incomparable, plus the advice and information he is happy to give is worth every penny. I can’t say enough about this place, it is wonderful and i am so glad I stumbled across it and I will be going back often, even just to look. I will not buy a tree anywhere else but this place ever again.

My wife and I went here last weekend, even though it was further away we decided to check it out due to their specialty in grafted trees. We ended up not getting a grafted tree, but learned a lot from Phil. First of all, his selection is huge. There is a ton of variety, and plenty of stock in each variety of fruit tree or plant so you can pick out a good one. I learned about varities of which I had never heard. Phil was very knowledgable and happy to patiently explain each and every plant to us. He gave us pointers for planting and carrying for them and offered to order a specific peach tree that he no longer had in stock. Our yard is now full of fruit trees, but if we find any more space to put them, we’ll definitely be buying them from Phil.

Its selection for fruit trees is simply amazing. Citrus, apple, pear, fig, guava, avocado, persimmon, plum, peach, cherry, berry, nut, tropical, maples, multi-​grafts… Many of which already have flowers or fruits on them too! Love this place.

We were looking for a dwarf persimmon tree. We were informed that they didn’t have any and that we could buy a regular size one and prune it to a desired size. We had additional questions but the person turned away from us and started talking to another customer. We walked out, drove to another nursery and with a help of a lovely lady we special ordered a dwarf persimmon. As much as we love to buy local we won’t be coming back to this one.

Wonderful selection of trees that is not available in other nurseries. Phil gave me valuable tips on how to plant my trees. I was thinking that I might have to order some of the plants (like guava, jasmine etc) as they are not easily available right now. But, I was really surprised and happy to see these plants here locally!!!
I am so glad and thankful to Unilocal for making me finding this local nursery.

Just came back from the nursery. I was helping one of my friends get fruit trees for her new home and I must say, that he has an AMAZING collection of trees. Phil is very knowledgeable and provided us very valuable insights on how to grow them. I cannot wait to plant mine. :) Since he is local, it is really great to see so many varieties that are not commonly available in the regular stores.

As far as price and selection they have the same variety as OSH, they hardly grow anything themselves, they distribute for the same Nursery as OSH, but the price is 25% higher, the place is waaaaaayy out.
The old man is a nice guy, therefore my 2 stars, but definitely not worth my business.

I have never planted anything before, except for green onions. I did a lot research online about the varieties of each fruit and I couldn’t believe I found almost all of them in Phil’s nursery.
Here is what I got:
dwarf fuyu persimmon tree (Yes! Phile has almost all the dwarf trees I want)
Violette de Bourdaux fig tree (I can’t believe I found it)
A donut peach (white) Very sweet!
dwarf cara cara orange
dwarf meyer lemon
Pakistan Mulberry tree (That wasn’t on my list. The nice Asian lady insisted us tasting it. It was sooooo good and I had to get a tree)
A grape I don’t remember name
Goji berry tree (another hard-​to-​find)
Phil gave me free fertilizer and I got 15% off for more than 6 trees.
What’s more, I draw a sketch of my garden and Phil gave me suggestions about where to plant Mulberry (because it is really tall), fig tree (because it needs most sun) and etc.
He stood in the burning sun and answered all my questions patiently. He knows everything about the fruit trees and you can tell he loves them.
Same as other Unilocalers said, very good price compared with the big box stores and more importantly, much better trees. Most of my trees already had fruit on it.
Ture. He doesn’t have warranty. However his trees are healthier and more productive than what you can find in Home Depot. I would rather have better trees than the promise to replace but with not-​so-​good trees. It’s the choice you have to make.
So far NONE of my trees is dead. Planting them in the hottest days in the year is not the best choice but I couldn’t wait. The peach/​persimmon/​mulberry/​orange/​grape recovered pretty fast from the transplanting shock. Goji has a lot of flowers. The fig tree took a while and just started to have new sprouts. Its leaves are still curling but it is looking good. The figs are really tasty! I guess I need to make another trip to ask Phil for suggestions on further care.
I think he can accept credit card if over certain amount. I paid in cash so I could save him transaction fee, maybe. It is always good to support local business.
I am thinking about getting more fruit trees next year and I will definitely go directly to Phil for the trees I want.

Phil is such a nice guy! He keeps the nursery well kept and is extremely helpful! They have TONS of fruit trees that you dont typically see anywhere else. We came across this nursery online and found they have grafted fruit trees such as five in one apple and cocktail trees (one tree with more than one
Kind of fruit). I can understand people would say its pricey.15gallon for 150 $. But it really isnt that bad if your getting 5trees in one! Great deal and service! Will be back!

Love love love this place. A must go for those looking for fruit bearing trees from Asian Pears holding 2, 3 grafted pears, avocados holding 1 – 5 grafted avocados, etc. many selections to chose from. This is what Phil does. An excellent man

I called ahead to see if God’s Little Acre Nursery had dwarf avocado trees. Phil the owner answer and said Yes! I have 15 of them. I really wanted a Carmen Hass as it provides avocado’s three times a year but is only sold near LA and they don’t sell these to the public but to farmers. Next on my list was Gwen which Phil had!
So the wife and I jumped in our minivan and drove down there. It’s off Almaden Expwy, right on Almaden Rd, about a mile down on the left side with a sign. No parking inside, so you have to park off the road on the makeshift curb, the road is not that busy.
Went in to their tent and they had at least five of them, picked a 7 gallon for $ 89 that had the most fruit and was the greenest and some avocado/​citrus fertilizer which he said to put on top of the dirt vs mix in with potting mix and soil. He also said once planted, do not dig near the surface as the tree has planters that it spreads on the ground surface that you do not want to disturb. They do not warrant their trees, so if they do not grow or die, they will not refund, but they will give you advice. They can’t control your soil or your watering techniques or any bugs or diseases your tree gets.
On reading the web, they recommend watering the tree deep twice a week and check leaf color, in summer you, may need to adjust and add more water. This little nursery has a lot of fruit trees and very reasonably priced, the 5 gallon avocado trees are $ 39, 7 gallon $ 89 and larger around $ 150. The staff will wheel your tree to your car on the road and payment was accepted as cash.
I may return for other trees in future (I have a persimmon, orange, lemon and plum so far, adding an avocado! 4 stars.

I grew up with an apricot tree next door, and have fond memories of eating super ripe fruit fresh off the tree. Now that I live in a house, I decided i need to plant my own tree. I researched nurseries on Unilocal,and found this one.
I first went to other nurseries, but the prices seemed excessive. I ended up coming here and buying a 5 gallon apricot for about $ 27, plus some heirloom tomatoes for a few dollars each. There was no additional tax charged. I probably would have bought more stuff but I ran out of cash.
The owner seemed really friendly and gave me some advice on replanting. he does all the grafting and whatnot himself, so you can be proud to support a local business, if that’s your thing.
bring cash, it’s a small business, and it costs him money to accept credit cards.

Today was my first visit, and I am never, ever, going anywhere else for my trees. In fact, Phil is so knowledgable and genuine, I will always go to him before I step foot in another nursery. If he doesn’t have it, he’ll special order it. What more could you ask for?
The variety and quality is exceptional. His knowledge and willingness to share it is unmatched.
This really is a special place, and I encourage anyone who is interested in gardening to stop by, if only just to meet Phil. :)

This nursery and it’s owner Phil makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy, because what he has created is a labor of love and he takes a lot of time and care to help his customers select the right tree for them and to educate them how to take care of it. Sad, because businesses like this are so rare now, replaced by big box stores where knowledge and experience have been replaced by the bottom line and not much else.
We bought our dwarf lemon tree from Phil, as well as one of the awesome half wine barrel planters, soil, and organic fertilizer. He answered all of our questions and helped my husband load everything in. Since it’s been over 100 degrees for a week we were concerned about the tree and called Phil several times to ask questions. He had been incredibly helpful and gracious, and we are already thinking about adding another tree (graft apple maybe?) to our yard. Great business!

The owners is an avid growers he carries a lot of plants and some exotic too. I first visited last winter and saw some cool plants. Most fruits are grafted so that means you will get one plant with many varieties of fruits. How awesome is that? That’s like buy one get three free plants! hahaha (seriously)
If you are into gardening this place is for you. You know you can trust this place because the owner live there… you will know when you visit.
Call the owner first before you go pick your greens. Trust me you will save time and money!
