George Hsieh, MD – Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery

Dr. Hsieh is professional and friendly. He listens well and addresses the issues right away. I needed him to complete some paperwork for an application letter and he did it concisely and in a very timely manner. His office is busy because he’s a good doctor. And his assistant, Brandy, is awesome. I will continue to see Dr. Hsieh for as long as needed.

If I could I want to give no star… rushing rushing rushing. Didn’t even sat with new patient. He told me he doesn’t have a crystal ball. So he doesn’t know if it will get heal later. He is worst doctor ever.

Not professional !!! Always rush. If you don’t feel well and need a good doctor, don’t see George Hsieh.
My husband visited 3 times and did exam, this doctor said he didn’t know why or what caused the rash.

Terrible experience as a first time patient! It’s like this guy has never dealt with a scared and emotional patient. At the first sign of tears & fear, his demeanor changed. He refused to treat me and sent me on my way with an Rx. Keep your emotions at bay if you decide to see this guy!!! On the plus side — his staff and nurse were friendly and nice!

His work may be good but be very careful about paying your deductible. Make sure you have truly NOT met your deductible if you have another family member on your plan. This office is very good at making sure you pay that. So beware! I’m still trying to get my money back. It’s been two telephone calls and three weeks later… I’m still waiting. Seems like I need to go back and hound down the accounting person, by the way which is not always there.

Within a couple months of starting treatment, my skin had drastically improved! Dr Hsieh is very knowledgeable and shows concern for patients’ well-​being.

This dude really knows his stuff, his office staff is very competent, and we never get crazy overinflated bills making him better than like 90% of any other docs in the area.

first and only time to visit Dr Hsieh and I wasn’t very impressed and will not visit again. He seemed pretty rushed and not very friendly. He answered my questions though and prescribed medicine as I requested. When leaving he didn’t even show me the way out, he was already talking to the other staff down the hall which I thought was rude.

At this stage, I am not looking for wrinkle cream, cosmetic surgery or a great bedside manner. Nor do I want a «chit-​chatty» feel good session with a healthcare professional. How about competency, thoroughness, getting all questions answered and feeling well informed when leaving. I’ll take those attributes. Plus, the ability to have an efficient visit. Easy to schedule. Doctor sees you relatively close to the time scheduled and you do not sit in a waiting room with twenty people and lose an hour and you get all the time you need with the doctor without feeling rushed. That is what I have found with Dr. Hsieh and his staff.
Another point. With dermatologists in particular, there are those that are in it for the money and want to sell and perform expensive and non-​insurance-​covered cosmetic procedures. That may play well in Beverly Hills or among the face-​lift crowd. I had two prior dermatologist where that was the focus and when I went in for a simple skin condition it was obvious this was a distraction to the main event of making big bucks for surgically induced transient cosmetic results. But, if you want a «medically focused» practitioner, that is what you will get with Dr. Hsieh. Hey, I do not go in for wrinkles. I go in when I have a problem. And it gets taken care of in a medical context.
Highly recommended.

He is always rushed and abrupt. I went in for surgery and he was charging me for various things that didn’t make sense. He was very short and rude with his answers when I asked a few questions about the surgery. Just didn’t make me feel comfortable about him cutting my skin when he was so rushed.

BEWARE. This place charges outrageous fees for simply appointments. It not only affects you but the over all demise of the health care costs in general. I would not recommend this place.

Excellent doctor! Very knowledgeable, straight to the point, and truly concerned about you. The only reason I am not giving him 5 stars is because of:
1. Super ultra fast appointment. I wish he could have listened to my concerns a little more
2. The staff is super friendly, but I did not like the fact that the doctor and 2 assistants were in the room for the entire time. I wish the appt could have been a more private one between me and the doctor.
But overall, the prescriptions were good and I saw improvement in my skin the next day. Great doctor!

Absolute worst doctor. Extremely unprofessional. Was in a rush to perform the procedure, he went out for a smoke while staff was preparing the surgery kit. Reeked of smoke on his breath when he came back in. Takes money up front (which is fine). Says they will reimburse after getting the claim from insurance (which he didn’t). My insurance had paid him as well. Instead of returning the money, it needs the patient to follow up with Hsieh billing who start giving you the run around. Try your best to avoid this guy. Try Dr. Bernard Recht he is way more professional and better.
Was extremely condescending when explaining the reason for wart. Rushed into performing the minor procedure, the success rate is extremely low since there is a good chance it will come back. Normally I do my homework before I go to a doctor. With Hsieh I didn’t since my family doc referred me to him. It turns out that my family doc had just pulled up his name as closest to where I live. I will tell my family doc not to recommend him anymore.
Extremely bad experience.

Went in two weeks ago to get a 2^nd mole looked at and removed. In that visit, Dr. Hsieh said my mole that I got removed 11 months ago was «pre-​cancerous». He said that his office called me, which they did not. I asked him what this meant, do I have cancer, etc. He said I do not have cancer but I have dysplastic nevus and would need to get seen every 3 – 6 months for check up. So, I get this 2^nd mole removed and he said if I don’t receive a call from his office, everything is fine.
Last night, I received a message from his office. Since he said if I don’t receive a call everything is fine, I took this message as everything is not fine. So in addition to my worry of having been diagnosed w/​dysplastic nevus, I was extra worried about this message. I called in this morning and one of the medical assistants spoke to me.
Basically, they misdiagnosed me. I do not have dysplastic nevus. One of the aides wrote it incorrectly in my file. They had me stressed out confused worried and highly anxious this past 2 weeks over nothing! I told the assistant to mail me my medical file so I can read it myself. I also told them that their office is unprofessional and unorganized. Misdiagnosing someone like that with having pre-​cancerous mole is not ok.
Good news is I don’t have the disease and I’m ok. I just hope they don’t do this to other people. I also rec’d a call back from Dr. Hsieh and he told me everything is fine and they misdiagnosed me and he apologized. I’m ok w/​the apology. I know mistakes happen which is why I’m not going to take other measures for pay back of mental anguish that caused.

My normal Dr did not have a Thursday or Friday appt for a long time, so I decided to try this one when the office referred me to their «other office.» BIG mistake! High prices, tried to book multiple appts for one procedure, condescending staff, and a Dr. who doesn’t speak well of the Dr who referred me. When I asked for more detail on the recommended procedure he said it sounded like I had trust issues. I walked out before anything was done so I asked for a credit on my way (they charge up front before the appt).

Simply put Dr. Hsieh is unprofessional and irresponsible. Similar to other patient experiences, he tried to rush through my appointment. He spent less than five minutes with me. He became very irritated when I started asking him about what he was prescribing me and about other potential treatments. The rebate form I was given suggests he was prescribing a medicine that was marketed to him by a drug company. I wouldn’t be surprised if he finds more value in country club vacations from drug companies, than his patient’s care. The most irresponsible act on his part was to write down a diagnosis, then tell me to look it up on the internet so we can discuss it when I come back for a follow up. Most doctors highly discourage people from looking things up on the internet because it leads to radical diagnosis and unnecessary anxiety for patients. It was reckless for Dr. Hsieh to encourage me to do research on the internet. The ethically correct thing to do would have explained what the diagnosis was and the treatment options.
The cherry on top of this whole awful experience is I was significantly overcharged for my service. It took over six weeks to get refunded. Every time I called the accountant there was a different excuse: First call: their system was down and they would call me back. No call back. Second call: «We haven’t received the check from your insurance company, we’ll call you back.» No call. Third call: «We haven’t received the check from your insurance company, we’ll call you back.» No call. Fourth call: On a three way call with the insurance company, who confirms they cashed the check a week ago. The accountant claim they will process the refund and call me back in a couple days. No call or refund. Fifth call: I tell them I’m going to Dr. Hsieh’s office to get the refund processed. They panic and take my bank information right away. They then comment that they will give me a refund even though they haven’t received payment. Refund hits my bank account five days later.
I hope this review will make Dr. Hsieh improve how he runs his practice.
