Eye Luv Lucy Optometry

I’m a regular patient, and never had any problems until today. However, these problems are major enough that they may warrant me switching to a new eye doctor!
I woke up this morning with what I suspect is pink eye, so I made an emergency appointment to rush over and have it checked out. Dr. Yen gave me a free sample of some prescription eye drops, and said it should clear up in a couple days. However, when I got home, I noticed that the medicine was expired — WAY expired (as in, expired in early 2014). I immediately called the office back, and the receptionist took down my number so she could have Dr. Yen call me back.
About 30min later, the receptionist called back to say the expired medicine shouldn’t have done any damage, k cool bye! I managed to catch her before she hung up to ask what I’m supposed to do now — my eye hurts, the medicine was supposed to alleviate that pain, and now I am stuck just dealing with this pain? The receptionist agreed to talk to Dr. Yen AGAIN and then call me back.
I’m certainly no medical expert, but giving away medication that has been expired for TWO YEARS seems like a wildly irresponsible practice. My case of pink eye seems to be fairly mild, but what if it wasn’t? I definitely don’t feel comfortable going to a doctor that isn’t capable of checking the box before giving it to me. It’s a shame, because I really liked Dr. Yen previous to this — very friendly, keeps the appointments quick so I’m not there all day… But expired medications is a major red flag!

I had a wonderful experience at Eye Luv Lucy Optometry. Dr. Yen was very personable, professional, and helpful. She did a thorough exam and discussed my options with me. Their hours, availability, and location are all great for me. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend her.

This place is a fraud. My wife had to cancel her appointment because she couldn’t get a confirmation. But without a visit, she was billed in thousands for exam and contact lens. My insurance promptly removed the fraudulent activities, but this was a great waste of my time.

Extremely disappointed with the services. These are fraud in terms of products they offer and services. Please don’t not fall under the trap of getting any kind services. They will be nice during initial visit when your place a order and if there is any problem found after picking the glasses or lenses the next day the doctor won’t even see you. They most rude representatives you even come across plus they over charge for the frames and up sell the services like expensive frames and over coated glasses. I’m going to report them to Consumer court for the fraud.

DON’T COME TO THIS PLACE!!! Overpriced, and purposely only gave me a partial prescription. It took a total of 3 weeks to receive my full glasses and contact prescription. They kept making excuses why they wouldn’t send it to me because I wasn’t buying my glasses and contacts from her.

Worst experience of my life. Do not come here. Unprofessional staff that does not provide proper medical care or have your best interests in mind. Their only priority is sales, even when you’re trying to address a medical need. They don’t keep appointments (you’ll wait in the lobby for hours) and they will refuse to give you your medical records upon request. Instead, they’ll try to sell you more products and hold your records hostage. I’m now waiting to see another doctor because of an issue that may have resulted from the lack of care at this office. Stay away!

«Eye» don’t love Lucy. I am a local customer and I really tried to give this store a chance. And I’ve tried really hard to restrain myself from posting a negative review. I’ve tried to forget my bad experiences. But, nearly three years later, they STILL keep spamming me with text messages and phone calls («You’re past due for an eye appointment»). I’ve asked to be removed from their list, and they keep contacting me, and it just keeps reminding me of what a bad experience I had. So, Eye Luv Lucy, please remove people from your list when they text back and ask to be removed. And here is why I had a bad experience. (1) The store isn’t always open during posted hours. Twice I showed up to find it closed during posted hours. By itself that would be a minor annoyance, but combine it with this: (2) They use really cheap coating on the lenses. Here starts my saga. I ordered glasses and asked for no coating. No anti-​glare coating, no anti-​scratch coating, just no coating at all. In the past I have had issues with the coating flaking off. I got my glasses, and lo and behold, only 6 months later I noticed flaking on the lenses. I call the store and ask why there is coating flaking off, when I specifically ordered no coating. They blamed it on «the lab» and said it’s some sort of mandatory coating (even though I deliberately specified no coating, and they didn’t say anything about mandatory coating at the time). After about 9 months my lenses were unusable. Everything was fuzzy because the coating was flaking off and basically pockmarked across my field of vision. Fast forward after 6 weeks of negotiation. They FINALLY replaced my lenses, but only after I made multiple requests. (Actually the first person I talked to said I had to go back to the lab and discuss it with them myself. Really? My optometrist passes the buck and sends ME to talk to the lab? But then someone else got involved and agreed to go back to the lab for me. I shouldn’t even have to know it’s the lab; they should just stand behind their product!) And, by the way, they CHARGED me for the replacement lenses — specifically $ 35 for shipping my lenses back to the lab. Really? So after all this hassle, I wear my new lenses for another 8 months and… guess what? They start flaking. AGAIN. Once again they gave me coated lenses, and AGAIN they’re flaking. So twice in 18 months I have bad lenses. This time I took the lenses to a different optometrist. They explained that coating should never flake in less than 2 years, and even that only happens if you wear your lenses in harsh conditions, and for most people it will be at least 4 years before it flakes off. The only way coating could flake as fast as what I experienced, said the other optometrist, is if Eye Luv Lucy is using the cheapest possible coating from a sub-​par lab. So I got my third set of lenses at a different optometrist. A year later, no flaking. And a year later, Eye Luv Lucy is still sending me text messages and voice mails that I’m late for my next appointment. Please stop spamming me!

You pay what you get… You can go to COSTCO and wait with a crowd of people and get minimum service with B average glasses OR you can go to EYE LUV LUCY and get
one on one attn and help with picking the best frames for you and higher end quality.
I am glad my husband and I bought our glasses here. We paid a little more but we believe that something you will wear everyday for the next 2 years should be perfect. They make
sure that their customers walk out happy.

Went for the the first time last week. Every year I tried a different doctor. Usually because I’m not satisfied with the one I have. Doctor Yen was very on point with my eye got my version where I wanted it fast and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and let’s not forget cute. After a hour in there I was out the door a happy camper. Will come back again for doctor and staff.

Great place with pretty thorough testing. The Dr. Took her time educating me and based her opinion off a series of tests. It’s a cute store and in a perfect location. I will be back!

This place is great a bit pricey but the great service I received from Pauline was definitely worth every penny.

I have to say Dr. Yen and her staff are very personable as well as accomodating. They even listened to me vent after a hard work week. Which is rare these days. I appreciate the fact that they listened to my every concern and found ways to rectify any issues that I had.
I am thankful for all of their hardwork considering technical difficulties. Pauline and Jessica thank you so much for your kindness!

For all of the above I am willing to travel almost 30 miles from home to patron Eye Luv Lucy Optometry.

I am going to start off by recommending that you do not come here unless you are ok with being charged incorrectly and lied to MULTIPLE times! I went to Eye Luv Lucy a year ago and am just writing my review now because after 2 visits and 5 +++ phone calls I am done giving them a chance
Pro:
The shop is gorgeous with a great selection of frames and lenses in a great location on Lincoln Ave.
Cons:
— I have never been lied to by employees so many times at any establishment in my life!
First I was given different prices on my contact lens exam. I was not told of the entire price of the exam until after the fact.
— Second, they Billed my insurance for contacts I NEVER got! (went there to get an exam and was going to fill my prescription online due to their contact prices being too high and then they billed my insurance and used my $ 150 allowance of lenses for lenses I never ordered nor got! So because of this I had to call my insurance and have them reverse the charges! They lied to the insurance and then stated that because we didn’t get the contact lenses at their place of business, then now we owe them additional money? Are you kidding me!!!
Lastly and this was the final straw and what prompted me to write this review. I submitted an order online for more contacts on the day before my prescription was about to expire. Now if you are familiar with ordering them online, the company needs to verify to prescription. So now you can guess what happened… they declined to give my prescription because they are claiming I owe them money (WOW!) Then finally she said that she would email me the prescription and guess what… no email. So I called again and she lied and said that the email was down? Are you kidding me?
Anyway, rather than continue to be stressed out and keep calling them back I gave up and went to go another eye exam somewhere else.
Pro-​tip — Eye Luv Lucy if you are reading this message — please please please get your act together. I know that you are in business to make money but you don’t have to make money by ripping people off. If you treat people with kindness and respect they will continue to shop at your store and might even pay a little more for the extra service. Then they will tell their friends and family to come shop at your location. Take care of your customers and they will take care of you.

A review is a review. Based on experience and quality. A business reflects the overall experience. This place is way overpriced for glasses. They mark the prices up to compensate for the expensive rent in willow glen. Small selection of glasses. Bought a groupon deal which led to me to believe that the glasses are going to prices reasonably. Had no choice but to purchase glasses because of the groupon deal. Turn around rate to get the glasses is also poor. The eye exam was also poorly done. Wasn’t explained well enough. The owner does not take feedback very well.

I just went into this shop last week for the first time and was very happy with the experience. Everyone, including other patients were very friendly and helpful!
The receptionist was very kind and welcoming. She juggled many things (phone, multiple clients, and training someone new) all at the same time. She helped me try on many frames and I made a great decision! When it came to billing she even helped me figure out my double coverage by calling the insurance company right there with me. Please note that this was right around closing time on a Friday! And a long weekend! But I did not feel rushed at all, I’m looking forward to going to pick up my new frames!
The doctor was very nice and informative. We talked about some of the issues I was having and she gave me a lot of practical advise I have already been applying to my daily eye care routine. She even walked me through some of the imaging and helped me to understand what I was looking at.
Yes, the frames are pricey. However, this isn’t the optical department at Walmart. So if you are looking for cheap, common frames from a big corporation don’t come here.
If you are looking for unique frames at a cute shop in fun downtown Willow Glen I think you would luv EYE LUV LUCY!
Not so sure what all the negativity is about on these reviews! Maybe the shop was in transition, but it seems to be moving in a great direction as of Friday.

DONT COME TO THIS PLACE! Don’t make the mistake I did. I thought they were going to better then the reviews on here but I was wrong.
First, the lady in the front desk wasn’t professional at all and put a really fake personality.
Second: The frames and lenses are over priced. The frames that I liked were over $ 400! That is ridiculous and that’s without the lenses, which here another $ 100.
Lastly, they lie a lot on the pricing. When I first called in they said an exam would cost $ 120, which I thought was reasonable. When I showed up the lady at the front desk tells me that it was $ 134 when I was picking the frames but after I decided not to get any frames the price changes to $ 178? I ask her why it was more and she said because of the math she did wrong? Ok?
The doctors was really nice but what ruined the whole experience for me was the lady in the front desk.
They just want to take your money and trick you into paying more. I DEFINITELY DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AND REGRET COMING

I don’t really know where to start.
Maybe I’ll start with DO NOT COME HERE!
We were here a year ago and it took FOREVER (2 and a half hours forever) so I wasn’t to happy about going back.
My fiancé and I came in today and he had to fill out some paper work and the receptionist mentioned that he would need to get his pupils dilated and he would need to come back or they could take a picture and it would be $ 35. So we decided no thanks.
Then the doctor and what we thought was a patient (I’ll get to that again) were having an argument, so we waited for that to be done. He finally got taken into rhe the exam room 30 minutes after his original appointment time. And as I was sitting in the waiting area the cops come in!
The receptionist then comes up to apologize and tells me and others that they are in the process of firing someone who refuses to leave (the girl we thought was a patient).
My fiancé comes out of the exam room PISSED, which isn’t like him, I’m usually the mad one. And the doctor doesn’t seem to know much about what insurance covers.
Then in the exam room he asked for his pupil distance and the doctor refused to give it to him and said he can only get frames from that store. Then the doctor told him she would email him his prescription because she couldn’t do it right then (I’m guessing because of the girl that wouldn’t leave but she should have focused on him and the other patients and then worried about the girl that wouldn’t leave). He was told that he would get the email with his prescription that day but it never came. He waited a couple of days and called and the receptionist didn’t know what he was talking about and said she would talk to the doctor. He called a WEEK later and the receptionist said «oh did we say that» WTF?! He FINALLY got the prescription but its safe to say we will NOT be coming back here.

I originally only gave a two star review but after numerous unpleasant emails from the owner/​Dr. regarding my review, I downgraded the store to a one star review. If you notice, most of the Dr.‘s responses to reviews point blame at everyone else but herself, the business owner.
More importantly she has still yet to respond, after numerous requests, to my main complaint about the HUGE markup on her glasses?

I have a hard time writing a negative review for a small business in Willow Glen, especially knowing how hard it is to run a small business, but BUYER BEWARE!
As a local resident who likes to support local businesses, I recently visited Eye Luv Lucy to purchase a pair of sunglasses. The office is very vibrant and I like the look and feel of it, adds great charm to Lincoln Ave but that is where the positive experience ends unfortunately.
The person at the front desk was helping someone look at glasses, doing an eye test with a patient and trying to help me all at the same time while the Dr. was tending to a patient. The problem lies in that she left a patient sitting at an eye testing station for 10 minutes +, not paying much attention to him while she was with him, then would just randomly get up to try a pair of glasses on a customer then trying to help me all while answering the phone. I would be mid sentence and she would interrupt me to answer the phone. I felt bad for the patient and the customer as they were just left sitting there numerous times with no explanation. I understand running a small business is hard but you can’t juggle that many people and leave a good experience for the customer.
I eventually picked out my sunglasses, the Dr. came out to help the front desk and without knowing where I was in my buying stage just kept asking for my information and if I was ready to buy… I told her I need a receipt to submit to my insurance then I would come back to purchase the glasses. She printed my receipt and I left.
I returned a week later to the same experience. Two customers were trying on glasses and the person upfront was juggling the two customers, the phone and myself. Again jumping from person to person and being very short. Again, I understand she could be busy so I gave her the benefit of the doubt.
Where my BIG PROBLEM lies is I had picked out a pair of Tom’s sunglasses in the office that sold for $ 215 non-​polarized the week before. When I left after the first visit, I went on Tom’s website to see other versions of the style I had picked out and to show my wife. Upon my shock the same sunglasses I had picked out were $ 119 MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price) on Tom’s site. That means Eye Luv Lucy marked their glasses up $ 96 over MSRP which is unheard of!!! I could have bought the polarized version on Tom’s for $ 159 still cheaper…
I again gave Eye Luv Lucy the benefit of the doubt and asked the woman upfront why there was such a drastic mark up above MSRP and that it was not right? She ran in circles in her explanations and eventually said it was shipping costs and they are not a big box retailer and rent is more. I understand that but a $ 96 mark up? She was very vague and I asked multiple times to speak with the doctor/​owner and was told she was busy. Finally she took my number down to have the doctor call me and to this day, a week later I have not received a call??? I will tell you the two customers in the store that day had raised eye brows and looked surprised too.
I want to support local business but between the HUGE mark up on glasses and the very poor customer service, I would never go back. Go to Visual Eyes across the street. They are so friendly, take care of you one on one until your done, and have fair prices. And I am still supporting local too.

I went to Eye Luv Lucy Boutique, I absoultly fell in love with the office, and Dr. Lucy.
Every one here is professional, but blend their professional nature with a personal touch. I’m often daunted when having to seek services I’m not familiar with (in this case visual assistance), but the great staff at this office offset my nervousness with their kind, gentle, and helpful demeanor.
When I first called to set up my appointment, the person who answered the phone walked me through what my specific insurance plan provided for me, fleshed out what the jargon meant, and made me feel more confident in my appointment. After experiencing a couple of hiccups with my insurance, instead of foisting the problem onto me and insisting I figure out what was going on with my coverage, the people at the office did the work for me, quickly resolving the problem and making sure I was taken care of for my visit. During my visit, Dr. Lucy was kind, gentle mannered, and took a knowledgeable holistic approach to my vision problem. When I returned to pick out my glasses, Janely sat with me, brought out a great number of samples for me to try and was patient as I had to text others to solicit advice on what pair to pick.
I can’t speak enough praise about this place! If you’re looking for an optometrist and office who really know how provide excellent service, are above and beyond professional, but will make you feel comfortable and at ease this is the spot!

I found this place from a great deal through Amazon Local to get $ 150 off of RX glasses or sunglasses. I ABSOLUTELY love my Juicy Couture shades. I definitely would not have came here sans the Amazon deal, but was very thankful to come across it.
It’s funny how the majority of comments are based off of bad customer service. The ladies that served me were professional and nice and made sure to contact me when my sunglasses were finally ready. They took awhile in the lab from a mistake that was made, but it was eventually cleared up. They took a little longer than usual in the lab, but I guess good things come to those who wait. Overall, I thank Eye Luv Lucy for the deal and their professionalism towards the progress of my sunglasses. :)
