Description

Specialties

The best infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten, & after school program in the South Bay! Located right off of 85/Camden; serves San Jose, Almaden, Campbell, Los Gatos, etc.

Creative Minds combines emergent curriculum & hands-on creative approaches of Reggio Emilia schools of Italy with strong reading, writing, math & science components.

We offer opportunities for creative learning & thinking outside the box, to set a strong foundation for a life time of curiosity and learning. Our graduating kindergarteners should normally expect to be at a 2nd grade level in reading, writing and math; in addition to having developed hands-on interest in Science, Music, Drama, Art, Organic Gardening, & Physical Education.

Hailed as an exemplary model of early childhood education (Newsweek, 1991), the Reggio Emilia approach to education enables children to think outside the box, building on their interests, working in teams to discuss & innovate to solve problems, learning as a community.

History

Established in 2009.

Richa is the founder/director for Creative Minds.

When Richa moved to San Jose in 2008, she looked around for innovative Child Development Centers in the San Jose area. She found certain programs that were focused on military styled rote learning putting unneeded pressure on impressionable young children, while traditional montessori programs focused more on linear thinking and individualistic work. Richa found some large employer only programs (like Google, Cisco, etc) that had the cutting edge child focused emergent curriculum and Reggio Emilia like group working approach that helps our children grow socially savvy. She found the San Jose Childrens Discovery Museum’s Infant & Preschool area very apt to her experience of previous programs she had established.

So, Richa decided to open Creative Minds in San Jose; essentially starting from scratch, and has pulled together a solid team of teachers, and they now have rave reviews from the parents & community,
