Compassionate Health Options

I wanted to do an update as my last review (for the Oakland location regarding Dr Solomon) was not a great experience. Dr Hanya (the founder) immediately called me after having posted the Unilocal review to extend her apologies and talked to me for about 15 minutes and even did a follow up call. THAT to me is compassionate health care. She went above and beyond. For that reason, I wanted to give the San Jose location a try as I needed to new card. The front office helper, Tina, was fantastic! Great personality, very friendly. It’s always surprising when people are genuinely nice and it’s the second time that Compassionate Health Options impressed me with yet another awesome front office person. I met with Dr Weiss and he immediately apologized for my last experience-​again not necessary but very kind. He was fantastic. He took the time to further educate me on different cannabis strains. Overall, regardless of my first experience, I will continue to return. Thank you to Dr Hanya, Dr Weiss, Tina for their good energy and helpfulness!

Christina the receptionist is an absolute delight !!! She is sweet and informative. The doctor is helpful and genuine.

The receptionist and doctor were absolutely wonderful. I was very nervous going in, but they made the environment feel warm and non-​judgmental. The doctor not only gave the recommendation, but also gave other suggestions on how I could help alleviate some of my pain, so it felt more personal, and like she really cared about how I was doing even though she didn’t really know me.
All in all it was a very good experience, and I would recommend it to any one who was looking into getting a medical cannabis recommendation.

The doctor there was amazing; super professional and caring. She went over everything with me and I learnt a lot. I felt like I had a counseling visit along with my visit.

Great facility to meet with a Prop 215 Dr. I called Thursday to make a Friday appt at the SJ location (This SJ office is open only Fridays?) and arrived a little late due to the traffic but in all the appt was a total of 35 mins. 10 mins with the receptionist, paying and getting my documents ready (I filled this out via the email confirmation the night before to save time) and also getting my blood pressure taken.
Very legit. I have had prior experience with Medican but I did not want to go up to SF for my visit. I showed her my old Medican stuff and I received a Renewal charge which was 65 and she asked if I wanted the $ 15 ID card (optional). So total out the door was $ 80. I provided my previous information as well as my meds I take now through Kaiser. I printed out my Kaiser on-​going health conditions and they scanned a copy into their system.
The visit with the doctor was straight forward, he asked why I needed MMJ and I told him my reasons, he proceeded to ask me several questions about my intake, how often and what quantity, which strains as well as any adverse effects in the last few years from my pharmaceutical RX via Kaiser.
Then checked my breathing, my reflexes, checked my neck and throat, eye movement, and did ask when I go to visit my doctor at Kaiser next to email or fax over a copy of that report to check my progress.
I was very happy to have my card back and I will recommend folks who are in need to seek this place out, they are professional and considerate.

If all you want is a recommendation for medical marijuana and not much more, this is the place!
After reading their website, bringing my medical records plus a list of all my medications, and being told that my appointment would be about an hour, I expected a much more thorough «exam» from the doctor. I have insomnia and anxiety problems and thought I would also be counseled on different lifestyle changes and/​or other remedies in addition to cannabis. Nope, and while the main point of my appointment was to get a medical marijuana recommendation, I did expect a little more than what I got. During the appointment, the doctor asked for my medical records. Kaiser had given me a CD with my records… but that’s not what he wanted. He just wanted my medical summary which you can get at
. I thought he would review my medical records with me but didn’t. I think they just need a copy of the medical records for legitimacy purposes.
I was told that the appointment would be an hour… but an hour includes meeting with the receptionist, getting my BP taken, paying, and then getting my paperwork in order. The meeting with the doctor is only about 15 minutes. I was the first appointment of the day but when I left the exam room, there were two people waiting.
Afterwards, I asked the receptionist about the hour appointment time and she said to «allow an hour» which includes any wait time before or after the doctor appointment and the paperwork.
I got my recommendation and am using a CBD-​rich tincture that seems to be working.
I’m sure that office space is expensive which is probably why they are in a location that is rundown. The office itself is clean… but don’t expect anything nice like your doctor’s office.
I’ll probably go back to renew unless there’s someplace cheaper.

Dr. Weiss was very knowledgeable and made the process very easy. I would recommend any of my friends or family to him. Best place to go for a recommendation or renewal for sure

Not happy with their service this year — they say they won’t «price match» in San Jose. I’ve got cards offering renewals for $ 39.00. They won’t match it (San Jose only — I could go to S. Cruz or Oakland and they would match the $ 39.00 price, but not in San Jo. They would not even let me speak to Dr. Weiss.). I’ve been going here since 2002 — I saw Dr. Barth originally in Oakland. My card from the Oakland Cannibis Buyers Club is #8113!!! I’ve been getting my card since 2002 — truly old school!
No way me or my hubby are paying $ 69.00 for a renewal. They totally lost our business. Oh well!

I’m relatively old and I’m brand new to the whole world of medical marijuana. But after trying everything for my degenerating, agonizing spinal disease and wanting to avoid opioids, I took the plunge and made an appointment. I expected the place to be a scene out of The Wire.
Instead it’s a real clinic with kind, professional and understanding adults. I saw Dr. Grant Weiss who is close to my age, very knowledgable, and totally reassuring.
What I expected to be a scary ordeal turned into an educational experience. I left with new options and feeling hopeful that I’ll have less pain and a better qualify of life.
Totally recommend.

This place is great! Its open on Fridays from 11 – 4, and is located on the 7 th floor of the building. No bother going anywhere else.

I just went back for my second year. I made an appointment a few days ahead. I was able to see the same doctor. Dr. Grant Weiss understands my physical limitations and treats me with care and respect.

I was referred by a friend, and although I am well ‘qualified’ it was still a jarring experience. I saw Dr. Weiss, and he was terrific to meet and made the appointment pleasant and informative!
Like Other Reviewers, here is how I was in and out, on the same day of making the online appointment:
— Fill your application out on the computer THEN print and Sign.
— Bring current prescriptions
— Be honest
Everyone is nice and informative, and I WILL be referring others who are searching for similar options.

This place is GREAT! I made an appointment online and was seen the very next day! I made sure to do all the necessary preparation before my appt:
1) read ALL directions on the web site
2) filled out then printed the questionnaire
3) printed out the page that listed my condition from my hospital’s website
4) printed out a list of all of the medical tests I had done
5) printed out a list of all of my medications and their Rx numbers
5) obtained a signed hard copy letter from my doc verifying my condition
Because I had everything with me and I had the questionnaire already filled out, it was all done in ONE DAY! Can you believe it? I got to their office around 2pm, my blood pressure and weight were checked, went in with the doc for about 20 — 30 minutes, then it was back to the receptionist (who was extremely nice) to get copies of the recommendation letter and my cannabis card. I was out the door by 3:30pm.
I’m one happy camper now!

It was a great experience! I stopped byafter I had surgery and the Doctor was the best! I’m glad I chose them!

cheap. renewed my card. made an appointment the front desk was very nice and helpful… the Dr. is also very professional and wants to know our medical history and see if cannabis is the right thing for you. Will def keep on coming back here to renew my card

I made an appointment for 2 hrs in the future, got there 20 minutes ahead of time and there was no one waiting so I went right in. Plenty of parking off street free parking. Nice folks, The doctor had some recommendations I had not heard of before for a couple of issues. I was in and out in 30 minutes with my card.

I was a bit worried at first – the building it’s in is pretty ghetto. However, the interior of the actual office is very nice, with some comfy leather couches.
The office staff are wonderful – very courteous, and they didn’t try to push extra charges (like the ID Card) onto me.
The doctor was fantastic. We talked about other exercises I could do (besides lighting up) to help my pain. He explained the best ingestion methods for someone with my body type and medical history. He also explained how I should approach dispensaries as a first time medical cannabis user.
If you’re looking to score some pot for another six months, there are cheaper options in San Jose, but if you actually want to use marijuana as part of a comprehensive plan for a happier and less painful life, this is the place to go.
