My recent addiction is called a Hazelnut Americano and is hella good.

Came in for an iced hazelnut coffee. Perhaps it was the ice or hazelnut syrup, but I didn’t taste a lot of coffee. My drink cost $ 2.99, which I believe cost more than Starbucks for the size? Not sure! Seems like there are a lot of regulars at this place since there are apartment buildings down the street. I sat there using wifi for a few minutes and could hear the baristas saying bye to customers by their name. There are some tables and chairs, but probably not a good place to get studying done since it’s so loud.

Coffee is average and not up to barista standard as blue bottle or ritual coffee. It’s more like Dunkin or Gloria bean. If you like hip coffee place, don’t even try this chain.

Service is fast and friendly, and there’s a good selection of drinks other than the usual espresso drinks & lattes. I like that you can get your drink in a ceramic cup/mug if you specify«for here.» There’s lots of seating both inside and out.

Visited CBT last night. I was craving a white hot chocolate. Theirs is definitely delicious! I would describe it similar to the Lindor White Chocolates. Yum! I was surprised at how stocked the pastries were thirty mins before closing. A variety of breads, still had coffee cake and another pastry.

Love love love this place. Coffee is excellent, staff is amazing. Very dog friendly, and the staff is really good about remembering your name. Coming from a former Starbucks guy… I prefer Coffee Bean now. Just wish they had a rewards program.

The soap dispensers in the women’s restroom is broken. Where are the women workers washing their hands after they use the restroom?! It should be a health violation. Also, the wifi here sucks big time. It take 10 mins for Google to load. I ended up just tethering on my phone.

Just your run of the mill coffee shop trying to be the hip new thing. Outlets sporadically around but not outside. So if your trying to get work done don’t come here! Plus the wifi password is one of those stupid jumble of numbers. Just inconvenient, #firstworldproblems Green tea was good +1 star

I am the ultimate fan of coffee bean :) I’ve been coming here for about 2 years after I discovered this location on Unilocal. The ambience is nice, great place to study, wide selection of drinks, and the service is really good. I switch my drink options depending on my taste buds. I usually only went for the Ice Blended. I’ve tried mocha, white mocha, and hazelnut ice blended drinks. My favorite is the mocha because it’s not too sweet. I could also go for a iced mocha latte or iced vanilla latte — both are very good if you want a pick me up. I have tried these drinks hot but I usually just gravitate to the cold drinks. I don’t know if it’s just me but I do like how coffee bean serves their drinks with crushed ice rather than cubed ice. The drink isn’t watered down since most coffee places add too much ice. I love studying at coffee places but this place by far is my absolute fav because the drinks keep bringing me back and it never gets crowded here.

A colleague raved about Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf being her favorite coffee chain so we stopped by after lunch to grab a drink. I drink both coffee and tea, but felt like having some coffee to perk up my afternoon. The dark chocolate iced coffee was pretty good. Strong dark chocolate and coffee flavor without being bitter or overwhelming. I usually brew my own coffee(Peet’s, Trader Joe’s) and tea(David’s Tea, Republic of Tea, etc) at work to save a nominal amount of money, but I love affordable luxuries. Nice place to hang out. Free wifi and smartphone charging stations. It wasn’t busy when we stopped by in the middle of the day, so service and drinks didn’t take very long. Great alternative to Peet’s and Starbucks. One thing that amazes me is that this place is NEVEREVER crowded. You figure, with all these students, techies, and hipsters around San Jose, that this place was going to be your next«Hey let’s hang out at Starbucks» kind of place. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a «Simple drink» order kinda person, whatever sounds appealing on your menu is what I’ll have. But one thing that amazes me is that all their drinks are customizable(?) and I only know this because the person in front of me made 10 different renditions on one drink. Yes. One. Drink. So with that being said, «Can I get a Large Lemon Fruit Tea please?» :)

One of the best things about this place is that it doesn’t get super crowded, even on weekend afternoons(I think this is because of its location, not because of the quality or anything with the store itself). I love that all the drinks are suuuper customizable. Less milk, more coffee, less sweet, no-sugar added(NSA) chocolate/vanilla, etc. The ice blended drinks definitely hit the spot on a hot afternoon. Contrary to what other reviewers have mentioned, the service is generally friendly and fast. Shout out to the barista who dealt with the million and one alterations I requested on my drink AND then remembered my order when I returned to CBTL a few days later to order the exact same drink :) **only thing is that wi-fi was extremely spotty

I must agree with other fellow Unilocalers, wonderful coffee at this CBTL, but TERRIBLE customer service during evening shifts. I came here last Sunday during 5 p.m. & this one worker, who I notice often works the cashier during evening shifts, is always so rude. I asked to order a flat white(similar to a latte, but milk to espresso ratio is different) because I ordered a delicious one from this CBTL last Friday morning. Hoping to experience the same friendly customer service & delicious flat white that I received that Friday morning, the man working the evening shift ruined my experience. When I asked for a flat white, the worker irritably & rudely blurted, «We don’t have that. Starbucks makes that.» I told him that this CBTL made a flat white for me last Friday & a friend of mine always orders one from here. He stared at me with annoyance & said, «I don’t know what that is. I don’t know how to make it.» My encounter with this worker is the last time I’m coming to this CBTL during the evenings. My advice for this CBTL: step up your barista game & if your baristas don’t know much about coffee, at least train them well in customer service!

Always great coming here. The location is open and bright with a nice covered patio. The staff is friendly and coffee is made consistently well. The first CBTL in the South Bay and still reminds me of being in SoCal!

I love their coffee but their customer service needs improvement! The quality of their coffee is comparable to the coffee joints in Puerto Rico. A group of us walked in 15 mins. prior to closing and the baristas were grumpy. Absolutely no greetings nor smile. There is ample indoor/outdoor seating.

I typically prefer my caffeine drinks hot. I have a tendency to devour chilled caffeine drinks too quickly; thus, resulting in a major stomachache 30 minutes later. With this in mind, I often steer away from the chilled drink selection. Therefore, with this place being known for their iced specialties, my husband and I only frequent when it is either sweltering outside, or I am burnt out on my norms from either Starbucks or Peets. Yet, when we do visit, we have always been greeted by friendly workers and served delicious drinks. My latest go to is now their new vanilla blended iced drink served affogato.(Essentially a shot of espresso on top of the ice blended vanilla drink). It provides the perfect energy shot given it is a straight shot of espresso ;)

I usually stick with iced coffee or blended drinks here at CBTL. Since I’ve veered away from blended drinks, I’ve gotten iced coffee twice here at this location. Unlike other coffee places, they use crushed ice here so my coffee gets colder a lot faster. And since their sweetened vanilla or hazelnut iced coffees are so sweet, the dilution and chill does help to lessen the sweetness. I will still come back here for iced coffees if I’m ever back in the area.

CBTL is the home of the original blended iced mocha & theirs is still the best. Unfortunately this location is also the home of the rudest cashier in the world who apparently hates customers with all their pesky needs like, «Do you have any more of these?» «Not if there’s no more out there.» Silly me, thinking that CBTL might have some CBTL branded pods of CBTL house coffee in the store. You would have thought I poured coffee in the cashier’s lap when I dared to ask a follow-up question, «When do you think you might get more in?» «(Sigh.) I don’t handle any of that.» By «that» I guess he meant getting CBTL coffee for CBTL customers like me because, I assure you, «that» didn’t happen. When I lived in LA for a year, I went to CBTLs at least 5 days a week and never had a bad experience so it seems like this guy is just a bad apple. Still, no blended mocha is worth a double shot of attitude.

CBTL… How do I love thee? Let me count the ways… I love thee each & every day, Fore work, its coffee I obey… Far from a stodgy, routine stop, Without you I’d most surely drop… 3 shots, though often shoot for 4, Barista’s spot me through the door… Like Norm on Cheer’s, they know my name, V.I.P. Status, I doth claim… Friendly smiles, the staff astounds, Amour atop these coffee grounds… Oh how I yearn on weekend days, So close, but yet so far away… I’ll see you soon, when week begins, Back to the grind, cause work attends… (Shot out to Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Sonnet 43)
