CLC Cool Looking Concrete

Let me start off by saying our driveway turned out amazing! I called almost every concrete company in the South Bay area and CLCs prices were competitive while Clint was also the most professional and knowledgeable person we dealt with. His work truly reflects his passion and experience.
Competitors quoted us up to 3k above what CLC did and they were kind of short with the questions we asked (color blending, stamp patterns, leveling, crushed rock usage, sand usage, fracture lines, concrete provider, etc).
We spoke with Clint over the phone a few times and then he came out for a rough estimate (measured square footage, talked about options, etc) and then came back when my wife was home to consult with us over colors and stamp styles (with pictures on his phone) since I am somewhat colorblind.
The end result is amazing. Seriously. A ⁵⁄₅ for construction work is rare unless you pay complete custom prices but CLC is the real deal.
We have family in the LA area that did a 45k concrete job. Eventually, they were given a discount of 15k because of the problems associated with the rebar/​pour/​stamping. When they saw our driveway they were jealous and amazed at the work and wish they had a company like CLC near them.

This is a review of the customer service aspect, I have not had work done by this company. I just called and spoke to Clint about a bad situation with our patio and our landlord and Clint took the time to hear our situation, explain what would need to be done, and even offer some home fix-​it alternatives. Time is valuable, especially to contractors, and I am so grateful that he was kind and took the time to talk to me. Thanks Clint! I hope I can work with you soon!

CLC them just finish working on our backyard patio and we couldn’t be more happier with the result. We removed a pool and there was many challenges involved with doing a new concrete due to grading and very details preparation work and Clint (the owner) was amazing about it. The dirt was compact in different ways and and contain a lot of rocks that needed to be removed.
Clint and his team gave us a quote that was un beatable and timeline was great. They finished the all job of 1400 sq ft including ceiling in 5 weeks. Our backyard looks amazing and is ready just in time for 4^th of July BBQ. Thank you so much!!!

Cool Looking Concrete did an awesome job putting down stamped concrete with color in my back yard. I was impressed from the first time I met Clint the owner by the way he looked around the yard to see what trees, plants, color of the house, shape of the lawn, and came up with a color & stamp design that would make everything pop in the yard ! Had Cool looking concrete come out and put in a new driveway and add in a pathway. They arrived on time, did the demo and clean up. They did a stamp on the concrete and it looks great. They were great to work with and always asked if this is how we wanted it to look like. If it was wrong, they fixed it without delay. I plan on using them again for another project, next year.

Clint and his team are awesome! Clint got back to me within days of my initial inquiry through Unilocal.His quote was very competitive and there were no surprises.
The project consisted of approximately 1800 square feet of concrete. This included removing the old concrete (circa 1951), setting the forms, meticulous grading, pouring new concrete (adding rock and rebar), running rainwater run off lines and installing a post for a gate.
Clint and his team started on a Tuesday and finished one week later. After the driveway cured (one week), Clint and his crew came back to clean up and the end result could not be better!

Two emails, three voicemails, a filled out form on their website, and three weeks later I just got a response…
With a $ 2,500.00 ridiculous minimum.
Three weeks of attempting to speak with someone and set up a meeting for a quote and a ridiculous minimum? No thank you, I will be looking elsewhere.

Simply put, Clint did an amazing job on our driveway. Through the whole process he worked with me on doing almost exactly what I wanted. We had to make some changes along the way to get the proper slope and drainage but all in all, things turned out perfect.
Starting with planning and excavation, base rock and compacting, re-​bar and doing all the prep work etc … he kept things right on schedule and on budget. Then came picking colors and stamp patterns. This is where Clint really helped me out to get it just right. He has a very good sense of what will look good and how to mix and match colors and patterns. You can give him general and vague ideas and he can really nail it just right.
Concrete pour day was probably the most fun. His crew is very fun to hang out with and they all work great as a team. They got the job done very professionally. They all knew exactly what they had to do and when it came time to stamp, they almost made it look way too easy. At the same time Clint was going around and putting his artistic touches with the 5 layers of colors we had picked.
We had some rains come through right after the pour but things weren’t affected and Clint managed things just right. A month later and he came back to pressure wash and seal and WOW … the drive way just popped. Everyone who has seen it can’t believe how good it looks.
Basic hints about dealing with Clint: He runs a small business so you have to be aware of it. He always called me and let me know if he was going to be late or if something had come up. He is very responsible this way. But on the other hand, he is able to give you personal attention and really listen to what you want done. If there are problems he takes care of it personally. I felt comfortable enough to give him the access code to my garage so he could store his tools or do whatever. You just get a very good vibe and feeling about him from the first hand shake :)
I would definitely recommend Clint and Cool Looking Concrete and I most definitely plan to have him do more work around our house (as soon as I save up for new projects!)

CLC is great! Clint was fantastic to work with and their prices are great! CLC poured the concrete for our back patio which was a fairly small job for most concrete contractors. We got several quotes and CLC blew the competition out of the water with much lower prices with more included (stamping and color). Most contractors wouldn’t even consider taking us on as clients because our patio wasn’t a large enough job. Not CLC. They quoted us one week and were ready to pour by the next. We even gave them a very tight window to work in because we were having a birthday party for my 2 year old daughter and they finished the pouring, stamping and sealing with more than a week to spare.
I can’t speak more highly of what a pleasure it was to work with Clint and crew. Clint rarely missed my calls and when he did would return them very promptly. Call Clint, you won’t regret it.

We received a recommendation for Clint. He came out to meet us and came up with some good recommendations. We did the driveway and ended up putting in steps and a retaining wall to raise the lawn and make it level. Clint took extra time to make sure the steps were perfect. He worked on many occasions with my wife to make sure the colors he used matched our house paint. Clint was easy to work with. It was a big job using 14 yards of concrete. The quality of the the job was top notch. We’ll use Clint in the future.

Scheduled appointment for Clint to measure and talk about different options on ³⁄₁₁. He said he would email me the estimate. Haven’t heard from him. Called on Monday, ³⁄₁₈ to follow up, have yet to hear anything as of today. Poor follow-​up service.

We received several quotes to have our driveway replaced with stamped concrete and went with CLC. Clint puts a lot of creativity into the design and also followed all of my requests. Clint and his crew worked hard and did a beautiful job. The only disappointment was that initially the finished driveway was brighter than the color that I had asked for but over time (6 month or so) it darkened to exactly the right color. It has been a year and a half since we had the work done and the driveway looks great. Money well spent.

I had a 1300 sq ft driveway done and now that it’s cured, I can write about it after the test drives.
Clint was great to work with. The initial demolition work and removal was awesome and really fast. Even with a Bobcat, I was amazed he was able to clear everything out in one day. His definitely has an eye for detail and consideration as he went above and beyond to make the driveway work with the patio, aligning the entryway, and even adding in draining. Even at the last day before pouring, I suddenly recognized an error and he was able to accommodate it. It’s refreshing to find someone who still gives really good customer service.

After reading the amazing reviews on Unilocal,I decided to use CLC for about 800 square feet of stamped and colored sidewalk and patio in my backyard. Everything that was said about Clint and CLC is true!!!
Clint was a pleasure to work with! He really knows his stuff. His team worked efficiently and got the job done on schedule. And the price was much lower than any of my other bids!!! He even threw in extra work at no additional cost!!!
Clint has a very artistic eye for concrete and had wonderful suggestions to improve our ideas. He is patient and really listened to our concerns and design ideas. Our new patio looks amazing. The slope is perfect with no pooling. As the concrete cures and lightens I love the colors more and more. From the layout and design, to the stamp pattern, every one of Clint’s suggestions really did improve our initial design.
I HIGHLY recommend Clint and CLC for any of your concrete work, no matter how big or small. CLC is now my go-​to concrete contractor!!!

2. His bid was incredibly reasonable
3. He also offered to throw in extra work at no additional cost, and delivered as promised
4. We liked his creative ideas
The end result? We love the work and we now have the patio and walkway we wanted, and Clint delivered it within our budget, and not a penny over.
Clint and his team took our suggestions /​ad hoc changes before the pour. Both the design of the patio, which was influenced by Clint, and the color, exceeded our expectations.
The next time I need cement work of any kind, I’ll call Clint.

Clint came out and did concrete in the backyard. He did a great job and was quick and efficient. It looked great and it’s been wonderful so far. He gave great price that competed with other companies too.

I really wanted to give CLC a good review but I can’t. We had a new front entryway and back patio put in. I am somewhere in between happy and displeased with the work.
The estimate amount was agreeable and there was a walkway he was going to ‘throw in’. He came to deliver a color sample and mentioned to my husband if we did the front walkway a different way than we had discussed, it would look better. When he came to start the demo we said we’d like to follow his suggestion and he mentioned it would cost more. Fine, we were doing a big change. Then while in my daughter’s room, I heard him outside the window complaining about how much work this job was for not enough money. Granted it was a significant change in front, but he said he’d ‘throw in’ that one section and we PAID him for the change. Totally unprofessional.
Messy, messy, messy. I just had my house painted and he did tell me that concrete pouring is a messy process and I should do it after. Ok, my bad, but there’s a messy process and there’s total disregard for the care of my house. I’m ok doing touch up, having painted the entire interior of my house, but I’m touching up exterior walls, where they didn’t even pour, because of how careless they were. They did absolutely NO prep work to protect my walls.
Little things like, they spray painted hot pink through a planter the outline of the new path: fine, but then they swept the bark over to an existing, and staying planter, so now I have hot pink bark mixed in with good bark. Couldn’t they have just taken the extra two minutes to throw that stuff away? Or marking the conduit to run sprinklers to the new planters, so I didn’t have to dig over twenty feet along the path to find it. I never did find it and I had to call him to come show it to me. I had to ask that he come clean up the mess that was left over: concrete pebbles everywhere, wood from the demo and new forms, debris all over my lawn, buckets, tools.
Instead of bringing their own hoses they used mine and broke 2 of them. Ours were old and I realize the nozzle just rusted off. He tried to use that hose after I had seen that it was broken and didn’t mention it.
There’s finishing details that they could have done that they didn’t. Where it meets existing concrete, for e.g. they could have smoothed it. Or where it meets existing pavers, they had to remove a section but didn’t leave enough width for those to be put back. Now we are going to have to cut those down or have an 11 inch section of dirt between the two sections.
There’s a low point in the walkway to our garage door where we’re going to have a huge puddle of water that collects any time it rains because he didn’t of slope the walkway into the planter.
And most disappointing of all, with the above things I put up with and more, was the crack that developed on the front walkway two weeks after the pour. I know concrete cracks because it shrinks as it dries, however, there are measures to limit this from occurring. I feel that they rushed to get it poured because of a looming storm (in may) and could have prevented it if they’d taken more time.
All that being said, what it comes down to is would I; a. hire him again?; or b. recommend him to friends?, and unfortunately the answer to both is, no.

He helped design the pattern, stamp, and color to best match our house and yard. Clint was very hands on throughout the process and was very communicative along the way. Clint came out last year and did a driveway for me, and I just had him do my back yard patio. As always his work is top notch, and his prices are the best.
