I’ve been back to Casa Vicky several times since I wrote my first review, and I like it better all the time. I haven’t had a repeat of the poor service I experienced on my first visit, and I think the food is great. I especially like the chile Colorado and the homemade flour tortillas. I also discovered that they have real frozen(not blended) margaritas which is reason enough to come here! This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in San Jose. If I keep going back I may have to give them 5 stars!

I called in advance to see if they had a specific soup made. They said they did. I went in waited in a long line to place my order. Then I waited 20 minutes for my soup. I asked where my order was because everybody else who ordered before me and after me was receiving theirs. I figured if mine was pre made, it would be easy to deliver fast. Not only was the soup $ 14 but it only had ONE meatball! When I asked for my soup after waiting they brought it out immediately. So I paid 14 dollar to wait 30 minutes for one meatball and some cabbage.

I ordered a super burrito and my burrito was basically full of refried beans and guacamole. It was good but I ordered a burrito to eat on the go and unfortunately this burrito was falling apart the moment I opened it up. I will order here again for slice avocado and no beans.

I come here every Sunday for family dinner and the food is always good. The chips can be hit or miss(sometimes stale) but the quesadillas are wonderful. Sadly they don’t have ice tea, but the coffee is good.

Negatives: Not great. Ordered chiliquilies, and my boyfriend ordered eggs and chorizo. Both horrible. Chorizo tasted like imitation chorizo. Positives: 1 added star for the great deal on bottomless mimosas = $ 6.95.

I love this place. The food tastes good, it’s clean and the service is friendly every time I go in. I always order the crispy tacos and they are generous with the meat. The margaritas are delicious(blended or not), especially the mango ones! Today I had the flan and Mexican coffee. Both were delicious. The flan was the right texture and temperature. I’ll continue to come here.

I’ve eaten here for over 10 years without incident. Today, after 2years, I brought a friend here. Total FAIL. I ordered the Barbacoa with rice. The Barbacoa had no flavor at all. The rice was not hot and lacked flavor. The flour tortillas, a cornerstone here, were tough and dry. The prices are out of control here. There are better quality, better value restaurants out there.

Review is based on tortillas only… my mom has always bought Casa Vicky tortillas since I was little. They were always so fresh, warm, soft, and delicious! Now that I am in my adult years I have taken the drive to Casa Vicky’s just to buy flour tortillas and lately(like the last year or so) they just don’t taste the same, they have a weird after taste and are not as soft and fresh like they used to be in my childhood years. :( I came today with my sister to buy flour tortillas and they didn’t have any… It was 11am on a Saturday, they should have been stocked up being those are a popular item… so we settled for corn instead $ 7 for a dozen corn tortillas? That’s insane! You can buy a pack of 80 Guerrero tortillas for $ 2…

My friend Monte brought me some enchiladas from Casa Vicky’s and they were incredible! I took my family of 5 two days later and had a sit down meal. The food is some of the best in San Jose. Bought some of the Homemade flour Tortillas and they lasted 1.5 days in my house. Thanks Paulie!!!

This has to be one of the friendliest restaurants in San Jose. The people are SONICE. They clearly take pride in this family business. It has the restaurant, of course, but it also has a nice coffee bar. My family and I sometime stop there for a drink while on a walk(try the Mexican mocha!), and we also buy the freshly made tortillas to bring home. You can watch them make the tortillas, which is pretty cool. If you go there to eat a meal, make absolutely sure you order the nacho fries. Terrible for your health, but holy cow, they are fabulous. Enchiladas are decent too, but those french fries… Anyway, great service, and definitely worth checking it out.

Went there today to have one of their delicious plates. I can honestly say their chilaquiles used to be better. If they switch cooks please bring the old one back because the current one sucks. Sauce tasted canned, not even a hint of spice. It was sweet sauce and didn’t even looked red but orange. Sorry but this will be last time I’ll be eating here. I have stopped here anytime I come from Los Angeles. Hope they see this review and go back to their roots and not try to Americanize their Mexican food.

At the risk of ruining it, this is the best honest Fresh Mex joint around. Clean, friendly, healthy, and freaking delicious! Nothing is bad. Everything is good.

Now I know one thing this place is not good at making menudo! I was hungover and was looking forward for a bowl of hot menudo, my girl friend got the breakfast machaca which was alright but the beans were cold and the potatoes looked like a day or two old. Once they brought my bowl of menudo no joke it was cold! I saw no steam and a layer of oil on top. When I told them my bowl of menudo was cold they apologized and I already knew they were just going to throw in the microwave which would make the menudo rubbery and that is what they just did. Received my bowl hot ready to eat and rubbery menudo I couldn’t even chew it, and to top it off it almost tasted like«Juanitas» menudo from the can. Horrible service to serve food like that and not think anything of it. You would think being a Sunday you’ll get some fresh hot menudo but I guess this place don’t care for their quality of food and service.

My faith on Casa Vicky had been redeemed though the coffee and pastry! The churros and mocha coffee are amazing :) try not to order them to go, makes them fresher. Enjoy!

My rate ranges between 3 to 4 stars. Why? Because this place sometimes is on point and sometimes lacking in the salt department. I like the fact that you order up front and pay there as soon as you pay. This is convenient when you come with a group of friends. I hate splitting bills because someone always ends up paying more. You basically sit wherever you want after that. This place is pretty spacious. Costumer service has been good for me so far. They also sell pan dulce here. They don’t have a huge selection but it works. They have mimosas, sangria and chavelas here too if you wanna booze it up or just horchata and mexican sodas or your typical beverages. I’ll still come here for breakfast with my friends.

I was honestly impressed by Casa Vicky. Let’s be honest, a Mexican joint in San Jose is within spitting distance at all times, and it is hard to determine which are worth the dollar. Vicky is. As you enter, you head to the typical counter, passing by the bakery section which offers fresh tortillas and desserts for sale. But I wasn’t here for that, I was here for food — and that’s the part that will make you stop. The menu is huge. Ok, yes, part of the hugeness is the breakfast side, but the lunch/dinner side is still huge: ala carte items, combination plates, house specials — and let’s not forget the daily specials on the side board. Regardless of what you order, there will be a number of items you will say«I have to get this next time!» like the fish tacos and tamales. After ordering, now is the hard part: finding a place to sit. While the area where you order has that typical hole in the wall, no place to sit vibe, the rest of the restaurant is built from a house, with at least 3 rooms to choose from to sit. do you want the bakery vibe, or the more friendly nestled in the back with wood floors vibe? We went to the back. As I had had a stressful month, I went with the feel good cure of a huge chimichanga. Filled with chicken, rice & beans, with a side of rice & beans, AND a side of 2 fresh corn(or flower) tortillas. I was hungry, but I still had enough for a second whole meal. The chimichanga was great — not the best I’ve ever had, but worth getting again. The staff was fantastic. Very courteous during the ordering, and the cashier/manager even came over during the meal to confirm that everything was great, something I haven’t experienced in a while.
