California Tree Solutions

We had to remove four 30′ tall trees from our front yard, with all of these trees overhanging a busy street. This was a complex operation, requiring a traffic encroachment permit, sidewalk closure from the town, and several obstacles that the crew had to navigate around. Paul’s crew did a very professional job from start to finish. I hired the traffic control company that he recommended. They were expensive, but worth it for safety. Paul brought in heavy equipment (a very large loader truck and chipper as well as a bucket truck) and managed to get everything on site in our front yard without damaging our sidewalks, sprinklers, fence, or street trees. Amazing! The trees were removed and he sent someone the next day to grind the stumps as the job required. All debris was removed and the crew left our yard as clean as it was when they started.
This was the lowest bidder of 5 (five!) bids that I got for this project. I wasn’t sure because they don’t have a large number of reviews. But I gave them a chance because they came recommended by another tree company and Paul gave me the impression I could trust his expertise. I tipped generously for a difficult job well done.

Our birch trees died because of drought and during a windy day one of those trees fell on our house. No damage to the house (thankfully) but there were 3 others waiting to fall… I phoned California Tree Solutions. Very polite, professional and prompt. Paul was informative and his prices were fair. The crew was awesome and cleaned after tree and stump removal. I would recommend their service anytime. Thank you guys!!!

We shopped for a tree company that could help us out with a large palm tree in the back. Paul was very professional, knowledgable, and detail oriented. He answered our questions to our satisfaction. Of the multiple tree companies I spoke with, Paul and his company will definitely be one of my go-​to guys!

California Tree Solutions did a great job! Paul was very easy to work with and the process was fairly smooth… called for an estimate… he came out and provided a very competitive price… scheduled the job… his crew came out, did an excellent job and cleaned the work area. The only hiccup was grinding the stomps was delayed a day but not a big issue for me.
Overall, California Tree Solutions is a company I would use again and also recommend to others.

Overall: California Tree Solutions is the best way to go if you need tree removal, tree pruning, or root grinding in the bay area. They are licensed and have workers comp. Paul is very knowledgeable of his trees and how to take care of them. We needed to remove multiple trees (8+) and trim two huge oat trees all together. His price was very reasonable and considerably cheaper than other top rated tree service companies on Unilocal.In fact, Paul was referred by The «We Care Tree Care» company, which was also great (see my other review on Unilocal for We Care Tree Care).
Tree Removal: Paul has a great team of 9 people. They are all nice and hardworking guys. It was 90 °F during the day that they worked. Even though it’s baking out there, they all show dedications to get the work done within promised schedule. All trees removal and pruning were completed within 8 hours of time. Not an easy job. They had to haul out multiple tree trunks which easily weight over 100lbs ea. They have the right equipment and were well organized. They were multi-​tasking and were able to complete all work on time. I stood out there trying to take some video of their work, and I was sweating after 10 minutes! Imagine what it was like to do heavy lifting work in long sleeves (for protection) for hours.
Tree Pruning: The two oat trees were way overdue for pruning. Since they are listed as heritage trees in my city, Paul knew right away of what’s the «legal» way to prune them. He also pointed out mistakes that were made by the previous tree service guy that has caused major damage to my trees. In fact, 80% of my trees are dying because of the previous pruning. Lessons Learned — never go for cheap tree services, but look for one that knows their stuff.
Root Grinding: Root grinding was done on a separate day. Two of Paul’s team member came out for a full day to grind 12 tree stumps. Again, it’s a 90F+ day. They did an excellent job on grinding and cleaning up. All (12 stumps, we had some old dead ones) were done in a day and the place looks very clean afterwards.
In Summary, I can’t be any happier with the price, schedule, team, and quality of work of this company. I HIGHLY recommend this company to all you out there that are looking for tree services. If there is a 6^th star, I would not hesitate to give it on Unilocal

I would highly recommend California Tree Solutions. Paul came out to give us a quote on a Saturday to trim 7 very tall Cypress trees along our driveway. I had several other quotes and Paul was very reasonable and competitive. His crew was back out the following Wednesday to do the job. Eric and the guys were very nice and extremely professional. They completed the job in 2 hours including all clean up. We couldn’t be more pleased and will definately use them again for any future work we may need. Thank you!!!

Call California for an estimate for stump removal and I got a good price. The guy came over and had it done in an hour. That was amazing and he clean up my yard too! Thank you Paul for a great job and work. Please keep up the great quality work.

I needed six palm trees trimmed and one removed. The six palms are 75ft tall and were in bad shape with over-​growth and old branches. Paul and team were excellent! Very knowledgeable and hard working. These guys know what they are doing. After having to scale up six palms, cut down another, chop up the downed palm, and clean up the epic mess the other six made when trimming them; when they were completely done with the job, they left no trace behind them. Paul and his team are my ‘go-​to’ for all my tree needs. Quality, professional, and customer service. You won’t be sorry!

We talked to Paul on Sunday evening and he came out the next morning and gave us a very good quote. I ended up going with someone else only because of availability. We had a boxelder tree infested with bugs of the same name which were getting in our house so needed it down ASAP meaning within a few days. Paul was very responsive and professional so I definitely recommend him.

Omar is very polite and a gentleman — I asked for his help to take out these mini trees that were dying in our front yard and this was not part of our contract. And he did not hesitate to do that for me.
The tree trimming job we hired them for — very professional and a well done job. We are very pleased with them and will hire them again and refer them to friends and family in a heart beat. They cleaned up afterwards very well as well. Thank you !

Like all the other Unilocalers, I was really impressed with how honest, knowledgeable, prompt, and professional Paul was. Great follow-​up. We got many quotes and Paul’s (Ca Tree Solutions) was the lowest. Only suggestion is to try to write a bit more neatly on the estimate. :-) (For full disclosure, we ended up using a different service because of something I was confused about that Paul has since explained when he followed up, but I almost chose them, and would definitely hire them in the future.)

Paul and his crew were very professional, punctual and left the place cleaner than before. They took down 3 tall Poplar trees close to my neighbors’ fences in about a day and a half. I also had them prune and thin out an ash tree which my neighbors appreciated as well. Paul had also removed big trees overhanging my friend’s house. I actually got to know them through my friend. All in all a great set of professionals to do any kind of tree work.

I had a nasty old street tree (topped by previous owners) that needed to go. Paul at California Tree Solutions was great. He is seriously one of the most professional contractors I have ever dealt with. He was always on time, always called when he said he would, took care of all the permit stuff and left everything clean and swept up when he was done. He was also knowledgeable (without being condescending — kind of a thing I ran into with other arborists), and didn’t try to up-​sell me on a bunch of services I didn’t really need. The cherry on top: his quote was the lowest by a significant margin.
Paul did a fabulous job, exactly as promised. One of my neighbors has already hired him for next week, and I will definitely call him for my next tree issue.

I first saw Paul when he was cleaning up the neighborhood eyesore a few streets down from our house. In just one day, he had totally cleaned up that yard by removing dead bushes and trimming trees. I was so impressed that I stopped by and told him about a palm tree in front of our house that my husband had assured me would be impossible to move because the roots were too big. I’m a tree lover but this one had grown too close to our home and was beginning to cause damage. I was pleased when Paul stopped by that very same day and gave me a quote but was in shock when the tree was gone an hour later. Paul is a Godsend! This young man knows what he is doing and he doesn’t waste time — his or yours. After he left, my husband and I talked about him for days — you can definitely feel his passion — he is knowledgeable about trees and plants and gave us expert advice for future landscaping.
