Almaden Performance

Kevin is an AWESOME mechanic. I was referred to him by a Co-​worker who’s family has been taking their cars to him for many years. I took my Caravan to Kevin when things weren’t running right and he says give him a few hours to take a look at it and call me back with details. Meanwhile I called around to see if I could find something cheaper — Nope! Kevin was the cheapest. He did such a fantastic job that I have been taking my card to him for a few years now. He’s very honest in his work and always make follow up calls. He’s no about the money but about his craftmanship — and you can’t really find that anymore these days.
Well now it’s time that my daughter start taking her 1998 Honda car to Kevin — he’s so good he keeps inheriting new family members. lol — Great Job Kevin. See you soon.

The most honest automotive repair shop that I have ever been too! We have taken our cars there on several occasions and Kevin has always given great service at a great price. They always make sure that the problem is fixed before that accept payment. We will be loyal costumers for as long as we live in the area!

Had an issue shifting my 2011 Scion TC. Took my car here as it was walking distance from where I live. The mechanic took a look to see what was wrong, quick fix. The best part is he didn’t charge me anything. Honest people are hard to find these days. I will be coming back for any issues that I do have from now on. Thank you for saving me what could have been an expensive, but easy fix.

My boyfriends Prelude died on Idle and we couldn’t get it to start again, this was back in late April. We made the mistake of towing it to a different shop first and a friend from work recommended we go see Kevin so we had it towed over to Kevin. Not only did Kevin charge us half the price compared to what the other shop was charging but he was honest. He even followed up with us after to make sure the car is still running okay. We are so glad we were referred to come see him because now we have a mechanic we can trust whenever something goes wrong with one of our cars and that is very hard to find these days.

I highly recommend Almaden performance in San Jose… after 3 quotes and not so good communication, I found them! Kevin explained everything in detail and even called to see how car was doing! Very impressed! Kevin was highly recommended and am sooooo happy!

I passed by this place by accident and was immediately welcomed by Kevin’s warm smile even though he was working vehemently on another car. He paused to help me out. He was friendly, kind, knowledgeable, professional. I was at a complete loss of words! As a female it is daunting to go to the mechanic, I would rather go to the dentist or doctor because I don’t know much about cars and it would be easy to take advantage of that, but Kevin was completely honest, helpful and kind. There have been plenty of occasions where I thought I was going to have to spend a bucket of money and they found simple solutions that got me on my way. They do a great job on everything from broken buttons and levers to complete overhauls.

Kevin has figured out a better way… he has figured out that you can run a great business by treating people fairly and not nickle and diming them and they keep coming back and recommending them to friends! Shocking I know, but VERY effective!

My Mom had a tail light out on her car. She is 81 and totally so worried about it. I couldn’t get over to fix it so I told her to drive over and Kevin would take care of it. She never told him she was my Mom, just that she had a tail light out. He got the light, put it in, cleaned out all of the lenses on her headlights — and didn’t even charge her!!! She couldn’t believe it! I think they will get baked goods for the rest of their lives!

Almaden Performance was fortunately walking distance to our home and after seeing some strong reviews on Unilocal,we decided to go there when our alternator failed on our Lexus. He gave us an estimate, great service, communicated effectively on what needed to be done, did things in timely manner, was convenient, and very helpful. We returned to him several times after for regular car check ups and services. Every visit we received perfection. Our most recent visit was for Breaks squeaking. Turned out ALL the brakes and routers were in desperate need of changing. He was very helpful in staying in contact with us and was able to explain exactly what was needed.
Kevin tells it how it is. He’s straight forward and told us multiple options that we could take to make sure we make a move that is best for us. Car repairs can get pricey, so these options allowed us to stay within our budget, but to make sure that we got done what was absolutely needed.
Although we have moved and it’s not around the corner, I will definitely be returning if a car problem arises.

My family and I have been going to this shop for over 15 years. He’s serviced a total of 8 different cars for us during that time and probably 30 of my friends’ cars. In one instance, my Honda Prelude was leaking oil and other mechanics/​shops told me it would cost over 500 to fix it. One mechanic, Kevin, immediately told me that this specific model has an issue with loose oil pans. He tightened the screws and it never leaked again. Furthermore, he never even charged me for the labor! All other times their rates are less than half of the big boys shops and their quality is twice as good.
Honestly, you cant ask for anything more than a good honest set of mechanics with fast service.
Theres always a bunch of cars at their shop and theyre really busy all the time, but that just means they are doing a great job. Cant recommend any more than this!

I was super pleased with my service. I called up because of an «ABS» light appearing on my dash board, and wanted to make sure my Anti-​Lock Braking System was actually working. The guys at Almaden Performance were great. They made time for me, turned out it was just a missing screw had displaced a sensor, and was easily fixable. He didn’t even charge me for the labor. I will definitely be returning here again. It was so convenient, and with excellent customer service.

I own a 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser and have had kevin run a Dianostic when the check engine light came on he’s a very honest guy will do very quality work on anyones car and will not take advantage of anyone in car repairs. THE ENGINE IN MY TOYOTA TRUCK BLEW UP
They wanted 15K at the dealership to replace. Kevin and crew did it in about a week for less than $ 5K! FN amazing! Ok the place looks a little wacky because there are *always* tons of cars there. I had him service all of my company’s trucks. Still amazing prices! Had my kids and my wife’s cars serviced there. Rock solid. Really great people. The guys have an amazing range of knowledge. This is what I want from an organization that could take advantage of me because I really have lost touch with the ability to service my own autos. I always feel that they are fair and charge *very reasonably*. They are truly great! And no, they aren’t my uncles.

So I was told by another mechanic my clutch was out and that it was going to cost me over $ 1000 to fix. A friend said I should take it to Almaden Performance, since she and her husband take all of their cars there. I am always scared of mechanics and small shops cause I am afraid they will take advantage of my ZERO knowledge about cars.
Well not this place! I called them on a monday morning, explained my situation, and Kevin said it sounded like something that was a little easier to fix, and that he would take a look at my car for no charge. YEP NO CHARGE!
After he figured out the problem he said he would do a little research on the part I needed, and that I should call him in a few hours. When I called he told me a friend of his at a wrecking yard had 2 similar parts and that he could have them to fix my car. SAVINGS for me! I told him I couldn’t come back until Friday morning, and that I’d need my car fixed by 1pm to make it to work on time. Usually anytime someone has told me they’d have my car done by a certain time they meant 2 hours later. But when I arrived today my car was waiting for me to drive it home!
It only cost me $ 125 to fix, car runs great, and Kevin even called me to ask how it was doing. I plan on returning here for any and all of my car whoas in the future.
