I needed someone to help check out the heater for a home in North San Jose. When I called A-​Z Techs, I was immediately greeted with friendly service by Joe. A schedule was immediately available and the expected costs were clear. Since I couldn’t be onsite, I had them contact someone at the home. He was able to follow my requests and finished the job quicker than I expected. Their service was friendly and professional. I will not hesitate in recommending them.

Woke up this morning, tried to turn on heater and it did not work. Went out to light pilot and it would not stay on. Looked through Unilocal,found this company, called and Joe told me he would be here in an hour! He immediately diagnosed the problem, went and got the part, and fixed it. Amazing service! This is my first Unilocal review. I am so impressed with how professional, nice and HONEST Joe was. Price was $ 140, and it’s a really old heater. Also changed my filter and gave me a written 1 year warranty. I am saving his card for all future services of this nature.

I would give Joe and team more stars if I could! He is very professional and competent and really went above and beyond to get my furnace QUICKLY for a very fair price. In addition, Joe is very down-​to-​earth and friendly. He explained all of my options before we agreed on the work to be done.
About a week ago I came home to a freezing house — our furnace had just stopped dead. I called 3 – 4 places and the soonest anybody could come out was in 3 days. When I called Joe I was delighted to hear that he could come in JUST TWO HOURS. He showed me exactly what wasn’t working (burnt out inducer motor) and then called a bunch of parts distributors until he was finally able to locate a replacement part in San Francisco. Joe came back the next day with the new motor and my furnace was fixed by lunchtime:-) I was relieved and pleased with the whole experience. We will definitely be calling Joe for any future heating/​cooling repairs.

Joe and his cute son showed up on New Year’s Day to get my ancient furnace working again. And warned me again that it was past time to replace it.
Know what? I believe him.
He’d make more $$ keeping the dinosaur running, but instead he told me how and when to get a replacement for the best price.

Joe is a pro. I knew I had to replace or repair my Mr Slim A/​C condenser. I wasn’t sure whether the in-​room blower had to go as well — or if one could be replaced without replacing the other. I called two other AC guys earlier. One quoted way too high for the replacement of both units. The other made me wait for 3 weeks and never did return a quote. Joe came out on a Tuesday and told me that just the condenser needed to be replaced. Amazingly, he could get the new unit and install it on Thursday, which he did. Reasonable price, fast fix, no nonsense. Highly recommend.

My heater doesn’t work, PG&E came in to relight but can’t make it work. On Monday I searched online to reach multiple professionals, either be told to wait 2 weeks more or be placed to voice message. I was so happy to reach Joe and Joe answered my phone to confirm the next afternoon Tuesday appointment. Joe notified me ahead for his earlie arrival possibility, and fixed the heater issue very quickly. I am so happy to see how fast and efficient Joe is. Thank you Joe!

I have been a long time customer and turned to Joe on multiple occasions. My furnace mother board started malfunctioning in 2014 winter. I got the same day appointment and got it replaced by Joe. There was a small glitch where Joe had to come over in a couple of days and had to swap a couple of wires that were incorrectly connected. He accepted honestly that it was his fault. It was not a major issue but still thermostat was misbehaving because of it.
In 2015 summer, my AC condenser capacitor blew away and Joe promptly came over got it replaced in 15 mins. No BS, he got the job done without dragging time. His charges are very reasonable.
In 2015 winter my furnace kept locking out every morning. I had to reset furnace via circuit breaker every time. I turned to Joe and he replaced the bad capacitor and a bad fuse. He didn’t charge me for this appointment which is about 45 minutes. He honored the 2014 job’s warranty. I had no warranty paper work or whatsoever.
Finally, I think after working with him for 3 years I can conclude that he is very honest, fair, takes responsibility and fixes repairs as needed. He is my go-​to-​guy for all HVAC issues.

I was very satisfied with the service provided by Joe. Gave me a quote and stuck to it. Replaced a part at no extra charge. Great service.

Joe came through for us after calling a bunch of other repair places. Honest and could have easily up sold me but didn’t. I trust him and highly recommend AZ tech.

Another company installed my air conditioning. When it looked like there was rust in the condenser water, they said they would open the unit to see if there was an issue. Then they blew me off. They told me just to change my air filters. I called Joe (who answered the phone right away) and he came the next day, took apart the unit, and said there was no issue. He did identify some duct leakage, so I had him fix that and install a door to make it easier to change the air filters regularly. He was very professional, called when he was running behind, and quickly made the fixes. I would definitely recommend him to others and use him again myself.

This guy was great, or maybe I just caught him at the right time, but most likely it’s a combination of the two. After not getting calls back from three folks, I called this place after researching who to call on Unilocal.I wish I’d called here first. They called me back and came out within two hours. They quickly diagnosed the issue as a blown compressor (which they left with me). They had the part with them, installed it, and wrote me a receipt with guarantee and were gone all in the course of an hour.

We had a bad experience with another repair company that we had come out to look at our air conditioning unit a few months ago. We won’t be using them again… Unfortunately, our unit was not working again so we called and left messages for a handful of repair companies. Joe answered our call and was the only one who made time to come out the same day. He fixed the problem and we had cold air once again. Joe is nice and professional. We will now be using A-​Z Techs Mechanical for future repairs.

I called about 7 different places to have someone come out and fix my A/​C unit. All voicemails were full or the answering service indicated that if you’re a new customer, they can’t get to you for a couple weeks. I saw that A-​Z had a really good rating — unfortunately they were listed on page 4 of my Unilocal Search so I didn’t see them sooner. I’m so glad I found them. Joe returned my call within an hour and actually tried to trouble shoot the problem over the phone to save me money. Ultimately, he had to come out — which he did the very next day — and fixed the problem quickly. He had a ton of appointments, but still squeezed me into his schedule since I had been w/​o AC for a couple days. He’s reliable and just a good guy.

I usually am not fond of writing reviews but this is a must!!!
We had one heck of a crap job done by another company that our home insurance sent. They came 8 times in all and by then, we have given up on them… Our unit still did not have heat nor a/​c even though we now have a new condenser, and the coolant fully filled with refrigerant.
Fast forward, we found Joe on Unilocal and decided to go with him. He was very quick to take the call and even quicker to come out to have a look at the problem. He & his assistant found the leak within minutes (the previous guys had solder the brass line, making it look like a smoking pipe from the first century!) and had to buy a new part to install the line. I knew we were in good hands when he left all his stuff to go get the parts from the supplier!
The price is reasonable and the work is awesome! After a 2.5 hour job, Joe fixed the line beautifully (the other guys really just did a sloppy job, running the line in a convenient but horribly twisted path) and the HVAC system works! You won’t be disappointed with his skills and knowledge!
Oh why didn’t we find you earlier? Winter would have been nice and warm with heat!!!

I was looking for someone to replace a Plenum I had Abated/​removed from my heating system as it was surrounded in asbestos. It was in prep for installing an AC unit. I ended up not having the AC unit installed by the person I initially intended to hire, but I still needed to have my Plenum rebuilt and re-​installed.
I got quotes from about 7 different HVAC services. Most prices were really steep, and their quotes were not even for a custom Plenum, most were for pre-​fabricated plenums that would’ve had to been rigged to fit my home. The timelines given to me were mostly 3 weeks to a month. Some estimators were, nice but some were plain rude.
I was about to give up, but I had to do something before winter. I attempted to call 3 more services on Unilocal.A-​Z Techs Mechanical was the only one to call back.
Joe called back swiftly and worked around my schedule to come do an estimate. You can tell right off the bat that Joe is an honest guy. He does estimates right on the spot and gives you all the options up front. He gave me, what I thought was fair and excellent price! I not only built a new plenum for my Heating system on the spot, he insulated it and the my Air Supply event. He also quoted me an AC coil at a good price, and so I asked him to install that as well. I didn’t have an entire AC installed, but now my HVAC system is AC ready and when I save up enough money, I’m going to call Joe back to have him install AC.

I highly recommend Joe and A-​Z Techs Mechanical. I don’t know why they’re on the third page of results when you search for HVAC or heating services. I have already recommended this HVAC Service to my friends and family, saying that if they need any HVAC Service done, A-​Z is the way to go!

We just bought a new home this year and realized after we moved in that our existing furnace was in serious need of replacement. Initially, we thought we could just do duct cleaning, but called several HVAC specialists who all agreed we needed to replace the furnace. After several more efforts by my wife to find a good HVAC specialist on Unilocal,we ended up going with Joe. Joe was a pleasure to talk to and have around our home. He has a lot of experience, and has a lot of knowledge of the different types of furnaces available for sale. He did not push anything on us, but gave us the layout of the field of products, made a simple recommendation and let us choose which one we wanted to go with. We ended up going with the Bryant furnace.
Joe was very kind and cordial to both me and my wife. He was respectful of our «house rules» of no shoes on the carpet. He took the time to protect our hard wood floors. He also cleaned up nicely after he was through. He didn’t just install a new furnace either, but he took his time to do some needed modification for an air filter, as well as put special tape around the ducting air vents throughout the house so that there wouldn’t be any leakage into the walls.
End Result… we will have Joe back in the spring to install our Air Conditioner unit!

I interviewed two different local companies to fix my air-​condition and furnace. After consulting with each of the representatives I decided to go with A-​Z. I chose A-​Z for a few reasons. First, I felt Joe really knew his stuff and took genuine pride in his work. He’s clearly had a lot of experience in cooling and heating and knows what makes for a quality job. Second, I didn’t get the hard-​sell vibe from Joe that I got from the other company. He didn’t try the whole «I can give you a discount but only if you sign the contract today» sale tactic. And lastly, the focus of his work was cooling and heating.
During his inspection Joe found water in my duct system and took a picture on the spot to show me how much water was inside the duct. He explained how that needed to be fixed before he could start on the next part of the problem He gave me a price on the work based on what he felt needed to be fixed and gave me time to decide. Once I said to start the work he left for supplies and returned soon afterwards. He and his helper started the work and prepped the area to prevent damage to my floors. Joe was personally on site and managed the work.
After the duct repair and replacement he then started ruling out the cause for the water. He showed me the condenser and how that was icing up and then explained that one of the drains had been plugged causing the water to build up and run through to the furnace and into the duct system. It was more than I understood, but I really appreciate the time he spent making sure I knew what had caused the main trouble and what he needed to do next to fix it. He unplugged the drain and made sure it was draining outside like it should have been doing.
The installation went smoothly, everything was cleaned up afterwards, and he even waited to make sure that the unit was running smoothly before he asked me to pay. The cost came in below what I expected and the job was completed within the time-​frame he expected and it worked fantastically.
