No BSing in trying to sell you on services in which is unnecessary to your vehicle… We all know there’s many crooked mechanics out there trying to nickel and dime you as much as possible… Hey, it’s the nature of the business — I get it. But not here. R1 Motors has became a preferred vendor and we highly recommend this establishment. Give it a try! You’ll definitely be pleased and a I’m confident you’ll be a returning customer.

Great service. I just recently started taking my car to Ray. He first did my rear brakes for about $ 150 (parts and labor included!!) I’ve gotten quotes from other places and his was the cheapest. The last time I took my car in was for my rear shocks! I had another place quote me for $ 390, for «the cheapest parts» and labor. He charged me $ 270 for good parts and labor included! Best part is he doesn’t take too long. I’ve taken my car on Fridays around 2:00 and he is finished around 5:00. But you do have to schedule an appointment.

saying that Raymond is the main reason why my car is in the great shape that it is would be a lie… he is the ONLY reason why my car is in such great shape.
i drive a nissan 240sx with a complete motor swap (rb20det) and finding someone who not only has knowledge of the motor but who can actually work on them is hard, luckily there is Raymond.

Great place to go. Raymond is a great mechanic. I went to and called probably 35 mechanic shops in the Alhambra/​Pasadena area for my Prius which had a check engine light that would turn on and off. Many shops wouldn’t read the error codes for free, others wouldn’t give me a quote unless they did an inspection. A few places in Pasadena quoted me $ 100 just for a basic inspection of what the problem was.
I went to R1 Motor and Raymond read me the codes for free, and actually popped open the hood and took a look to make sure I wouldn’t break down. He was the only mechanic that I visited out of the thirty shops that put a little more effort and time looking at the problem my car was having. All at no charge.
I eventually returned to have my car repaired by him because I felt most comfortable going to a mechanic that actually took a more thorough look at the car with an affordable rate, especially in comparison to other shops. The problem ended up being a failing Coolant Flow Control Valve.
I’d recommend going here.

My front and rear shocks were leaking and need to be replaced. My dealer asked for $ 1800. I called about 20+ top reviews auto shops on Unilocal and R1 has the best price! Raymond is very friendly and patiently. I highly recommend this shop!!!

i was thinkin this was mainly a jap shop but i gave raymond a call to see if he’d touch my vw golf r and he said its not a problem at all. good service and honest pricing.

What’s the point of telling someone to come back later in the day to do an oil change, just to tell them you can’t do it today? That baffles me. It’s a waste of a person’s time.

The guy who works there is amazing. He is very good at what he does and he is a very nice and humble person.
My husband, my brothers, my parents, in laws we all go there if smth happens to our cars. He fixes everything perfectly and finish quickly. His services are not as over priced as other places.

Raymond took care of my 1991 MR2, and now he’s the guy taking care of my 2006 Mazdaspeed 6. He might lag a little bit since he’s super busy, but his price and service is top notch.
One thing I really like about him is he tells you honestly what needs to be fixed, what can hold off, and what is pointless to fix. Keep up the good work and honesty Ray and customers will keep coming with 5 stars feed backs!

Normally I do my own work on my car, but there have been occasions where I don’t have to tools or knowledge on a certain job or I’m tight on time from school and work. I’ve been coming to Raymond for a couple of years now and he is hands-​down the best mechanic in the area. He is honest and competitively priced. He wont try to convince you to replace anything that doesn’t need repair. He’ll even give to the best advice he can on a problem with your car if you just give him a call.

R1 motor the best shop, known for excellent service on customization, motor swaps you name it he does. I been going to the shop for years now n I’ve known Ray since the JPR days. Rays always done good quality work on my Subaru my Scion my Ford Ranger he knows it all I highly recommend the shop he’s a good guy, good owner very respectable and talented individual as well as a hard worker!

Raymond does great work. He knows his stuff and does his job thoroughly. I bought a set of used springs for my Evo X and put them on myself but noticed they were sitting too low. So I bought a brand new set of the same springs and had Raymond install them for me since I didn’t want to go through the install again by myself. He was a bit confused at first on why I bought the same exact springs but after we took the used set off, it was clear what the problem was. I knew the springs weren’t supposed to sit so low.
Sitting the springs side by side it was obvious the previous owner had cut about 2 – 3 coils and didn’t even bother telling me when I bought it. Shady.
Raymond and I were talking and laughing about the situation. If you have any questions, he has the answers. He is an honest mechanic and won’t try to rip you off.
He was able to get me in and out of the shop the same day I called him. I was at his shop for about 5 hours because he had another customer in front of me, but I didn’t even mind because time flew by from just talking to him about cars and getting to know him.
I will be coming to Raymond from now on because I feel confident that I’m getting quality service and no B.S.

I have brought multiple cars to r1 and Raymond has always taken care of me. I don’t know what much else to say but a grade A shop with a grade A tech. I recommend this place to anyone that is picky about who they let handle their car. Prices are not bad either

My cousins and I have been going to R1 Motor for years. Raymond is super reliable, honest, fast and generous. He does a great job every time. I always refer my friends and family to his shop.

Ray is the most reasonable and friendly mechanic I’ve ever done business with. Rather than the common arrogance displayed by most mechanics who no longer love what they do, Raymond listens and investigates every issue you have. If you’re the type of person who likes to work on your car yourself he’ll show you what he’s doing or demonstrate what’s causing the problem. I feel completely safe letting him work on my car and I’ve never been over quoted for any of the work he’s done for me.
The last time I visited Ray I needed help bleeding my clutch slave cylinder after having replaced it myself. He was able to sort out why I wasn’t able to bleed it myself and used a vacuum to finish the job in less than 10 minutes, showing me what the problem was as he did it.
He’s legit.

I’ve had huge quotes from other mechanics trying to replace unnecessary parts and Raymond was able to find the problem and the part right away for a fraction of the cost. You won’t be disappointed!
