My Nail Spa

Still love this place the best, but one of the new staff is a bit careless, and seems like in rush. She accidentally drop some gel nail polish on my mum’s hand. Other than this, still 5 stars!

I came here twice so far to get gel nails and both times left feeling happy that I had pretty nails again. Yoyo (owner) did my nails the second time and she was extremely efficient and quick. I was in and out in an hour. The girls speak mainly mandarin — not sure about their English skills but their nail skills are A+. I’m very picky about the nail salons I go to for gel nails and I believe the girls that I’ve experienced were both skilled in doing nails. I got a French gradient set with glitter and it was $ 40. The salon is super small — they can only service 2 – 3 customers at a time based off of the number of booths. So make sure to make an appt ahead of time!

Walked in they asked what I wanted, which was just a manicure, they stared at me for a bit and told me they were booked. Didn’t even ask me if I wanted to book an appointment. There were two other girls who were free in there and only one client. Horrible service. If I could rate a zero I would have.

My regular nail girl was on vacation for 3 weeks and I really needed to get my nails done so I found this nail salon near my house. As noted, this place is by appointment only. The owners are Chinese, but can do many Japanese style designs. I made an appointment for a gel mani and a regular pedi on a Saturday evening with Yoyo, I believe. I saw her a picture of my design and she quoted me $ 38. I choose a neural base with chevron and glitter design for both my ring fingers. They charge $ 5 to take off gel polish, if not done by them. Yoyo wasn’t very talkative and didn’t really understand English. I asked her for almond shaped nails and she had to ask her coworker what I was talking about in Chinese. Though I liked how she focused on her work, I really wish that when I tried to make conversation she would try to show more interest in her customer. She did a very good job on replicating the photo of the nail design I wanted so I was happy with her work. I would have given her a better review, but she ended up charging me $ 42 for my nails instead of $ 38 like she quoted me before doing them. They should also work better at being more friendly towards their customers.
Thank goodness my girl Linh at Nail Club 20 is back!

Not at all impressed.
Pedicure– Feet soaked in a barrel. Girl who did my pedi cure took 15 min. She didn’t cut my nails, barely removed cuticles, scrub was for less than a min on each foot. Only scrubbed heels. My foot rest was attached to the girls seat, she rolled back, I rolled forward. Had to balance to keep in my seat. Definitely not worth $ 18. My 6 year old could’ve done better.
After she finished my pedicure, didn’t say anything and rushed to go get her cell phone.
Manicure– The girl used very little cotton to take off my old gel nails. After removed, my nails were never soaked in water. Barley took off any cuticle. Asked for square nails. The girl rounded them uneven, asked for her to cut my nails to make them square. Now my nails are short and stubby. She got frustrated when I asked her to cut it and she rushed with my nails. Not worth $ 30.
Never going here again.

Very nice little nail place. I placed an appointment for my girlfriend here about 2 – 3 hours ahead of time. We were greeted by Yoyo who asked if we had an appointment. She asked my girlfriend for which colors and what she wanted to get done. After that, it was just nice silence — besides the conversation I had with my girlfriend. Yoyo, didn’t talk much and she wasn’t on the phone or conversing with anyone around her. Most importantly in my opinion, she was Chinese, knew I could speak Chinese, but still spoke in English, because my girlfriend couldn’t speak Chinese. Very awesome.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Got recommended here by a friend, and made a reservation with Yoyo! I came to get my nails done for my engagement photoshoot, and Yoyo is so good at what she does! I gave her a picture of what I wanted and she made my nails EXACTLY like it! SO SO SO PRETTY, and just a people person too! All three girls in the store were really friendly and we made great conversation. I’ll definitely be back to do my nails here in the future. Their precision, creativity, & tenderness put into my mani, is what I’ve been searching for all this time!!! I used to only get my nails done in Beijing, because there’s no nail salon in California that satisfied me :(It can get a bit pricy, but I think it’s truly worth splurging on once in awhile. :)
THEY ARE APPOINTMENT ONLY

Overall I’m pretty satisfied with my experience at My Nail Spa. They have so many beautiful colors and I finally picked the one looks like in between light blue and grey. They are located a little bit far away from DTLA but it worths the ride and time. Definitely will go back and try other colors.

They do a very good job staying in line which I have been having problem with many other nail salon! How did I not find this gem earlier! This was the best nail I have done ever. I always just do solid color and am looking for a clean look; they give me exactly what I’m looking for and beyond. The girls there are also very nice and chatty just like friends. But keep in mind that they only take appointment and no walk ins.

Love this place. It’s small but has plenty of parking in the front. Make sure you make an appointment so you don’t have to wait.
I got silver glitter french tip. The ladies are quick but really good at what they do. They pay attention to fine details. Prices are reasonable. Gel manicure $ 25 and french tip $ 30.
Would definitely come here again.

My review is for JJ who did my nails. I cannot say if the other ladies are any better or not. I requested a very simple two color French gel manicure with my own nails. It took over 2.5 hours. She had a hard time taking my old gel polish off and attempted to use a finger nail clip to remove the charms! Needless to say I cancelled getting a pedicure there. The strips of sticker she put on my nails is already coming off just an hour after leaving the place. My nails were filed down so hard they’re tender and one has a bruise. All of this for $ 100! «Extra 10 to remove gel polish and extra 15 for a «special» polish color. «Manicure» included filing my nails, roughly pushing back my cuticles, slightly cutting my cuticles, and dashing a little cuticle oil on my cuticles. Unbelievable. I’m all for paying extra for excellent work, but this was horrible. Why let a rookie do a first time client’s nails??? Insane! Customer beware.

Blown away again by these ladies’ skills in nail art! It seems like there is nothing that they cannot do. I asked for a black gel manicure with blue foil patches ($ 45 + tip) and YoYo delivered. I’m so in love with my nails and am so excited to go back again to try out something new.
Christina L and I were running late for our appointments with YoYo and CiCi and they were so accommodating. They were also very friendly while we were at our appointments. I love that their nails are always done! They told us that they do it themselves. Amazing. That’s how you know they’re talented.

My absolute favorite nail spa. The manicurists here really know what they are doing, they’re easy to communicate with so you can get exactly what you need, and they’re very pleasant. Their nail art is finely detailed and they have a HUGE selection of options of what they can do. The price is also very good for the quality of work they can do. Hands down I never go elsewhere if I can avoid it.

I chose the Twin Stars (from Hello Kitty) Nail Sticker Decals with Rhinestone Flowers. I love the supporting Hello Kitty’s pals and the Twins are one of the favorites along with Spottie Dottie, and Pochacco.

I’ve been to this place about 4−5times. I have really liked this place up until today. Let’s start with the good. My nails look great every time I go. The gel lasts for 3+weeks (except for one time I got a gel french). It looks like they sterilize their equipment. The place looks clean and cute. I was ready to make this my go to nail salon.
And now for the bad.
One time I went there was no electricity so I couldn’t do gel. I didn’t make a big deal about it since Las Tunas was having major construction and I thought it was due to that.
I keep my nail short because I work at the hospital. One time I went, the lady got frustrated with me saying «your nail too short! it’s so difficult!» Aren’t you a professional? You should be ready to work with any type of nail…
I got the EXACT same design twice in a row and for some reason, first time it was $ 24 and the second time it was $ 32. I didn’t make a fuss about it but I was very confused afterwards.
Today, I had an appt at 11 with Cici. Cici did my nails multiple times before and compared to the other ladies, I liked her. When I made the appointment, I confirmed several times «Thursday 11AM with Cici.» and the owner lady repeated it back to me. I wrote it in my calendar the moment I got off the phone as well. I show up on Thursday and they told me I said Wednesday. That they called me on Wednesday trying to figure out where I was. (yes I had gotten a missed call but I was working and they didn’t leave a message so I didn’t call back) She kept on saying that I was wrong and I did not make it for thursday and the schedule was all booked now. What really bothered me about this experience was that she kept on putting the blame on me that I made a mistake and I was wrong for not picking up the phone call on Wednesday. I would have preferred if we just agreed that there was a miscommunication and let’s just try to solve the issue. I am a professional and not only do I hate it when people waste my time (especially since I only have one day a week off) but also just blame the customer that they made the mistake.
They lost a loyal customer but I don’t think they care since their schedule was very filled. There are so many nail salons in LA that do cute designs that I did not have issues finding another nail salon that day. And I actually got a massage (and it was cheaper) at the new nail salon so it was actually better.

First off the women that work here are gorgeous and so sweet! The prices are amazing for the wonderful job that they do. They have a ton of colors to choose from, for gel or regular polish. Their salon is so clean and they sterilize ALL of their tools.
My toes and hands look amazing. I work at a restaurant so the continuous hand washing and chemicals my hands are exposed too leave them really dry. I usually get red irritation above my nails because of it. When I left the salon my hands have no irritation and they look beautiful! I can not wait to go back.

I came in without an appointment and sadly they were not able to accommodate me. I made an appointment for the next day though and came back.
I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted in terms of nail design. I thought they did a really good job and at a reasonable price too! Again, it does vary depending on how much jewels and how intensive the design. Especially since I’m used to paying $ 38 just for gel manicures in NYC.
There is one lady that seems way more experienced. I wanted a upside down heart and my original lady was having a difficult time so the other lady came in and did the design really quickly. I think she may be the owner, I dunno?
Overall I was very happy with my nails and if I’m ever in town again, I will be sure to book an appointment in advance!

I have to thank Unilocal for bringing me here, because the place is so small you would barely see on the street when you drive by.
I’ve never been to these «Japanese style» nail salon before, so I was really intimidated when I first walked in. I wasn’t looking for this specific kind of manicure but I’m new to the area and didn’t know where to get a mani/​pedi so I just followed Unilocal’s reviews and called them.
I was able to get a same day appointment, and found parking behind the building. The girls here are all chinese speakers and you can tell they know what they’re doing. They have TONS of pictures for you to look at and pretty much anything you can think of they can do. I was so overwhelmed by the options and completely clueless as to what I wanted. Before coming here I’m used to getting a plain o manicure where I just need to pick a color and at most tell them I want a design and the manicurist usually just slaps some generic flower thing on my nail and charge me $ 5. This place is different. They want to know what your «style» is, and what imagery you’re trying to achieve and what theme you have in mind.
After struggling and looking at literally hundreds of photos, I told my manicurist that I better start off with something simple since it’s my first time doing this kind of manicure. I started with settling on a base color, and picking out a single design element. The manicurist then suggested a 2^nd color for just one of my fingers per hand and went to work. The process took not much longer than a typical gel manicure, but I was told my design is the «easiest ever». haha.
For pedicure I moved into the back of the salon in a separate room that has two recliner chairs. Again, this is not your typical nail salon where you sit in a high massage chair and two people work on your pedi/​mani at the same time. I didn’t mind this at all as I never cared much for those massage chairs.
In the end I really like my result and I can honestly say I thought I was going to pay a lot more for it than I actually did. I love how detailed their work is and how gentle they are with your fingers/​toes.
Bottom line is make sure you come with some idea on what you want, plan to spend some time here, and don’t expect the super pampering treatment but do expect awesome art work on your nails.
